oh, great… now Tiffany’s getting involved by self-volunteering

Honesty is the best policy… Just not where Bets is concerned. lol

A quick reminder that on their first date Bets told Gunther that she had trust issues because of things that happened to her in the past. Tricking her into a phony situation in order for Gunther to talk to her is not going to play well.

An “open honest” “phony trick” – makes perfect sense. ;)

Sort of a play on the old saying, „Integrity, once you can fake that, you’ve got everything!“

Oh Brother, here We go.

One predictably BAD “Tiffany idea,” all but guaranteed to blow up in Gunther’s face like a trick cigar.

And what could Tiffany’s plan entail?

Making Bets “jealous” no doubt.

Tiffany will probably pretend to come on to Gunther. Probably online, where Bets (and her fans) can see it.

But what happens if Bets sees it, contacts Gunther and instead of getting jealous, wishes him well?

Or she doesn’t see it and everybody else does, and they get the wrong idea?

Or barring that What if Tiffany has Gunther practice “turning up the heat” in preparation for this set-up, (She’s done that before) just Bets barges?

Les may come home Saturday and find the joint roped off with crime scene tape.

Oh well. At least Tiffany didn’t abandon him. :)

To answer Gunther’s questions…. Yes, Yes and Yes. He misread the relationship and has come off as “desperate” since the dinner. I don’t think arranging a tricky meeting will somehow save this relationship. She doesn’t love him…it’s over.

Gun would be a total idiot to go along with even this little bit of plan so far. Ugh.

Now _this_outta be good! And it won’t be simple! 8^ )

Aw, Tiff. No need to scheme. Bets is on the way to knock on the door. It’s already destined. Just sit down and have a nice chat with Gunther. You can tell her at the door that she needs to have a sit-down-and-talk with Gunther and leave.

Tiffany is a “Master Professional” at social deception. Gunther should go on a Social Media platform that competes with Bets’ Social Media fans.

Notice how disappointed Tiffany looks to hear that Gunther told Bets that he loved her—of course while Gunther has his back to her and can’t see it.

SOP in Luannville. Is Bets the only one smart enough to talk to an adult?

The operative word is “phony”.

Nothing like a phony situation setup as an intro to an open, honest conversation.

Oh brother. There’s nothing to talk about. Bets has made her feelings perfectly clear. She’s just not that into you, Gun.

Gee, why not lure her to The Fuse by holding a Lingerie of Star Trek party.

Could be Tiff is lining things up for a shot at the G-man for herself. Naw! Her plans are usually not so complex.

Even leaving aside the deceptive nature of the plan… what’s the point? It’s obvious that Bets has already made her choice, and Gunther just looks bad by trying to force the issue.

There is no way that this ends well.

Are we watching a 1980s sitcom story arc? I’m waiting for the laugh track to go off.

I’d say dump the witch with a “b” and move on with your life Gunthy.

It would be funny if Bets had been attending a ComicCon and that was why she didn’t answer Gunther. There one that just finished up outside Pittsburgh; William Shatner was there…

But Bets is a phony! She sets up fake situations using poor “Gun” as a model to post online. He was never her guy, just a prop. Gun run! While you can.

Tiff, who I’ve never seen making out with a guy, has appointed herself Romance Rescuer. A romance is simple, like buying shoes, it either fits and feels good, or it doesn’t.

Since Bets and Gunther had lots of followers why hasn’t he posted comments on her web page/blog/Facebook or whatever account she was documenting for their relationship? Since Bets was obsessed with that she would see them and more likely to respond.

On the remote chance that there’s anyone who hasn’t noticed, the disconnect between Tiffany’s words in panel 3 vs. panel 2 is today’s punchline. It doesn’t necessarily mean that Tiffany will actually try to come up with a phony scheme to trick Bets into an honest and open conversation with Gunther.

Gunther could create his own page showing off his costume creating skills. Would likely be in demand and start traveling with the rich and famous spending a lot of time in their dressing rooms making last minute alterations. No shortage of cute fish in that sea.

Brilliant Tiff! Why didn’t Luann and Bernice think about that? But to be honest, Gunth should leave Bets the Crazy Girl in the Mental Institute.

Those two should break up. They’re not happy together.

Gunnie and Tiff conspiring, sounds like a theme from Beverly Hills 90210. Gunnie is obviously not Luke Perry’s Dylan or Brandon for that matter and he does not have the coin of Steve Sanders but he could be likened to David Silver with Tiff being a “Donna Martin” type of character with the rich father. Donna and David ended up together in 90210, so maybe this is a good omen for Tiff and Gunnie?

Tiffany, let’s not try to fix this one. Gunther is better off without Bets leading him around by the nose.

Tiffany to the rescue! She will surely find a way for make them talk. A phony situation that will give to Bets and Gunther a chance from a reconciliation♡, or for a proper closure. I believe in Tiffany!!!

Looks like hilarity will ensue.

Tiffany channeling Luann! That doesn’t sound like it would bode well.

Why force anything? Sometimes it’s good to leave well enough alone and just move on. You may just find out something that you really needed not to know. Like throwing salt on an open wound.

Or maybe Gunther could realize that with Bets, it was all about her internet presence and never about them as a couple, and he completely misread her interest in him. She bailed out when she realized he was a lot more serious about their relationship than she wanted him to be.

Gunther, you dodged a bullet, don’t go stepping in front of the gun again.

Tiff, stop playing matchmaker, playing with matches people get burned and it rarely turns out well for the matchmaker.

Wasn’t this an “I Love Lucy” plot?

Bad move Gun. She knows how you feel. You can’t force her to provide “closure” for you. And, even if you chase her and catch her, what then? Are you going to propose marriage? Are you going to follow her after college? Is she going to follow you after college? This is a college relationship. It was going to end at some time or you have to make some big decisions about your future together after college. Are you ready to do that? Getting back together only delays these decisions.

Or just date someone else? I’m pretty sure that Bets sucks.

The best thing Gunther can do is move on. And I realize that is EASY to say and HARD to do.

I think romance was not in Bets plans. She was just looking for a Cosplay partner.

DANGER, DANGER Gunther Berger!

This is where Tiffany excels. She did an excellent job of setting up Ann Eiffel to be arrested for fraud, and right after that Ann Eiffel never got arrested for fraud. All she did was return a little bit of money. Maybe better luck this time.

On the other hand, in the real world, Gunther would put on his big man pants and go see her. It’s not like he doesn’t know where she lives. He should know that he isn’t going to make any points at all with Bets by including one of his many female friends in playing a trick on her. If anything that would prove to Bets that Gunther really is a sniveling child. The writer for this comic is determined to keep everyone in Jr High. The plots get annoying sometimes but the drawings are good.

If he can get her online, and start engaging in “debate” with her, just think how her eyeball count would go up! Once she thought about it she would probably be ecstatic. Then Gunther should dump her, because since it seems that that is al she cares about, eyeballs over him, he should leave her to her fans.

Don’t you watch TV? Whenever someone fakes putting themselves in trouble, they never buy it and it ends up becoming real.

I swear, that Tiffany is as useless as the G in lasagne!

Well, Gunther should probably go confront Bets about what’s going on. Better than sitting around moping and waiting for her to show up.

Great idea! That should work out well. (Wearing my sarcasm hat today. )

Gunther might need to prepare himself to see Bets showing up with some new guy.

If anyone knows phony, it’s Tiff.

Gunther had been sinking deeper into doormat status. If Bets has lost all respect for Gunther, no discussion will revive the relationship. Time to move on.

so the small text are the sarcastic remarks (yesterday and today). Tiff is right in the 2nd panel though it is a statement of the obvious. As I suspected she sees Bets regularly as they take alot of the same classes (both being in the Business curriculum). The words phony and trickery give it all a bad flavor; but you could omit those words and see that what Tiff is doing is perfectly reasonable, i.e. she will just figure a time and place (knowing Bets’ class schedule) in which G and B will run into each other. For example, she could arrange a study session where Gunther shows up and then Tiff leaves. So many possibilities………..

Gunther’s best course would be to head off in another direction, and pronto

It sounds like Tiffany is thinking of a way for Gunther to “accidentally” be in the same place as Bets. Nothing wrong with that at all. Gunther deserves to get some answers from Bets after the way she dumped him. Tiffany does not intend to harm Bets in any way, just arrange a chance meeting for her and Gunther. Tiffany could arrange some social media event that Bets could not resist.

Tiff is a very unlikely relationship fixer-upper. But in the Luanniverse, anything can happen!

What was the name Tiffany used when she was Miss Chamber of Commerce or something? She could use that name to create a social media event so Bets would not it was Tiffany who created the event.

Let it go. I for one won’t miss Bets’ obnoxious personality.

Tiff’s methodology sounds suspect. But she does have a point.

Find honesty by deceit! ;-)It’s nice Tiffany has accepted and seemingly respects Gunther’s feelings for Bets. (Check) She shows a level of maturity by acknowledging they need to talk face to face. (Check) Her devious mind plots a solution, albeit (yeah, I know), misleading. (Checkmate!)This will be a lulu, and I can see whatever she cooks up going wrong six ways to Sunday. Will there be tears, gnashing of teeth, laughter, reconciliation? All of the above? Ah! ;-D The dramatic pause…….

If Gunther wants to know what Bets is thinking, he just has to check her social media.

If he’s been blocked, it’s over.

If she’s taking pictures with another guy, it’s over.

If she’s doing fun things alone and ignoring the inevitable fan questions about “where’s Gun? we miss Gun?,” she’s thinking.

If she’s off social media entirely, she’s thinking hard.

In either of the last two cases, she’ll owe Gunther a big apology for disappearing, but it may be salvageable.

In none of the above cases would a half-baked plot help.

Deception never goes well in this comic. Stay tuned for disaster.

Hah. This is pretty much how I predicted so far….. Tiffany is going to wrangle Gunther into some cockamamie scheme (for “hilarity ensues” purposes) for a while… before we get to some more substance….. either Tiffany will realize she has a “thing” for Gunther, or Gunther may realize Bets might not be who he is attracted to any longer.

There is another possibility. Betts May also love Gunther but she realizes that her family may object to him.

Hey, the goal to get them together, is a good goal. Gunther has tried the normal, rational ways already. Time to get irrational……

“Open & honest conversation.” Those are about as rare as Big Foot sightings.

And love that Tiffany cares enough about Gunth to help him. Just wish the author would dump Tiff’s helmet head hair and give our fashionista a fashionable ‘do. It’s pretty sad when Bernice is more stylish than Tiffany.

I don’t have high hopes for this plan, but at least Luann’s not here to dumb it down further.

If saying “I love you” months into a romantic relationship is “pushy”, then you’re in the wrong relationship.

Here’s hoping whatever issues Bets has aren’t a too big an obstacle.I don’t think she’s outright cheating on Gunther, and don’t think she would keep an ex-husband or child secretly from him. Maybe an ex-boyfriend had said he loved her before hurting her?Still it is incredibly selfish of her to just ghost Gunther. Needing some space might entail calling him after a day, but not weeks of not talking to him.If she’s following that poem “if you love something let it go free”, she has to let it backWonder if she cared at all or was just into games

I like how the Tiffany character’s face is drawn to show she’s as bored with this stupid “plot” as everyone else.

No that would be the wrong thing to do.

Oh, Lordy…and here we go. I wonder. Will hilarity ensue?

What if…and I’m just saying…what if Bets was in a car accident after she left Gunther in the parking lot and has been in a coma in a hospital all this time?

After all this time together Gunther must know where she lives.

Also, Gunther should keep his disheveled look, it is way better than his buttoned down one.

Wwell then, this just got intersting.

Tiffany has got the Lucy Ricardo look on her face. You have been warned, Gunther.

Looks like we’re getting the set-up for a “Tiffany’s Plan” that goes wrong. But at least Tiff is trying to be helpful to the Bummer-Gunner rather than overtly attempting to come between him and Bets. Indeed, Tiff and Bets are alike in some ways (self-centeredness most of all), so just maybe this scheme might actually work!

Truth via lies, honesty via deception? Me not think so.
