Well, the third panel glitches have stopped. That’s not a good sign. I wonder, were the glitches some sort of message to wake the Roombas and give them instructions for the invasion?
Burt, I highly recommend “Enterprise”. Trouble found T’Pol particularly fetching! ;D I have pictures to prove how avidly he admired her on screen and would try to attack someone who tried to attack her! ❤️
I’m thankful that ‘Enterprise’ is getting reappraised recently. It arrived at the end of ‘Star Trek’ fatigue and was never as bad as people thought. Well, except for ‘A night in Sickbay’ and ‘These are the voyages…’
I just watched some of the movies again and got some of the Easter eggs. Bones took a blood sample from the young Khan and injected it into a dead Tribble to see if the tissue would regenerate. Fascinating!
Burt-Ra: It looks like the Portentous Wind has died down for now. But be on the lookout for Things happening.
Beatrixia: I’ve been searching through the scrolls, and it looks like Queen Morticia and King Gomez of Castillo had a friend they called Thing. He could always be counted on to lend a hand.
Burt: Anyway, Trevor, Puck, and I are going to the oPyramid Gaming Room for an evening of Senat, Hounds and Jackals, and other games. Elvis should be joining us as well.
Bea: The Artisans and I are planning a trip to Afar to find out if the Nile Library has any further information.
Burt: Say hello to Beaver Lee Cleary for me.
Bea: I will. And we’ll be meeting Arachna there. She was gathering locusts for Nommy Nom Spider Treats. Made from sustainable locust plagues.
Burt: Well, all we can do is wait and go about our daily routine and prepare for the Thing.
Bea: I know all will turn out well when we are Dunn.
I must confess: I’ve been an SF nerd virtually all my life—I very fondly remember the TV show “Science Fiction Theater” which predated, so far as I know, all other SF-based TV, and rather like TZ, was effectively an anthology show. I of course remember ‘Twilight Zone’ as being some of the best of TV.
I watched the first 2-plus episodes of ‘Star Trek’; 2-plus because I didn’t finish the third one. Since then, aside from ‘Trouble with Tribbles’, I’ve never watched ST again. Someone wrote, back in the day, that Star Trek was “Wagon Train in space”. It struck me as true then. I can’t speak to any of the followup shows, as I’ve never watched any—note that I’m not a TV watcher, really. Some movies, some sports, some things which usually show on PBS—James Burke’s amazing series, “Connections” for one, ‘Iron Chef’ as my guilty pleasure.
I’m not, and absolutely would not—saying anything negative about folk who watch more TV than I, and even less would I insult those who love Star Trek. So, if it seems I don’t ‘get’ certain TV references, the above may help to explain it.
Oh. PS: we do have a couple thousand books in this house, a majority being speculative fiction of one sort or another.
TNG and DS9 will always have a special place in my heart because DS9 premiered when I was in college, and we’d watch new episodes of TNG and DS9 on a big projection screen in one of the conference halls every week. :)
Also, thems of you that like TOS, TNG and DS9, give Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds a try, they’re excellent and done with a lot of love for the original serieses.
I have found all the shows, animated and live action, to be fascinating along with all the movies except movie 5, which I watched once. SNW is my are favourite. Cannot wait for Star Trek:Academy to show.
There is a series of 3 books called These Are The Voyages one for each season of TOS by Marc Cushman that go into great detail about about everything “behind the scenes” for each episode. It helps explain how budget cuts helped tank the final season. Gene Roddenberry and Robert H. Justman gave their seal of approval to the book and gave the author access to “behind the scenes” information.
DS9 fan here. Some of the best lines and episodes, the crew of the Discovery end up in the same timeline as the Enterprise Trouble With Tribbles episode. And the one with the baseball game between the DS9 crew and a crew of Vulcans, Sisco; “Let’s hear some chatter!”, Kira; “Heree batter batter”, Warf, “Death to the opposition!” Quark was a hoot, with his ongoing rivalry with Odo
The Unicoi County Animal shelter was underwater and begging people to foster their animals, it breaks my heart that I couldn’t help, but I’m a little far from their area and my three elderly boys would not take kindly to strangers in the house, even temporarily.

So if the raccoons are Trekkies/Trekkers, does this mean the opossums are Star Wars fans?

They will remember this time in September
When their feed wiggled just like Jell-o
They will remember the kind of September
When Elvis acted far from mellow
Try to remember the kind of September
When Burt watched Star Trek with his weekly space bros
Try to remember and if Burt is your mentor
Then follow, follow
