OMG!! Bernice is making a bold move by going on stage and acknowledging Piro’s gratitude. This is getting GOOD! LOL

It would be hilarious if she finds out he was really talking about Tiffany. hehe It’s great to see Piro finally coming out his shell.

This portends an a-muse-ing arc

Well, at least Bernice has had a positive impact on at least one life.

Bernice, can you not let him bare his soul, and not take credit. What is wrong with you.

Yes, it moves the plot along but it still seems presumptuous to end Piro’s talk with her own “thank you.” Give it time, let him take a breath of relief at finishing. At least say “Hello” first.

Big question is “Are we sure he’s talking about Bernice?” Magic 8 Ball says: “Cannot predict now.”

But who else could it be? Not Tara for sure. The only two others I remember him being involved with are Tiffany and Dez! Neither of which sounds like an interesting match up. The Magic 8 Ball is on the money with this one.

But, it was Bernice, NOT Luann that Walt watched movies with.

However, OTHERS helped Walter back from his journey to the abyss. So Bernice shouldn’t be so presumptuous as to take FULL credit.

Acting on baseless assumptions often turns out badly, and yet so many people do it constantly. See also today’s “Non Sequitur”.

The best way to be a friend here would have been to let Piro have his moment. Let him bask in whatever reaction he gets from the audience, snd then thank him (assuming that turns out to be warranted) in private later on.

Maybe that’s asking too much of a twenty-year old.

To me, he was saying that about Luann.

Bernice, what boldness! Piro’s story seems to have shocked her deeply, she didn’t expect to have been so important to him. I imagine she went on the stage with Luann’s help, she must have been happy to see her BFF there, even though Bernice had told her she couldn’t come because she was busy/she absolutely didn’t want to meet Piro. The moment is dramatic and the audience could explode in a standing ovation and asking them to hug. But how will Piro react to seeing her after so much? And how will Nil react when he’ll be informed about this? I like the contrast between the seriousness of the faces and Bernice’s muse dress. It’s really funny.

I want Piro to be talking about Dez…she’s the nurturer.

It can’t be that easy. I hope it turns out to be Luann or Tiffany.

It would be great if he’s talking about Dez. That would put a few pair of undies in twists.

The perfect Hallmark moment would be a kiss on stage.

That was quite moving. And a hope that in real life others find such light to help them.

“You’re welcome” wow, presumptuous little thing isn’t she? Even if he’s talking about her rather than maybe using a broad brush to thank a few kindhearted people who were good to him during a hard time; even then she comes off as an attention seeker to hop up on stage like, “Yes! It is I, the LIGHT! I’m here, like a beautiful muse! Everybody look at me too!” If she wanted to tell him “You’re welcome,” it would have meant more for her to say it to him privately rather than basking in the attention.

As unlikely as it would be, I would laugh so hard if Piro said, “I didn’t mean you, Bernice, I meant her!” points to Tiffany or Dez or Mrs. Horner or Luann, anybody but Miss Mademoiselle Muse then Bernice has to sit down awkwardly with a slightly less inflated ego.

I feel like Bernice just grows more and more unlikable. Piro is probably just talking about the kindness of a friend and Bernice is like MEE ME ME. I hope Piro gets with Luann, she hasnt had a romance in forever!

This seems like a set-up to a "This isn’t going to end well’ moment.

Nope. Not Bernice. "She " being Luann would be a twist, but too complicated for this comic strip. Someone we don’t see much of, or, if ever.

I guess K&G tired of the “muse” storyline between Bernice and Nil.

Ok, 124 comments in and if hasn’t been said this would be SUPER awkward if it isn’t Bernice!

Bernice is such a glory hog. I guess her storming on stage was for dramatic effect but it would have been a great kind of justice if he was talking about Tiffany. Too bad he already told Luann his story was about Bernice, so DARN! They missed a chance at a perfect plot twist! Bernice is going to be insufferable after this.

It sounds like Piro could have sat silently beside ANY body and had the same results. There was nothing special about sitting beside Bernice.

I’m not sure Bernice is visible to the audience. She could be behind the wall and only Piro could hear her. That makes a lot more sense than Bernice barging onstage and interrupting Piro. Maybe only the readers can see Bernice from this angle.

Bernice did not come onstage, she is standing backstage, behind the panel, and did we ever see what was in the letter………?

Why is she in her muse outfit?

The shock will be tomorrow! Piro will say, “Get off the stage, Bernice! I wasn’t talking about you! I was talking about Luann!”

Wow, Bernice truly is garbage. Now I’m actually hoping for a miscommunication and for her to not be the person he’s referencing here.

Wasn’t Bernice initially studying to be some sort of therapist or counselor? I don’t remember what happened to that storyline. But this could be a sign that she has an aptitude for it. I mean, it’s one thing to be a good listener to your friends, but another to be helpful to someone with serious issues.

Berniece looks more backstage than onstage to me. She’s sort of behind the backdrop. So I don’t think she charged up on the stage to speak to him.

So, it’s our noses we’re being led around by: all the very poignant and brilliantly written backstory about mystery man, Walt/Piro, the dramatic tension between him and both Lu and Bern, and, perhaps, between Lu and Bern. Still hanging, not resolved, Bernice, and in particular, still hanging, how emotionally, is it even her? So many cliff-hangers this Spring/Summer.

In the teacher’s eye (or a third party), it could be anyone talking to anyone for their needed help. Bernice thinks it’s her, probably not for a twist/ irony, But it was inappropriate to try to steal the spotlight.

Bernice doesn’t wait for him to leave the stage, and now I’m concerned she’ll make a scene. That would be a lame way to leave things on Sat. Anyway, it’s an important lesson that even a snide, smug, psychological mess like Bernice can help someone and make a difference by making a very small effort I guess!

Nice job Piro. I’ll be interested to see if it is Bernice Pork is referring to.

Nice! Wonder if Piro will comment on her outfit. I still think this is more a feeling of appreciation than romance, on his part anyway.

Let’s give a big hand to Bernice for taking Goodwill rejects and making a fashion fool of herself. Retro Eighties, Eighteen Eighties to be exact.

I think Bernice was just taken aback (caught off guard) to find that she had been so important to Piro and feeling a little guilty that she didn’t follow up on or even answer his letter, hence the ‘your welcome’ uttered from back stage. It is possible that her lack of response actually prompted Piro to write this piece instead. Had she met him for coffee where he would have been able to spill all this out to her, he might not have felt as compelled to put it down on paper.

Somehow all of this buildup on Piro’s speech doesn’t seem worthwhile unless we get a surprise Saturday.

Piro is not the only one who has seen the light. As has been said before, this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

I’d be surprised Walter was expressing gratitude to Luann or his cousin Tara instead of Bernice.

I think this is a perfectly lovely comic today. I don’t have a problem with Bernice coming onto the stage right away to greet Piro. the last couple of days have been surprising to me (especially today) but very nice!

Kind of a big assumption, there, Bern…

It’s about Luann.

I’d be concerned for poor Piro. The guy’s been through a lot, having to take care of his NINE younger siblings until he cracked and “escaped”. He had to grow up fast, shoulder a lot of responsibility, and tap resources to raise the kids. Bernice, with her snark, her superiority complex, her poorly-hidden neediness, her immaturity and lack of self-sufficiency, her fussiness, and her ability to lie to get ahead is the WORST thing for him.

Friends? Oh yeah, he could use friends. Girlfriend like Bernice? Noooo! Look at how the Zane relationship ended. It was going soooo well, until she made increasingly unrealistic demands for his time and attention. It got to the point where if he didn’t notice her new glasses, she got ANGRY. Then she wanted to rush him into promising to MARRY HER.

Dudes, run away from her!
