What was she planning to do with a toilet brush?

Bernice must’ve had a hunch Luann was hiding Tara in The Fuse (or just stealthily followed her to The Fuse).

There should be some excitement in the next few days. I hope Luann doesn’t threaten Bernice with that brush!!!

How did Bernice know they were there? She went to bed after Luann left.

Tara better learn epithets such as “Gosh darn!” if she’s gonna live here in Utah. Oh, my heck!

BERNICE?? um….how FAST did you drive?? And Luann? How do you think the toilet bowl bush would protect you? Kill the intruder with the germs left on the brush from the toilet bowl? Novel idea but it would take a LOOONNNGGG time for the intruder to die, though.

That dish scrubber shouldn’t scare off Bernice.

I guess this means Bernice says, “Gosh darn” and that is how she was recognized instead of her just sounding like Bernice.

Since when did Bernice become Steve Martin, and whatever was she doing with that balloon animal?

So, likely, nothing terrible is going to happen.

The only question remains, is Tara really leaving, or will some other accommodations be made?

One thing clear: The Fuse ruse is about to flame out.

How did Bernice know Luann was hiding Tara at the Fuse????

Bernice was lying in bed arguing with herself when Luann drove away. By the time she got dressed, got to her car and followed, Luann would have been no where in sight. So how would busybody Bernice have known where to go? Now she’s psychic?

AND she walked into the Fuse seconds after Luann arrived. She must have been right behind Luann the whole time, and Lu didn’t know it.

So Bernice is not only psychic, she can turn invisible.

I’m having a hard time understanding why Bernice even thinks it’s her business? I get that, when she thought Luann might be hanging out with Jack, there was jealousy involved. But when she realized it was Tara, she overreacted . Tara’s not her concern. Tara doesn’t go to Mooney U anymore. It’s not up to Bernice who Luann is friends with. It doesn’t even matter that Tara & Luann are in Fuse when it’s closed or that Tara has stayed overnight in The Fuse—that’s between Luann and her parents when it comes to light. So, Bernice, what is fueling this? Is this going to be a lesson for Bernice in boundaries?

It would be SO interesting if Bernice winds up moving out and Tara gets the room at the DeGroots. However I’m afraid that’s not where this is going.

It took five years for the brownie that Dez gave Bernice to take effect – and just now Bernice is raiding the Fuse kitchen in the middle of the night.

Bernice is getting downright stalker like.

Maybe Bernice is stumbling around ‘cause she can’t see out of her Jason hockey mask, which she put on so she could scare the bejeezus out of Jack and Luann while they were engaged in amorous activity in the storage locker at the Fuse, ….. of all places ……….

Ok, I missed the mark on that one, you guys who knew it was Bern were spot on and I did not anticipate Bernice being the bump in the night…..

Now then, Luann has every right to be angry but she also needs to realize that Bernice could narc her out and make life very difficult concerning Luann and her parents. I am sure Tara is going to put her $0.02 in and take a swipe at Bernice too being that she seems to blame the former RA for her expulsion from Mooney U. Bernice has a situation similar to Ferris Beuller’s sister did when she could have buried her brother concerning Principal Rooney but instead decided to cover for him and save his bacon. Does Bern go against her instinct and keep quiet though her instinct would be to scold Luann, go off on the “Mooney thief” and then notify the parental unit???? Interesting.

OK, how did Bernice follow Luann to the Fuse when she was in her nightclothes and in bed when Luann drove off? By the time she decided to follow Luann, got up, got dressed, and hit the road, Luann would have been long gone.

And if she didn’t find Luann by following her, why would Bernice think to go to the Fuse? She had no reason to think Luann would be there. i would think Bernice would go to the dog park instead.

As far as what happens next, I imagine tomorrow they’ll start bickering (although Tara’s leaving town so that problem is solved anyway) and then the crazy cousin will show up on Saturday.

Bernice has crossed the Rubicon, it seems. Les jeux sont fait.

As of this moment I would inform Bernice that she better check if she could sleep on her parents couch.

I figured it was Bernice. People were saying yesterday it couldn’t be, since she wouldn’t have time to get dressed and follow Luann. But she already had a good idea what was going on, with regards to Tara and the Fuse. And the story the last few weeks has centered mainly around Bernice’s misconceptions of what Luann was doing wrong, which are now to be dispelled. And replaced with correct conceptions of what Luann is doing wrong. (Though helping a friend in need is still admirable, and hard to see what else she could have done).

Too bad. White I EXPECTED the intruder would be Bernice, I had HOPED it would be a real burglar ( or something similar) to add some real spice to this arc. Only THEN might Bernice show up and of course, (inadvertently, save the day. LOL

So does Luann explain herself being at the Fuse, giving Bernice a chance to narc her out to Frank & Nancy, or does Luann tell her to mind her own gosh darn business?

The role of Bernice will now be played by Gladys Kravitz of the sitcom Bewitched

Aww nuts… the writers blew it. How did Bernice get out of bed in time to catch Luann? How did she get into the restaurant complex, does she have a key? Does Bernice have a car and if so then for the cost of a car she could have an apartment. G&K really scr*wed the pooch on this cluster f***.

“Back off! I have a toilet brush, and I’m not afraid to use it! You’ll have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands, dammit!!!”

Even Bernice is capable of something more colorful than “gosh darn”. Not living up to her potential, is she?

Has anyone considered that maybe Bernice came in through the front door that was conveniently left open for Tara’s “crazy cousin?” Is Tara fleeing to Utah with loot from The Fuse? (Or am I forgetting that this is wholesome comic strip because I’ve been watching too many cable TV movies?)And yet, I’ve been puzzled that Luann forgot how condescending and mean Tara was to her in Zebo’s art class. Bernice may be right about How naive Luann can be.

NO!!! Not the toilet brush!

On one hand, HOORAY! Is not Tara’s crazy cousin! On the other hand, Oh no! Bernice has put a spy app on Luann’s phone (or something alike) for follow her! Tara and Luann were really scared, Luann was also prepared to use a toilet brush against the potential enemy! Looks like Bernice is really trying her “best” for win the “Most Nosy Strip Character” trophy of the year! Plus a special mention in the “We have zero faith in our BFF” section.

I don’t think the explanation will be very convincing as to how Bernice managed to follow Luann here. She could have used an app to locate Luann’s phone, for instance.

But that’s not important. She just needs to say “I followed you” and it’s good enough.

What matters is the consequences, not the how. We have seen enough situations that were not very logical to know not to nitpick on realistic details in this comic (among others).

You don’t want to spend a week seeing how Bernice follows Luann, 3 frames at a time. It would spoil the surprise. And true, the week could have started with Luann knocking at the Fuse’s door but the writers are not very light handed and they wanted to open the week on Bernice’s turmoil, which is logical as this arc started from Bernice’s POV. She is the central character in this story.

Finally, Tara’s cousin could be a member of the Bernice’s school of cussing.

The R.A. (Roving Antagonist) is omnipresent.

Look at the direction of the “Exit” sign. The opposite of where the noise and the female voice (of Nancy) is coming from. If I’m right, all the Bernice haters will be embarrassed!

You know, I don’t think a friend who doesn’t respect another friend’s privacy is a very good friend. Bernice should be leaving Luann alone and not chasing her around spying on her.

personally I try to never touch those things.

The illustrations are drawn with incredible skill today. First panel is excellent. Tara’s expressions are spot on. She looks subtly beautiful with soft curves in her face. Check the body language. Tara is not afraid. Luann more cautious.

I knew it. Bern cannot keep her nose out of anything. She would never be a friend of mine. Not sure I could trust her.

A toilet brush can scratch you quite a bit.

Called it! I knew it was Bernice! :D Definitely a great choice in the toilet brush for defense, Luann. haha!

Does EVERYONE have a key to this place?

I’ve been predicting that these arcs will merge. I also called the “bump” was Bernice. The merge is that Bernice is, due to her jealousy over Jack, whom she needs to face up to in terms of feelings, is very worried about her friend. My grandmother used to say one gets maddest at the one they are closest to because they are so close, and this is Bernice. But GnK have adroitly merged the two arcs together so Bernice sees why Luann has been keeping the secret, and I happen to believe that not only will Bernice understand in the end, but will try to help keep Tara safe in Pittsville, and Luann will end up having both friends stay with her. A trio not just a partnership. Now how that redounds with the love life of the girls remains to be seen, but if a character stays around somehow Luannverse protects and serves. Besides having a dangerous cousin adds a delicious bit of spice to the whole mix. I don’t think Tara is leaving, at least I hope she is not.

Several people nailed it yesterday by saying that it would be Bernice. Be well my friends.

Guess I forgot this strip doesn’t follow logic, if that is Bernice. But she may have a logical solution to this, IF they can get past the surprise, accusations and anger that will probably follow.

So did it ever come out in Bern’s presence that anything was going on at the Fuse? Even if somehow she magically got dressed and in her car in 2 seconds, how would she know to go there?

Bernice really needs to get a hobby. At least she could take a hint from that vintage lyric of Hank Williams: “If you mind your own business you’ll stay busy all the time.”

How did Bernice know where Luann went? She couldn’t have gotten dressed and in her car fast enough to follow her. The Fuse is closed so Bernice would not have guessed Luann was going there. She had to put a tracker on Luann’s phone or car or Both. Wow! She really is a crazed stalker.

Wonder where Tara goes during the day? No job, no school?

Let’s see… large kitchen knife – no… rolling pin – no… frying pan – no… whisk – YES!!!!!

IF it is Bernice, she will have a lot of explaining to do. Luann has a key to the Fuse and is allowed to be there, and Bernice does not know Tara is staying there at night. So there is Nothing for Bernice to accuse anyone of. She needs to explain How and Why she followed Luann.

Gosh darn it! Fiddlesticks! Now jiminy cricket, what in carnation are y’all doing here?

Bernice would have to get out of bed, get dressed, get into a car and drive very fast to the Fuse to get there just as Luann (with a head start) and get/take keys from Luann’s parents to get in through a different door…all without knowing if that was the destination where Tara was. Even if Luann stopped to get gas, simply not enough time. Not Bernice unless the author ignores the impossibility of it.

I’m thinking this is either all Ben or Jack. Hmm, what if it’s Les? Perhaps it’s Ox? Who knows but if it was Bernice, it would be such a quick drive over. Also these women keep forgetting to close and lock doors.

Bernice needs to fill out a change of address card at the post office..she’s moved to Crazytown. She might even be the Mayor.

Busy body Bernice. This just proves that she cannot trust her own best friend.

gosh darn it, how did Bernice jump out of her bed to get in her car, to follow Luann’s car, which had already departed several minutes previously, and still catch up with Luann’s car, which she shouldn’t have been able to see? gosh darn it golly heck shoot goodness oh my gosh my golly darn bull shoot jeepers! I bet “Luann” fans use their horrible low standards to believe whatever Grego wants them to believe. At least it’s not the Kwazy Kouisin, who is such a naughty person Tara hasn’t even been able to say why yet! Kwazy Kouisin probably stole a really big TV tho, golly! (Honestly, I don’t know how Grego can write this stuff day after day—I feel sorry for the guy.)

Bernice’s Dream Sequence #3:

Pru will show up by the end of the week in top hat and tails belting a number about “party panties” with Jack there to do the lifts.

Bernice opens her mouth again and SHE’LL be living in the storeroom!

It looks like Bernice (or someone) is approaching the storage room from inside the Fuse doesn’t it? There’s an exit sign and other information posted on the wall outside the room.

I’m confused: Bernice is inside The Fuse? The EXIT sign wouldn’t be on the outside. How did she get in? I thought the storage room opened to the outdoors.

Bern doesn’t know about the storage room and its outside entrance. So naturally she would go to the front door (if she thought Luann was there). And what if she found that door to be unlocked?
