How did the Batman logo turn upside down? Is that a “wink, wink” joke about his “reaction” to the thought of her in lingerie?

Somebody drew Gunther’s bat upside down…also, Bets is into some freaky stuff, isn’t she?

Hmm, interesting. No squabble over the 50% commission. Bets and Tiffany are now friends. No squabble over the 50% commission. Bets and Tiffany are now friends. And MOST importantly, NO Les! Good! Of course, if this story continues Monday, the Sleazebag will no doubt show up and make off color remarks.

And was that a flirty “Gun” from Tiffany meaning she’s not quite DONE with him yet? Or acknowledgement from her that ‘Gun’ is now “Bets Property?”

Oh, and it seems ‘Gun’ has got over his “spasms” from yesterday and is ready to get down to business. Taking the pics, I mean. AND whatever Bets has planned for him after.

STILL, I think We may be handing toward a new arc come Monday. Either the Ho-Hum Luann camping trip (Or its aftermath) or the annual “Summer Shannon Abandonment” story arc.

Or WORSE, the Upcoming 1st Anniversary of Irma and Al’s (GAG) “Union.”

It has been mentioned above that the bat emblem on Gunther’s shirt is upside – down. Interestingly, since it is upside – down, the upper point of Gunther’s emblem nests perfectly in the notch at the bottom of Bet’s emblem.

Gun and Bets’ Thing seems secure.

Tiff is moguling and now she has a B-school mentor…no salamander hunting, but I bet Bets can do a fast and accurate analysis of corporate ledgers.

Hmm…time to get Bets in to take a look at the accounting computers at Tom Farrell Inc. That could be their next caper. Gunther can override the door security and hack the password.

Gunther’s adapting to adulthood, eh? Good luck to Tiffany.

Tiff and Bets are friends. Bets & Gunther are getting along. Maybe because Tiff did not put her hands all over Gunther in front of Bets, or talk about being with Gunther. Luann should take notes.

Hard to believe at one time Tiffany could fit into all that stuff ….

Me thinks Bets is teasing Gun about “ready to get int lingerie?”, hinting that SHE would get into them and model while Gun missed her double entendre and is thinking she is talking about their task to put the lingerie on the mannequin and take pictures. Bets has a lot to teach Gunther about romance.

The words bat pole just went through my mind for some reason.

I was kinda thinking that Tiff and Bets are natural partners for a Souffle Lingerie storefront. Let’s say that SL has an exclusive rep because it’s only sold in stores in major cities: New York, London, Paris, Munich, (everybody talk about Pop-Muzik!) plus Hong Kong, Tokyo and Los Angeles. No mail-order. You have to be there in person and be fitted by a specialist… hence the reputation and price. Tiff has an inside contact at SL (Simone) and Bets has the business smarts. Their partnership starts with ebay and selling Tiff’s stuff in the short term to get cash for her dorm. But direct contact with Simone would solve their sourcing problems, and provide them the goods at wholesale legitimately for a long-term business plan. And then… Ann Awful and her bootlegged lingerie re-enters the picture…. hilarity ensues!

And as the lights slowly dim, we discreetly slip out and allow Bets and Gunther to do their thing. New arc, please, these two need some privacy. We’ll see them again in the near future.

OMG – “Bets” has Gunny so sprung… at this point, she could talk him into committing a crime, I’ll wager.

Not sure how far this will go – but I definitely want Bets to sink the hook into Gunther – he needs it. Nevertheless – Sunday night/Monday is likely a new arc.

Good new friendships. Good maturing. Tiff knows when to leave and is allowing Gun his new nickname. I think the best arcs involve Tiff. (We still don’t know what happened between Gun and Tiff after the salamander/mud excursion. I suspect enough that Tiff can tease him.)

Wow, so this incredibly suggestive comment from Bets (which we all know won’t lead anywhere) should make an interesting lead-in to next Monday’s strip featuring everyone returning from the camping trip we didn’t get to see. Still, the last week did get to serve as a nice rebuttal to those who push the blatantly false narrative that this is a “family strip.” Actual family-friendly strips don’t spend this much time talking about lingerie.

“Nonsense, Bets. That thing would never fit me. You’d better give it back to Tiffany.”

All them tags would have done Minnie Pearl proud.

And here I thought the lingerie would be on that mannequin.

At this rate Gunther will end up in a Asylum because his mind close to a psychotic break

I hope Tiff has a dress or something to put over the lingerie or Gunther’s just gonna look silly in next week’s strips.

That last panel is a loaded question!

It’s incredible how turn upside down the “Batman” logo help to make understand how much Gunther is still nervous about the whole thing. It seems that his wish to see Bets in Lingerie clashes fiercely with his shyness. Besides, it’s nice to see Tiffany happy to have two friends and call Gunther with the nickname Bets gave to him.

Gun’s t-shirt in the 3rd panel is different from the other two panels.

No Gunther, not to wear them, she meant to sell them with her!!!

If Tiffany is going for a business degree, wouldn’t it be a good idea to show her how to buy and sell on Ebay? She will have to take Economics and Accounting so she should start now. More importantly, she hopes to have her own business and will have to know how to be hands-on with all aspects of the job and not passing it off to others. That’s how people get scammed. Besides, we only have Bets and Gun’s word that Bets knows what she’s doing.

So now it’s Bets, Tiff and Gun. I guess next week we’ll be back to Lu, Bern and Dez.

I’m wondering if somehow this eBay sale is going to come back and bite Ann. Somewhere along the line karma has to hit her and Tiffany’s father will discover she’s been embezzling from him.

While we appreciate the clever attempt to seemingly not bring closure to this story line, those of us who have been reading this comic strip for years know… that ain’t gonna happen.

The T-shirt in the last panel is a tribute to Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ VHS cover that raised a stink for a supposed phallic symbol in one of the towers.

I wonder how well will the gift fit Bets?

This arc developed and ended the way I projected and predicted!! MD sees dark possibilities, and some of my dear fellow followers see a dark underside coming along, but even if that happens, Gunther has a REAL girlfriend finally. So he is not alone, and I continue to think that this will get very serious, and we may see some interesting looking baby Trekkies running around if we live long enough with Greg. Oh! Okay too sunny and optimistic?

I hope that Bet’s innuendo didn’t get past Gunther. It sure does SOUND that Bets wants to “party” with him. I hope he’s ready. (Les will be jealous of him. Luann, and, the rest of the girls will want all the details from Bets. And, we probably won’t even see a hint of things afterwards, such less the “party.”

I always knew this character batted for the other team, but I never guessed he also wears their uniform.

Last panel: Bets and Gunther, light-hearted and looking into the box of lingerie, not at each other. The moment of passion has been defused, lights are bright, clutch and grab game won’t happen, Gunther should be in pain and still sweating, but might as well switch to Shannon because we can’t get no satisfaction here.

Well that worked out nicely. Looks like everyone is happy especially Gun! I think Tiffany’s playful use of his nickname indicates simply that she is happy for him and that she approves of Bets as his girl friend. I hope Tiffany makes a ton of money on eBay and grows as a person as she finds her way in the business world. I think Bets can be a big help in this. Tiffany now has two good friends who genuinely care about her. And Gun and Bets seem very happy together.

Is a new “side” of Gunther revealed now? Under Bets direction?

@Mordy Greg deftly side stepped any potential rift over the 50% profit split. Apparently it was resolved off-strip. Or was it!? If Tiff agreed to the split I doubt she would be that generous with the teddy “gift.” Bets and “Gun” (ugh!) made it known up front this was “strictly business” and not a “favor.” Bets made it clear that the teddy was beyond her reach, even at eBay prices.

But then, Greg is not always fastidious about tying up loose ends and he did want to leave us with a risqué mini cliff hanger to end the arc.

“…hmmm, no squabble about the 50 percent commission…”. Actually, if that 50% includes Bets listing, selling, and mailing the items, it’s not a bad deal. When you sell an item on ebay you pay a listing fee (most of the time it’s waived). But when your item sells you PAY ebay a percentage of the sale price, and you’re charged a fee by PAYPAL for getting the money from the buyer, and postage these days is ridiculous (almost $4.00 to mail a ONE OUNCE PACKAGE). So if one of Tiff’s items sells for $100 and Bets gets $50 … if she’s handling the packing, mailing, fees from ebay and paypal, it’s MORE than fair.

“Ready to get into some lingerie?” sounds like Bets wants a crossdresser for a boyfriend, or in Star Trek speak, Gunther, get ready “to go where no man has gone before”

Hmm…Does Bets mean to have “Gun” wear the lingerie or is she going to model it for him?

Way to just leave people to do work for you, they didnt even mention theyd be charging her, (again hopefully tiffany goes thru harder times and falls face first in the mud to knock more sense into her about the real world)

G&K are shaking my faith in them. To date, an essential element of any Gunther arc is to have him snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!

Assuming this is the “end” of this arc (for the time being), looks like I’m eating crow this weekend!

Now… the question is… Is Bets going to model them and Gun take photos, or are they just going to lay them out on display.

Anyone else notice that Gunther’s world got rocked so hard his Batman symbol is upside down.

That was a fun story. I think there will be a new one Monday morning.

Gunther DID flip his logo! Was that deliberate or an error by Greg?

More importantly:

1. The “Bets vs. Tiffany” duel is over, and Bets won. (Good, I think, she’s a better match for Gunther)2. Tiffany and Bets will re-appear in some time for the business operation.3. Greg draws this strip to be deliberately vague about whether or not his romantic adult characters “get it on” before marriage, to avoid offending conservative readers. Given the immense readership he has, I have no problem with “vagueness.”

But as an MFA writer, I’m 95 percent sure that Bets is going to try on the nightie and be taking it off just as quickly, and Gunther is going to find out what all the fuss is about. I suspect that Bets already has a good idea.

In truth, it’s a good way for that to happen to Gunther…he seems to really love Bets and vice versa, they are a great couple with a lot in common, they’ll have a wonderful time.

So, is she asking is he ready to get into some lingerie, or does he want to see her get into some lingerie?

And then they ****ed.

Interesting turn of events. I like it so far.

Greg threw down the bait and left us in a feeding frenzy. Think what you want. Will Bets seduce Gunther? Will Gunther make a move on Bets? We are in a quandary, but Greg doesn’t care. He is headed down to his favorite ice cream shop to have a big sundae, get a newspaper, and enjoy the latest adventures of Pickles and Zits. (He also thinks that Sara has a killer body)

I want to see these two following through on this work.

@ Fontessa, regarding your comment about the coloring, I assume you are referring to Tiffany in the extreme foreground. Putting her in shadow and out of the limelight is a simple but also pretty sophisticated technique. I’m shocked that nobody’s asked why the sudden change in Tiffany’s skin color. Or called for my dismissal.

Glad this had a happy ending. I’m predicting that we will not see Gunther and Bets till college starts back up. Bets and Tiffiany will probably be in the same classes…maybe room together??

Gun is about a nervous as he can be cause he’s picturing that lingerie on bets. And most of it is sheer and/or not long enough to cover bets “business.”

Hey, Gunther, something to keep in mind – Bets wants a Betazoid wedding.

Oh, wow! Is Bets speaking literally? While I would not mind seeing her modelling some of the lingerie, I definitely do not want to see “Gun” do so!

And to reiterate, their tee-shirts bear the Wonder Woman emblem (not Batman’s): they just attended the movie before all this lingerie business….

Bets may very well be able to fill a Crystal and Knute-sized hole in both Gunther and Tiffany’s lives. This dynamic is proving to be rather interesting.

Also, did anyone notice that Gunther is so flustered that his shirt’s print flipped out? I’m sure his heart’s doing the same.
