OMC mighty cat is here. here I come to slay the day, the night, the curtains and anything else in her way. bring on the bridge! it doesn’t stand a chance!
And, once again, Momcat saves the day . . . picking up Ora Zella and taking her off for a timely nap, no doubt. [Yes, we ALL know he’s a boy! You don’t have to remind us! =)]
Elvis, Puck, and Goldie are not enough grown-up cats to bring up OZ and Iggy. (Lupin doesn’t quite count as grown up.) Any one of them could teach Iggy. OZ, on the other hand …
Whaa…?! Puck went full-on Mom-Cat on Ora Zella! (And he’s a boy!) Before I got to the last panel (and lost my mind over this), I was already in full fall-out-of-bed love with Elvis’s paw in the face.
Are we going to play “What does the next panel show?” I like that game. Let’s see. I see Puck depositing OZ into a sunbeam and she instantly falls asleep, forgetting about jumping off cliffs, burning bridges and slaying days.
The drapes in my living room still bear the tiny pinprick holes made by Jasper’s kitten claws from where he would chase the shadows of birds flying in for a landing on the gabled roof of the front porch. I can’t bring myself to replace them because they remind me of the mischievous kitten I brought home on October 5, 1998. We had almost 18 years together before cancer took him away from me.
There’s a more recent arc where he gets stuck near the top of the curtain & won’t let the Man rescue him – he wants his Woman! (I really need to start updating my copies of the BCN spreadsheets…)
Not the first male I’ve seen doing that. But Puck is the first male cat I’ve seen trying to carrry a kitten by the scruff. Spotty got into big trouble doing that to a kitten. Of course he’d been raised by cats and us and thought at the time he was a cat and not a dog.
I’ve said it before, Spotty knew which cats belonged to him and which weren’t a part of his family and he’d chase those that weren’t supposed to be in his yard away while being as gentle as possible with those who were his family. But that was after he accidentally killed a kitten by trying to be a momma cat.
This is hilarious, both with Elvis being a good dad to his adopted son… and Zella trying to jump off a bridge while her other dad just.. carries her off to parts unknown. Also Iggy wears that curtain as a cape MAJESTICALLY.

Again, I am sure this is a generic cat story and has nothing whatsoever to do the the real-life cats that these stories are based upon!

And you have curtains, with cats? Especially with hooligan kittens? (I know, that’s redundant)

Other little cats play with crinkle balls or squeaky toys. Ora Zella prefers jackhammers and C4.

Wild thing
You like to wreck things
You make your dad cat moody
Wild thing
Wild thing, no bridge can stop you
That’s what you think, for sure
Come on, you’re a delight!
We love you
Wild thing
You make our hearts sing
You’re such a fearless cutie
Wild thing
Come on! Come on!
Wild thing
Slay it! Slay it!
Wild thing
We love you

Ora Zella and Iggy might need a good swat. Cats don’t worry about traumatizing kittens by the use of corporal punishment.

I really hope there’s a toy bridge somewhere in the house to satiate Ora Zella’s urges safely. More solid advice from Dad Cat in the last panel!

Kansas: Carry On Wayward Son
Carrying my wayward cat
Time for you to take a nap
Curl up on the Big Red Couch
Or stretch out on the floor!
…….
I thrive on all the noise and confusion
The curtains on the windows are but an illusion
I was soaring ever higher
And Iggy joined me too
Now the sun still shines through all the windows,
Look at all the sunbeams we can sleep through
And now Puck has me by the scruff
I can hear him say
…….
Carrying my wayward cat
Time for you to take a nap
Curl up on the Big Red Couch
Or stretch out on the floor!
…….
Pulling curtains down for reason
Lovely snow throughout the season
And I look for new adventures as well
Come join me in all my adventures
Like a hurricane I bring chaos and mayhem
Tossed about, I’m like a ship on the ocean
Iggy’s here to share my fortune
But I can hear Pucky say:
…….
Carrying my wayward cat
Time for you to take a nap
Curl up on the Big Red Couch
Or stretch out on the floor!
…….
Carry on, I’ll always remember
The 21st day of September (a bit of Earth, Wind, and Fire)
Now my life’s no longer boring,
Like Heaven for me and you!
…….
Carrying my wayward cat
Time for you to take a nap
Curl up on the Big Red Couch
Or stretch out on the floor!

Serfig-Aro: Everyone, I’d like you to meet my cousin, Billy Joe Macatster.
Puckmosis: Pleased to meet you. Where do you hail from.
Billy Joe: I love on the delta. I’m a professional athlete.
Lupinium: Oh, I’ve heard of you. It was the 3rd of June, at the Bridge Competition.
Billy Joe: That’s right. I came in first place in the high dive.
Iggy: What does it take to be a competitive diver?
Billy Joe: It takes a lot of practice, and being very mindful of your surroundings.
Enter Whirlwind
Ora Z: Did someone mention bridge diving? Is there a bridge burning event, too?
Elvis-Anum: Don’t even think about it!
