I still think Gunther’s costume is weak. Dahl isn’t doll. If that were okay, then he could’ve dressed up as Luann’s pool party arc.. because it was Dull. ;)

Say what you will about Dolly Parton, but she is truly a gem and a treasure. Here in Tennessee, she has done so much for underprivileged children in rural areas, particularly her hometown of Sevierville, because she knew what it was like to grow up in an underprivileged environment, and never lost sight of that . . . unlike our state’s (and really, our country’s) politicians who claim that know what it’s like to have to work hard to make something out of themselves, and then once they do, just dismiss the rest of us as being lazy and wanting free handouts from the government without working for it.

Yesterday Dolly, I mean Luann did not look that prominent in the balcony department.

Meanwhile I’m not sure if Tiffany really is “Curvy Barbie.” She looks a lot more like “Peekaboo Barbie.” I hope she’s wearing shorts under that dress(?).

In a way I’m relieved that The Runaway Bride has not appeared in today’s strip. Maybe if we’re luck they’ll leave her out of the party and pivot to Piro and the writing assignment next week and leave the Betscalypses to another novella.

For those who felt sorry for Ox during his “experiment” with Luann…here he is, talking, because he enjoys talking with Tiffany. Theirs was a mutual lack of interest. Now when Bets shows up, she’s going to have a hard time believing that “enhanced” Luann isn’t interested in Gunther, since they came to the party together.

Gunther’s costume idea is weak, yeah punny and all but Roald Dahl wrote a lot of books and just putting one cover on a thing on your chest and calling yourself Roald Dahl isn’t really impressive coming from Mr. Costume designer.

wow..i always thought Luann’s bust was much bigger than tiffany’s, the difference is Tiffany flaunts hers to every boy she sees…luann doesn’t, she ONLY flaunts her girls to boys she REALLY likes.

Dahl is a dead human author. They should have come as Raggedy Ann and Andy. Anyway, I guess we will see Bets on Friday for the showdown.

I always said Ox aint dumb. He’s a lot smarter than most think he is. Some times when you’re real quiet an reserved some people wrongly think you’re dumb, slow or a big clod.

Dunno if the idea for the costumes was Luann’s or Gunther’s. But since there’s already TJ dressed as Woody, it’s a good thing they decided to be original. The explanation was a must and I like Luann’s confidence. Like the skilled a actress she is, she totally got into her role. It would be funny if they asked her to sing something later, maybe a duo with another one of the guest. Let’s hope that Bets’ arrival will be welcomed with joy.

Tiff any is playing a game, but which I do not know. Did she invite Bets because they are friends? Why did she not warn Gunther that Bets was coming. I know Bets asked her not to, but Tiffany knew that Gunther was coming with Luann. If Tiffany was Gunther’s friend she would warn him about Bets, or not invited Bets to avoid the ugly scene that is about to happen. So is Tiffany setting up Gunther for humiliation or is she setting up Bets, who blew off staying at the Manse over summer even before Bets knew about the road trip?

Ox does not seem like the type who reads much. I’m amazed that he is familiar with Roald Dahl. I don’t think most people would understand Gunther’s costume and how it is a doll. This is really a stretch.

I just don’t get where they came up with these costumes – Tiffany in her too small little girl nightie, Gunther in his pretentions “I’m so smart” lame sign, and Luann dressed up as Dolly Parton…maybe Dolly Parton on the farm…doing chores…with no one around. That’s not a good Dolly Parton costume at all. Flannel shirt, jeans, boots…where is the glamorous woman we all know and love? F Grade on costumes for all of them! Is Mrs. Horner coming to the party?

Luann normally wears loose-fitting solid colors attire. Today, Luann is wearing a polka-dot shirt. A major change in attire.

She’s dressed as Dolly Parton. Of course she has padding, almost all females would need padding to look like Parton.

Gunther learned well from Bets. He knows how to stand by expressionless while the women talk.

Dare i say it? Dolly-ized Luann is actually more glamorous than Tiff (even discounting her expanding pudginess)! Gunther’s costume is effective enough, though typically pedestrian. Mr. Potato Head Oxford seems to have lost some weight (or girth, anyway)….
