Shannon is a pretty decent artist for just being 6 years old..

So, when is Luann going to realize she could be a successful children’s author?

Is this going to be Howtheduck’s long dreamed of Epic road trip story?

Shannon is pretty smart for her age, and she draws a really good dog.

Our two major political parties should learn Shannon’s trick.

This has always been Bernie’s problem. She approaches every discussion, conversation, or just plain talk, with a pathological need to prove she’s right. And you’re wrong. You can see it in the way she questions Shannon’s story. Like, “Why am Iistening to this illogical drivel?”. Completely missing the point about a little girl’s immagination.

I typically love kids, But Shannon is a piece of work.

What an obnoxious kid.

Jeez, Bernice! Haven’t you ever heard of Dr. Seuss??

Yikes! either Puddles went into the fish bowl or Monstro learned to fly (not to mention how they breath… wait… I know… comics physics – doh!)

This reminds me a little of The Amazing World of Gumball with the “well, yeah, anything can interact with anything.”

I could envision a modified Rorschach Test where an ink blot resembles Shannon’s big blob of black hair and 7 out of 10 respond with the word, “obnoxjous,”

At what point will Bernie give up and transfer to the historiography department? Von Ranke in the original would be less tedious.

Why not have something interesting happen for a change… like Shannon’s mother suddenly appearing and demanding custody, Tara and her cousin robbing The Fuse and accidentally setting the place on fire, “Elvis” shows up again, Al divorces Irma and marries an 18-year old girl, there’s a massive earthquake which destroys over half the town, mobsters from TJ’s past show up demanding all his money, or b-WAD gets seriously injured in a fire and falls in love with the nurse giving him sponge-baths? Just sayin’.

What we’re actually seeing here is Bernice approaching awareness of her own talents. First she gets Shannon to calm down by “tricking” her into writing a book. Then she gets her to explain it to her, so she has to come up with the supporting information.

Heck of a writing coach, I’d say.

So either the dog is underwater, or the fish is floating in air. Well, it is a six-year-old’s imagination, after all.

It is time to teach Shannon some manners.

“Yes, there are SOME things I know, Shannon. For instance, I know that I should have left the house the moment you showed up! In fact, I know that so well, I could become an expert at it!”

It’s Shannon who looks like Darth Vader. Her hair fits like his helmet.

It’s a silly children story, Bernice. Get with the program already!

Bernice wants to be a psychologist despite having zero empathy.

The girl who does everything only after thinking for hours and organizing every small detail meets a child who simply does things. The battle is emotional, I hope it will be traumatic for Bernice. One of those positive traumas that make you understand that you’re a mess and it’s time to change. Shannon has a lot to teach her. It would be nice if in the future Bernice will be able to follow her emotions, without panicking or feeling guilty. Just go with the flow.

Does Bernice not like children at all, or just Shannon? I’d have thought she’d be more encouraging of her imagination.

Hey Bern, YOU said “books are full of imagination.” Think about the mermaid romances that you couldn’t tear your self away from. I think Shannon’s on a roll.

Geesh, Bernice, the same way Trixie talks to everyone or Marvin talks to Bitsy – ‘Thought bubbles’.

Whatever the plot, Bernice will try to psychoanalyze it!

It will probably be about Luann and Bernice.

looking at bernice I’m reminded of what C. S . Lewis wrote to his god daughter Lucy- One day you will be old enough for faerie stories again.

Shannon is quite an artist.

I’m still seeing potential child author here. Stranger things have happened. Wonder if Shannon’s dad will ever turn up again?

Bern claims she wants to study psychology. Here’s her chance to get some “field experience” in the world of a child’s mind.

Bernice: “I got what I wanted, but I still demand to be a stick in the mud.”

For someone who wants to be a psychologist Bernice is certainly open in showing her disdain/boredom for people. She is awful.

Shannon is very educational. Bernice’ll be larned up afore ye know it.

Bernice is such a drag. She is lucky even Shannon can stand to be around her.

“Don’t you know anything?”~~~Shannon. No, Shannon, she just really thinks she does, and doesn’t mind spouting out her idiotic, ignorant ‘knowledge’.

Shannon has a future in art.Our son knew at 5, he wanted to be an artist. Way different that his father & I, who had no idea what we wanted to be when we grew up – even in college. In 1st – 2nd grade, John’s teacher had the class collaborate to create books. John drew & others came up with a story.He is now an Illustrator. (Thank you Cornish College of the Arts).

And let’s remember that Bernice still thinks she can be a school guidance counselor.

Kids are about answers, not questions. :)

I think both of these characters are damaged. Bernice acts like someone who has been told all her life she wasn’t good enough, and now has no idea how to relate to others that to give uninformed, critical advice, now disguised as “psychology” and Shannon is an abandoned child who is passed around to different relatives who are either too busy or too immature to raise her. It’s a truly tragic story being played out here.
