As far as I’m concerned, Bets and Tiffany are two of a kind in the manipulation department.

There’s absolutely NO reason these two _shouldn’t be pals.

Seems like character development is happening here. Not unlike getting a behind the scenes view of TJ several years back. I think Bets will blossom to a character with some depth previously unseen.

Worse than a manipulator

A marketer is someone offers something that people want. Some times exaggerating what he has to offer A manipulator gets people to do things they would not otherwise do through a combination of guilt, flattery or threat. When Bets tells Tiffany “you owe me…” that is half-guilt and half-threat. Tiffany has it right, Bets is a manipulator.

Charging for what? Staying at her mansion?! She charges you for that.

Watching these two play off each other? Yeah, they’re clearly gonna be besties (if they aren’t already).

Bets IS good! Tiffany can’t say no to her proposal, Bets knows her very well. A summer together has many possibilities and all of them are interesting. Thanks to this, they could really become BFF for life ♡, or enemies… but today is BFF day and I don’t think this is a coincidence! I hope Gunther will visit them.

Tiff is right, you know, Bets? Yes, you’re enterprising but they are, by nature, manipulators. Just look it up. They all say they aim to influence people, and you are doing precisely that. You do that with Gunther, too. Not necessarily related to marketing but to get what you want. So you are not just enterprising but a manipulator. I wonder if this is the launch of the summer of Tiff pointing this flaw to Bets through her acts to help her realize that she is indeed a manipulator – or rather than Bets, but Gunther and he ends up breaking up with her for good?

And here, fans, is the germ of a great corporation. The business head and the marketing head. I hope the Evanses are heading in that direction. Tiffany is one character in this strip who has evolved and matured, and she and Bet are a good match-up.

these two have helped each other in aspects of their college lives; they are friends but it is good that Tiff points this out to Bets. Bets is both a marketer AND a manipulator, the 2nd being not so desirable. If Tiff agrees to let Bets live at the mansion for the summer she will need to lay down some rules of that game. Bets could manipulate Tiff into doing a lot of things with or at her Dad’s house that Tiff might not otherwise consider. Also, can Tiff trust Bets to be alone in that house when she is not there, e.g. working?

Bets is a very annoying character. Right up there with Shannon. I would like to see Tiffany’s life to have some happiness for a change.

Betts put a much better spin on it than Tiff, even if Tiff was right.

If Bets were a manipulator Tiff wouldn’t be her friend and Gunther wouldn’t have married her. Manipulators get away with so much before they’re found out and ostracised.. eventually. They’re hateful and full of BS!

Tiff and Bets should get along famously! —Until that moment of conflicting ideas become the casus belli and there is no joy in mansionville….

There is a HUGE difference between doing a favor here and there, and being “owed” free lodging for the summer. Tiff is making a big mistake if she lets Bets move in. Temporary “help” such as finding a van, or past help such as tutoring and encouragement, don’t even come close to measuring up to what Bets is “suggesting”. (As some other commenters point out, with “guilt” and “threats”. Horrible idea, but I suppose good for the storyline.

Yesterday Tiff showed she’s grown socially aware enough to have a college students sense of humor. Today she showing insight.

Bets, on the other hand, is blurring the line between bring an ethical marketer and a manipulator. She’ll do well in business, providing she stays ethical.
