Such a nice little catalog of āthings weāre not allowed to touchā. This of course forgets the First Law of Cats. If I see it, I touch it! Which Brings us to The Second Law of Cats. If I touch it, itās MINE!
Using āantiqueā as a verb is hideous enough, but buying and installing that monstrosity is completely beyond the pale. To have that thing above would terrify me. Even if (per impossibile) it wasnāt cursed, I would still feel inescapably doomed.
The woman went antiquing and she came back with quite the find sounds like my wife. Our hometown is a community called Snohomish and the main industry of the old downtown area is antique shops. On weekends the old downtown is very crowded. We have a fair number of āquite the findsā from my wifesās expeditions there.
Iām with Elvis. Um, a light that can poke your eye out? On the other hand, I am warming to the mid-century modern, Sputnik-inspired light fixtureā¦(scrolls eBay jealously)
Looks like Georgia might be a fan of all the HGTV remodeling shows where the designers love to find āuniqueā light fixtures in antique shops. Itās not nearly as bad as some of the lights Iāve seen on those shows.
Bought in an antique shop it was probably expensive. If found for $2 in a thrift shop it would be hailed as a fabulous find. In any case, make sure itās firmly attached so it doesnāt fall and impale some unsuspecting cat! Remember, there are two active cats for whom your ceiling is a floor!
Itās not the prettiest of light fixtures; however, if the woman likes it, so be it.
OFF TOPIC:
Buddha (grandsonās pet snake, for those who donāt know) is definitely shedding. This means he will be very sulky for a while. Iāll just leave him alone for the time being.
Must be circa 1960sāitās very much got that 60s futurism vibe to it.
And I can also see why it fell out of style. Not only must it be a pain to clean and maintain given all the pointy bits, it hurts my eyes looking at all the pointy bits, and it looks like if it ever fell itād either skewer itself through the floor or shatter into a thousand pointy pieces that would be hazardous for anyone to be around.
Has Georgia ever commented on ELVIS, the cat in the Second Chance Cat Mysteries? By Sofie Ryan. Iām currently reading Undercover Kitty, in which Elvis is competing in a cat show while his human companions try solving a crime(s). For once, Elvis has lots and lots of mentions. Hope he wins a ribbon (currently 2nd place in Household Pet cat egory).
The oldest boy was riding his e-bike home after work Friday night at midnight. He was going around a corner when he hit some invisible ice and, of course, he fell and landed on his hip. Yesterday afternoon he finally told me about it so I had to take him to the ER to make sure he didnāt have any fractures. Good news is he didnāt break anything except the headlight on his bike.
Today I went hunting for kale chips without success. There were cassava, plantain, various fruits (including chili tamarind, yuck!) but no kale. I bought some fresh kale in reparation. On the bright side, I found Polish paczki (pronounced pooch=key). According to the package, you might call it pampushky, kraplen, gogosi, fastnacht, or malasada.
In Germany, itās a Berliner. A myth is that John F. Kennedyās famous proclamation, āIch bin ein Berlinerā meant that he called himself a jelly doughnut. Wrong ending. Hereās the quote: "All free men, wherever they live, are citizens of Berlin, and, therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words, āIch bin ein Berliner.ā
In any case, I bought some raspberry ones and stowed them in the freezer at once so that I donāt eat them before Cheesefare Sunday (Orthodox Catholic) or Shrove Tuesday (Western).

As winter decor, itās snowballs and icicles. As summer decor, itās dandelion seed heads and stems.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Puckmosis: Is Iggy out fishing with Fresh and Salty Water Cats?
Beatrixia: They came back to leave some fish off at the Royal Kitchen, then they are going to the Bazaar to sell fish and make trades.
Puckmosis: I wonder if theyāll meet the Royal Procurers at the Bazaar.
Bea: Maybe. They had gone out to Punn State to pick up cheese. I think they might be back by now.
Puck: Thatās right. They won a yearās supply of cheese last June 2nd.
Sound of Giggling in the Background
Puck: Hello, ladies. How was your trip?
Agnes-Ata: It was great. After we won cows, we almost have more cheese than we know what to do with.
Violet-Ifa: A slight exaggeration. There is always a demand for good cheese.
Puck: Did you happen to see Iggy and the Water Cat brothers?
Ta-Natash: Yes. Fresh and Salty sold their catch, and bought some fishing nets. Iggy bought a contraption of which we know not the use.
Bea: He did say he wanted to get a lantern. He has a friend who keeps dropping them.
Puck: I think I met him. He sings opera or something.
Alice-Ata: Thatās him. And the Lantern of the Opera.
