Uh-oh. Luann is speeding because there is trouble at The Fuse named Tara. There you go. It was not Jack that night. Now that there seems to be trouble concerning Tara down at The Fuse, you soon will find out it was Tara, Bernice. Get ready to feel like a ninny in 3, 2, 1…

Bernie’s “relief” upon realizing that Luann is not “speeding off” to see Jack, will soon give way to “Well just who is she speeding off to see?” And that may “infect” the guys, here.

“Snoop City” here We come.

Luann may soon wish that she’d let her long-time “best friend” IN of her “little secret.” ;)

Good ending for this arc. Hope something new starts on Monday…

Jack’s going to be all dumbfounded when Bernice brings up the hallaballoo.

Today’s panel 1 finds Bern standing to Ben’s right, this time the same side she was on in yesterday’s panel 3, but (as I guessed) for the same reason that they switched sides several times earlier in the week. By panel 3, they’ve moved.

I bet that Luann is going to the Fuse!

Good guess, Jack on “Ben?” (I wonder how he knew…..) ;)

Now we get to watch bitchy Bernice deny ever being wrong about assuming Jack and Luann being together.

Ben doesn’t know Jack, but Jack does know Ben. When did Jack meet Ben without Ben meeting Jack?

So how will the conversation with Jack, go? Some possibilities:

(1) Bern asks indirect questions trying to get Jack to talk about his relationship with Luann. We can tell that he has no idea what she’s getting at, but his answers happen to be worded so that she can draw mistaken conclusions. (If I recall correctly, SDog suggested something like this possibility a few days ago.)

(2) Bern tries to maneuver the conversation towards the topic of Ben exercising with Jack, in hope that Ben will then gather intel for her.

(3) Jack asks Bernice out. Bern thinks he’s trying to two-time on Luann and tells him off, possibly wording her remarks in such a way that Jack doesn’t understand what’s bothering her.

(4) We never find out because action cuts to a different arc on Monday and when we finally see Bern or Jack again, it’s somewhere else. Or maybe we see Ben and Bern still together on Monday, but Jack has moved on.

(5) …?

Bernice hi Jack. I thought you were in the car with Luann.Jack why would think that Bernice. Hi Ben. Hi Jack!!Ben, were did Luann go off to. Jack she went to the Fuse. Ben says to Jack that Bernice has a question for you that she to ashamed to ask you.

Follow that car! (Tara is so much more interesting than Jack).

I still don’t know how Jack and Ben would know each other, unless Jack somehow knew she has a brother named Ben and now thinks “That’s got to be him, because he looks identical to her.” I wonder if Jack has a family member with a completely flat head?

“Jack?”

“Jack!”

“Bern!”

“Ben?”

I bet she feels dumb now.

Good place for this arc to take a little intermission. Gunther, put your pants on, we could be dropping by.

The thought plickens…

The Tara thing bothers me. Seeming to recall her morals were rather self-serving. Im expecting to see an incident with liability issues all over related to Tara’s arrangement…either and accident or Tara steals from the fuse…..not having good vibes on that subplot.

I used to like Bernice, but I do not like this officious twit.

Benny, I think this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship…

They know each other?

For those who wonder how Jack knows about Ben, see: https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2020/11/04 and https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2021/01/07 . So he is somewhat surprised to see her out walking with him (they look like twins). Ben’s “Jack?” is after Bernice has said “Jack!” (but Bern said Luann is supposed to be on her way to see this Jack).

What I don’t like about this story arc, is that Bernice feels she is entitled to know everything about Luann’s life. Luann has a right to her own little secrets, it’s none of Bernice’s business, especially if Luann declines to tell her.

As The Stomach Churns

The plot sickens, er, thickens..

HOORAY! Finally Jack and Ben met!!!! And Bernice can see Luann is not running for meet him. This doesn’t mean that she now has stop to think they had met that night, in Luann’s room. But this will probably be revealed soon and Bernice will have to admit she accused her, innocent, BFF to be a traitor and a liar and, maybe, start feeling really bad about it. I wonder if next week will be about this trio or will follow Luann. I’d love to see Bernice and Jack talk and Ben start to know him♡.

Act 3, scene 1 : Beatrice and Jacque reunited.Bernice drops out of University and becomes a Veterinarian Student at the Community College.

A pleasantly interesting end to the week. But…

Will next week be about:

A) Luann’s impending “Tara-gate”?

or

B) Bernice’s romantic interest in Jack?

My bet…. since Ben is about, next week will be about “A”.

But, now the REAL issue…. wasn’t Luann’s car a different color before?!? I do not think it was bright red. She must have gotten a new “wrap” for it to celebrate something or other. :)

One hopes that Bern will be content on learning it can’t be Jack that Luann had in her room. One hopes, but this one fears that it is vain hope. More likely at least another week of ‘humor’ that consists of people unwilling to be honest with each other.

Time to break out a bottle of sangfroid, Bern.

I think Luann needs a new BFF. Bernice is too judgmental, mostly in a bad or condescending mood. I wouldn’t wish her as a girlfriend on Jack, she would just transfer her snide remarks to him.

How many days of Bernice standing there being a witch are we going to be treated to. He drags his arc’s out by taking a week to do what could half been done in one day. We don’t need this many days of Bernice being a itch before moving the story forward.

Bern, Benny, Bern!

Could have sworn I wrote a comment before bed last night. Well… I think we have another week at least with this arc set involving Bernice, Luann, Tara, Jack, and importantly Ben. Ben to have and wise influence on his sister (boy do they have an interesting story when you think of it, two siblings separated at toddler age, if not sooner, one being raised by global vagabonds, with a Filipino wife, who is doing a very culturally appropriate thing for Filipino/Asians, taking c/o elderly parents, the other being raised by the birth parents, essentially estranged, until now, from her brother, and her twin nephews (Auntie Bernice, get used to it), Jack for Bernice perhaps to develop that further, and realize that Luann was not lying to her about Jack, and the reason she was lying, and of course Tara and the Fuse, and how all of this impacts the main character’s friendship. Old friends can fight sometimes, how they make up is what is important and telling. Lets see how GnK tell it.

Little secret, come on it’s Luann

False alarm?

Time for Bernice to about-face and admit she likes Jack, was wrong about him and Luann, thank her brother and proceed to snoop out the Luann-Tara situation. Maybe Jack can help. They can bond while sleuthing. Jack can run really fast and catch up to the car to find out where Luann’s going while Bernice investigates purchasing a tracking device at the local hardware store where she sees Tara having spare keys to the Fuse being made. In honesty though, it will just wind down with Bernice and Jack exercising, Ben not exercising, Luann telling her bff what’s going on and Bernice and Tara both moving into Tiffany’s big house.

Ah… now the three of them can wonder together where Luann is constantly zooming off to. Meanwhile, Luann may come to regret embroiling herself in Tara’s personal affairs in the way that she has. Wow…… generosity (misguided), confusion, misunderstanding, jealousy, anxiety, sangfroid…. G&K have it all in this arc!

I hope that’ll teach you a lesson, Bernice.

oops, a flaw in Bern’s analysis

Agreed. This looks like a plot straight out of an old ’30s movie.

You were saying, Bernice? Ooh! You should tell Jack that you heard him going out Luann’s bedroom window and demand the explanation you so rightfully deserve! I’ll get some popcorn!

Jack knows Ben??

in a total reveal, Jack tells Bern/Ben that he as gay and an undercover agent for the ATF investigating the movement of Peruvian antiquities through the Fuze. Rosa escapes the net with the help of Ben’s wife who is actually an aspiring internet BLM trans Hip Hop artist/producer. Quill returns to rescue Tara ((back story to be revealed later.

Have Ben and Jack met? Because they’re saying each other’s names questioningly…like they’re surprised to see each other.

So, now is your chance to improve, Bern. Between chill-out Ben and easy-going Jack, try to assimilate some of that energy. Being a snoopy, vindictive, sarcastic, insecure, self-righteous snit who uses granny words all the time isn’t any way to live. I mean, I know you’re just written and drawn that way, but still. :D

Have Tara and Tiffany ever met? I hope we see them at the Fuse next week. I will be happy if we don’t see Bernice at all next week. She is unpleasant in small doses, and unbearable in large doses.

I used to think that Jack and Bernice would be an ok pairing. But after this past week I think she is just too anxious and over analytical for him.

Well Berniece looks relieved to see Jack. Hopefully this will set her mind at ease. But now the mystery deepens…..

glad her assumption was short lived….but the situation just became more of a mystery!

Oh, geez. And once we have taken care of Bernice’s jealousy and all the associated double entendres, we still have to deal with the disaster at the Fuze which will inevitably result from Luann’s charity case.

Bernice looks terrible with a 5 o’clock shadow….

Ah! And just how many of us were waiting for Jack to show up on this long walk?! ;-DSince he knows nothing of Luann’s escapades or Bernice’s suspicions, he’ll probably be happy Bern is walking and with her brother. Question is, will Bernice sputter and express her concerns about Luann or drop it? Hmmmm. Next week we could be following Luann or not! Oh, the suspense, the drama! ;-)

This is why one should “test” a new friend with a minor secret to see how long it takes to come back to you. Cynical but true. Everyone is entitled to their own secrets. Even marriage doesn’t entitle one to spousal mind-reading.

Time for Bernice to make her move

I hope next week isn’t just Ben and Jack working out and talking about Bern and Lu.

How do Jack and Ben know each other again?

Bern: propped mouth open with a 2×4, then jumped in with both feet.

I said it a couple of days ago about story pacing: that Ben and Bern should have met Jack already. Bern: "why aren’t you with Luann? " Jack: “why would I be?” Bern: " you were in her room a few nights ago." Jack: “???” Ben: “Gotta go, kids and all that.”

Since Bernice has told Ben she’s not interested in Jack, I hope to see Ben watching as she blushes and gushes now that Jack is there!

Tara ra boom dee ehh! Luann knows where she goes.

Bernie doesn’t. Embarrassed by her her stupid Rush to Judgment? Not in the least; she is fixated on Jack, even though she doesn’t admit it to herself—yet….

So, do they know any Other guys for Bern to obsess over?

Ox? TJ? Gunth?

Who will be her next Suspect?

I bet that Ben is surprised about Jack! Especially, his athletically physique.

Okay, I love the stories and characters, but I would like Bern to show some character growth. She’s gone through a lot, I think her character should reflect more of what she’s learned about the world; I just don’t see her going so Betty and Veronica about the Jack thing.
