Is this the beginning of the end of Gunther in this strip? Bets has been turned off. Les is still alive, and there is no indication that Gunther is going to take Lesley’s life. Gunther feels like a zombie now, so he will try to move on. Maybe he will join the Marines and leave the strip.

Gunther, you petulant prig. Are your antics in the book people actually have to pay for just as cringeworthy?

Gunther finally cut that string that kept on dragging him back.

Hey, Gunther got in a Zinger. Ha!

Well, Gunther, you said it. SNAPGRAM Bets. You got tired of being her prop. You made the right decision although it doesn’t feel like it right now but in the long run, you will look back and say it was the best decision you made. The hardest ones often are the best ones.

Theory: Observation suggests that the more time you spend sitting in a bean bag chair, the more your brain becomes like a bean bag.

Not much of a life, if you ask me.

And Gunther still doesn’t look happy.

Still with the bean bag chairs??? Who has that for lr furniture?

Zing! Gun as I’ve been told when one door closes another one opens. In my case, there’s another door and it’s locked.

Abandoning a relationship creates a void called “Bachelor Life”. Eating junk food and killing time by being a zombie.

Gunther is an example of “tale of the missing pebble”.

Gunther should stop just watching Les play video games and play himself, trying to release anger by doing things. But he seems less beat-up and passive than the first time Bets left him. I don’t think he’ll just vegetate on the beanbag chair waiting for someone to come and save him. He’ll probably go back to studying and try not to think about Bets, maybe he’ll actually decide to start doing something to “Get a life”. I wonder if he’ll join a club at the university or will look for a job. Maybe he could start working in a studio, or as a part-time waiter at The Fuse, like his special friend Tiffany.

Time to hit the gym, good Gunth. We’ll see you on new arc in a few months when Lu, Pru, or Tiff (or all of them ) sees your 8-pack on muscle beach!

Les has a job so let him spend his downtime how he wants.

On that note, does Gunther have a job that I’m forgetting about? If not, does mommy still give him an allowance? Did Bets have to support him on his trip?

Where’s Punk?

I’ll never understand guys who pretend there is some virtue in the bachelor life.

Les was trying to help Gunther, but some people don’t want to be helped. Gunther is sullen and angry because he doesn’t have Snapgram Bets anymore. He could refollow her anytime he wanted to, but no. If he misses her that much, he could even call her, but again, no. That would require taking positive action, something Gunther seems incapable of right now.

I think Gunther might be something of a masochist. He would rather wallow in self pity, and agonize over how much fun Bets is having without him, than do something else. Anything else.

And as the Sun sets on Gunther’s relationship, and the song “No More Lies” by Thundercat and Tame Impala plays in the background, We join the lads.

So Les. What “zombie killing” game are you playing?

And Buck-up, Gunny. Bets is GONE and the good news is you didn’t go chasing after her. Get yourself a new hobby. I suggest you get RID of that silly sewing machine. It’s never gotten you anything but ridicule, and using it now will only bring back unpleasant memories of You-Know-Who.

Instead, take up building custom gaming PC’s. You can even sell them on the side for a profit. Get your meddling mother and indifferent step-dad to cough up startup money. H3LL, they OWE you that much.

And be patient. I suspect there’ll be some young lady needing your help in the not too distant future……, ;-)

I know how Les feels. I don’t really worry about finding love. I just focus on the present and pursuing my true passions: animation and art.

The only fan base I know that hates the object of their adoration more ardently is Star Wars. Ṣiva H. Viṣṇu, if you don’t like the content or direction of a strip, don’t read it. It’s free. You don’t complain about things that are free!

Les is forcing Gunther’s hand so he’ll stop staring at the phone and make a choice. Either go after her or get over her.

Bets is better off dumping Gunther. Maybe bets meets Rosa and Gunther junior.

Getting rid of zombies? Start with Gunther…

Eventually, when least expected, Bets will return.

True to the way Bets has been portrayed, she’s discarded Gunther like an unneeded part of a cosplay outfit. Her manipulative self will be back as soon as she needs to weasel Gunth into getting the van repaired or something. This junk isn’t over yet.

This is “Luann”. Of course the arc changes on Monday.

Gunther; would you rather watch what Les does in his room, when he fantasises over those pinups, and, etc.?

Now if he could just rid himself of his other attachments, say, by moving out of that house.

Bets thinks that Gunther deleted her, sending her insecurities into high gear.

I don’t think G&K are going to ditch the Bets character – they put a lot of effort into developing her, and eliminating the only person of color in their strip is not a good look at all. Maybe a spin off cartoon that people will have to pay for monthly is in the works. That would be more like them.

I’m not sure I get this strip today. What does he mean with the controller comment — that Les is a fool, or that he needs to follow his own advice?

Les is a good friend. Maybe he should give Gunther a turn playing video games.

I still don’t understand why G&K had to play a quick money grab and then bore us to death with filler until they let it play out.

Join in the game, Gunther. Forget about Bets. You don’t need her.

It’s not like he couldn’t reload the App

Oh my God what a jerk! Seriously how many issues does Gunther have? It seems to me the only protagonist in this entire strip who is worth reading about or rooting for is Tiffany, everyone else is just an unpleasant a**hole.

I can’t imagine what any woman would find attractive about Gunther. He has been extra pathetic this week. This is his true personality.

This looks like it was drawn by a backup artist.

Gunther is not adjusting well but give him time. He’s only now admitting that his relationship might be over. I’ve known many young people who have split up and they’ve reacted just like he is doing here. The guys seem to take it especially hard. It sounds like she’s the one who initiated the break. I knew one young man who tried to insist they still “be friends”. This seldom works because secretly there is the hope of regaining the relationship. Best to move on and move on quickly and cleanly.

Les may be trying to help Gunther but you cannot say that Les has a life much worth imitating.

Oh shush, Gunther, let Les game if he wants to. At least Les earned his cash to pay for it.

Man post-break-up angst is making Gunth more snarky and unpleasant to be around. Turn him loose on Bernice then they can have a sulky little jab fest.

the snide smile on Les’s face suggests (to me) that he is happy to have reduced Gunther back to a bachelor i.e by removing Bets from his life (at least his cell phone for now). Les likes Bets but was not able to have her and part of me thinks Les was jealous that she was Gunnie’s girlfriend. He’s happy now that she may no longer be, i.e. i couldn’t have her and now you can’t either…good.

That was kinda harsh Gunther.

The five stages of grief are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Looks like Gunth’s in stage 2.

If Gunther came home to go to classes, why hasn’t he? Where’s the research and homework? And Les is a dishwasher at the Kafe, yet we haven’t seen him there?

It’s only been a week in this arc. Can’t see it ending so soon? Something’s got to give!

Great now Les gets to deal with Gunter being a passive aggressive whiny baby.

Obsessing over a woman that loved her fake curated social media more than him is pathetic.

Wasn’t Les the one who threatened to bully Gunther when Ox stepped in? See how bold Gunther is now. To Rosa’s credit, or to Bets’?

Oh no! Without Bets in his life people will start questioning why Gunther is living with a man at his age.

Are there no prostitutes Gunther can take his frustrations out on?

Respectfully, there is a big grown up elephant in the room no one has mentioned. Les has a job & Bets has her own substantial income to allow her to travel. Gunther doesn’t. Not even an internship. I can understand why Bets would bolt and Les wouldn’t want to spend his day off babysitting Gunth when he could be playing games.

Honest question: Did I miss the details about what actually happened between Gunth and Betts? I know there was a big build up, that culminated with Gunth telling everyone they just went their separate ways. He came home and she continued the road trip, and the split was mutual. But was there any more to it than that? Did I miss a few strips?

How about Gunther apply himself to his studies? Isn’t he supposed to be super smart? He’s acting like a spoiled, stupid kid. Get over your crush and get a life, bro. The babes will go for you when you have a JOB and a future, trust me!

I’ve always disliked Bets. She’s manipulative and self-absorbed. She cared far more about her social media hits than how Gunther felt about being forced into her photo ops. She did help Gunny expand his horizons a bit, so that’s a score, but I say good riddance!

Bring back Shannon…

Bitter Berger Boy hasn’t got a life yet, whereas Leslie Knox is content to vegetate as a bachelor, at least for now. They both could use a tune-up….

Why are Gunther and Les always wearing dress pants and shirts buttoned up to the neck? Even when hanging out at home? Don’t they have jeans and t-shirts?

OK, This makes no sense. Les didn’t destroy the phone, he deleted the app. If Gunther can reinstall it if he’s so miserable.

No Punk? I’m assuming he’s helping Les by catching Zombies on the the TV screen.
