A lot of people were right… Bets saved the day and fixed the toilet by jiggling the handle.

So whats in store for us on Monday?

Nobody has lifted the tank lid yet. Jiggling is temp.

As was widely predicted Bets jiggled the handle and all was fixed. So once again GnK prove then men was useless. Excuse me as I have this ax to grind.

I’ve never seen either a real or pictured toilet that had the handle on the right-hand side.

Someone needs to talk to Les and tell him that life is a everyday learning process. Learn from the experience, learn from failures…and move on. Everybody is a rookie at some point in their lives.

I wonder if Leslie’s lack of ambition comes from his mother? Or more specifically, a fear of BECOMING his mother.

While she makes it work, Ann Eiffel has always been driven by greed and deception above all else, and while we don’t know how Al made his living, and while he seems to be a lot more honest than Ann, he’s still shrouded in a bit of mystery. He doesn’t seem to be a bad guy now, but that’s no telling what his past was like.

Maybe Les thinks “being rotten is in my genes, so if I don’t excel, I’m protecting people from the me that I would become.”

At the very least, Leslie’s trying to be better than when he was in high school.

Perhaps the lads should tell Al and Irma that Bets fixed their little “plumbing problem” and saved them hundreds of dollars.

Then maybe the Grays would treat Bets better.

As embarrassing as this solution is Les….trust me, you’ll learn to cherish the simple fixes in life as opposed to having go through the efforts to “remove the toilet”!

Odd that the handle is on the right. It is a good idea to put some food coloring in the tank at least once a year to check if it leaks into the bowl.

I’m quite disappointed that Gunther doesn’t know how to fix the loss either. But luckily Bets knows how to deal with small everyday problems, probably she had more experience in living on her own than the two cousins. Love her smile in the second panel. Les isn’t satisfied by himself anymore, but he has a cat that adores him, it help a lot.

What is it with this strip and basic repairs? We’ve seen Toni use a torque wrench to remove bolts [6/4/13] (when the torque is zero you’ll know it’s off!) and a pipe wrench backwards until the fitting broke and flooded the laundry room [6/30/18]. And now instead of splurging twelve bucks on a good flap valve, Bets here commits to a lifetime of jiggling the handle. Which is somehow a metaphor for her relationship with Gunther but I don’t wish to explore that any further thanks.

If it had to be “jiggled”, the problem will return. Eventually jiggling will not be enough. Replace the appropriate parts before it becomes an emergency.

is the toilet clogged or not? that’s a bigger issue than water leaking out of the tank, which can be solved by making sure the rubber flap completely seals the hole through which the tank empties; jiggling the handle lifts and re-positions the flap. Was Les treating one problem with the solution to another?

Awww. I really like Les and Punk!!! There is something so special about the way Greg draws Punk. He has captured cat perfectly! And look! Bets showed Punk how to jiggle the toilet handle!

It’s a hidden talent of mine. A lot of problems can be solved by knowing what to search for. It was true in the library card catalog, and in the yellow pages phone books, and now in Google as well. You can find anything as long as you ask the right questions.

Take the top off, pull the float lever or the float up to stop the toilet fill.

It probably clogged because it’s a left-handed toilet.

Les can’t be ALL bad if he loves a kitty and the kitty loves him! (but then, kitties tend to love whomever feeds them!!)

I was wondering why Les was acting like it was a clog when it was just making noise!

He did try. Punk is so cute and loves Les.

Bets saves the day, but Les remains true to himself. Not a bad outcome.

Ever the playful cat, Punk is attracted to all things moving and jiggling including the toilet flush handle.

Look at it like this Les, it got fixed.

As long as you provide a lap, food, water, and, a clean litter box, you’ll never be useless to Punk, Les.

If jiggling the handle makes it stop running, he needs a new flapper valve in the tank.

Well, the situation could’ve been a whole lot worse. Thankfully, it wasn’t. And at least Les tried to make himself useful. That, in itself, is a learning experience.

But right now, the best part is that Punk is there to offer him some much-needed love and pet therapy.

Punk always makes Les feel better! I love the way that cat is drawn. He has such personality conveyed in subtle touches.

Les loves his cat. And his cat loves him. There is still hope for him.

He’s useful to Punk, a warm body to lie on.

Someone can be or feel pretty much totally worthless – and still someone or some cat will still love them

You should because everything you doing was wrong Les.

Somebody who you wish would get OUT of the toilet

The chain gets twisted and jiggling the handle shakes the chain and increases the effective length so the internal seal gets seated again.
