Well, he is drawing her complete figure, so I guess the body part idea is out.

Sadly, Mona Lisa stuff has been done to death. This certainly won’t be a very original concept from Nil.

I think it’s pretty clear she is not his Muse. She does not inspire him. She just frustrates him.

The sketches on Nil’s walls keep changing. Those today are full body sketches so he isn’t limited to drawing body parts.

I wonder how much longer will Nil put up with Bernice’s musings? As Luann’s friend she was fairly closed mouth, But here she’s become quite the chatty-cathy.

Bernice never did get what being a muse meant. Plus…..well, let’s be real, her thing with Nil is a FWB thing anyway. Eventually, that’s gotta end.

Nil, it’s clear that Bernice is not your muse. She is just a model and you conned her into this job by saying she’s your muse. Admit it and let Bernice go. She is not the model you need and find one who is more to your liking. Psst remember the guy she talked about getting a note from? She was once upon a time crazy about him. It looks like she’s conflicted about seeing him again. Let her go and see where she goes with that guy.

This is precisely why the camera was invented. Take a set of photos of Bernice, hang them up, thank her, and then turn off the phone for a while.

Bernice’s grumpy expression is kinda cute. She still has a lot to understand about being a muse. Probably she didn’t think there was a difference between inspiring a poet and a painter. Her reaction is exaggerated, angry and rude, as always. I hope Nil manages to work anyway, without thinking too much that Bernice might come back to see Piro. It’s nice to see that Nil decided to tackle a half-length portrait with a posing model, but he should learn that Conté chalk works best when held to the side, not using it like a pencil.

Bernice can’t do enigmatic, Nil. Now if you get Luann to snap a picture of her just being herself, you might have the perfect headshot.

I’m guessing Nil is a nickname given by a previous girlfriend for obvious reasons.

So he’s telling her in so many words what he needs, and she’s talking over him and not listening. Bernice is going to make quite a therapist someday.

Nil is the absolute right name for that cyclops nimrod, boy howdy. Does this strip need Ann ❤️ Eiffel and RIGHT NOW! And a Very Happy St Patrick’s Day from The O’Count, O’Countess and Ann ☘️ O’Eiffel.

His chances of creating a masterpiece here are Nil.

Typical Bernice. The one time I was actually on her side with Luann and the letter, she ruins it by going back to the same old, selfish Bernice.

Could this be any less interesting? Bernice is an annoying character.

Bern probably read every book she could find on muses and what they do or have done; but there is no ‘how to’ manual and she tries to act the role instead of just falling naturally into it. She doesn’t realize that it’s not about her and that there is no play book; she just has to connect with Nil and understand his needs.

Move on.

I think the whole Mona Lisa muse arc theme is just a setup. Bern is in an “inflection point” to overuse an overused expression, what with Walt/Pirouette also in play; there is a lot in play here in fact.

It’s too bad Nil ruined being a muse for Bernice (by telling she was going to be his muse). She can’t be a muse when she’s trying so hard at it. It’s supposed to be a subliminal relationship, where one person’s presence gives inspiration to another. At least he seems to have temporarily abandoned his wierd minimalist art style, which he’s probably wishing for right now. Just painting an ear wouldn’t have involved all this hassle with Bernice. Maybe he can do everyone a favor by suggesting she practice sitting quietly by herself… for hours and hours!

I wish Bernice WOULD learn to relax. She’s constantly wrapped up in the concept of what she is trying to be and never just IS. She heard “MUSE” and immediately started trying to “be muselike” despite it being her ordinary self that Nil claimed inspiration from. And now she’s pissy because Nil just wants her to model for him like any model would rather than fawning over her and claiming her every move as beautiful and inspirational. Chill, and get over yourself a little bit there, honey.

It was all fun and games when Bern and Nil were throwing big words at each other and making profound-sounding pronouncements about canvasses with only a dot or a line on them. Nil was (slightly) turned on by all that.

But now that Nil has gotten down to the being a representational artist, it’s a whole different ball game. And Bernice has no idea of the rules.

For a muse, Bernice isn’t very amusing.

Nil is being pretty mean to Bernice. He should have told her what he expected before they started. She looks uglier than usual in this wig and outfit.

So being passive-aggressive and emotionally manipulative yesterday didn’t work, so now she’s being pouty and bitter. Typical Bernice.

Clearly, Bernice has no clue how to just “be”; her mind is consumed with “doing”.

I mean, I KINDA’ get that Nil is married to his work and all . . . but I know I would prefer to do an ALL NUDE version of “The Mona Lisa” if Bernice was modeling for me!;)

One more complaint outta Nil, and I’m fairly sure Bernice will be GONE!But then, isn’t shooting ideas down what she constantly does to Luann?

She’s being a terrible model. She’s more worried about her appearance than his art.

In the late 1800’s when the Mona Lisa was first hung as art, someone stole it and the guards didn’t even notice it for two days!

even though Bern declared the relationship to be platonic, clearly she misses the way it was before.

Bernice is a control freak. If she can’t have it her way, whatever “it” is, she doesn’t want it. He never should’ve told her he thought of her as his muse; she immediately latched onto it and tried to control the concept.

We can’t be sure what Nil has in mind with his title “Why does Mona Smile”. I’m curious to find out what the Evans have in mind for the actual painting, if Nil manages to shut Pernice up long enough to get it painted.
