This is a little too abrupt for me. Nancy goes to work at the Fuse and she is not there for more than a few days before she decides to become entangled in Tiffany’s drama and then ::BOOM!:; Ann Eiffel shows up in fully screaming mode. This is too fast.
They should let Nancy settle into it. If she launches into Ann Eiffel now, it will not resonate with the readers that Nancy is the one doing this. Nancy may not like Ann Eiffel for how she treated Brad at Weenieworld, but if you were weigh that against Tiffany’s long list of bad things she did to Luann; she might want side with Ann.
However, this could go the same way that it did when Bets developed her master plan of helping out Tiffany was mentioned once and never seen again. There seems to be a sequence of: Character says, “I am going to help Tiffany.” and then nothing.
Okay. I’ve known that Ann is a villain and thoroughly hate her guts, but when she uses the word “woman” in that derogatory way toward Nancy, that’s something I won’t tolerate. At. All. I hope Nancy lays down the law and bars the b***h from that place for life.
Nancy:“hmm, really? if you were such a good manager at weenie world and you know so much about how to run a successful business. why aren’t you still AT Weenie World?”
Keep it simple. Call the EMS and request an ambulance for a customer who seems to have had a psychotic break……..and don’t forget the straight jacket. And, for good measure, send the police, too, in case she gets violent.
Ann expects people to be insulted and ridiculed and serve her. Not a god, but an unwelcome intruder who came to injure. Ann is a thief which brings grief.
Consistency here: The good looking women are the troublemakers in this strip.

Tiffany WAS the villain in this strip – when she was skinny and, in the opinion of many, good looking. Perhaps we should have taken the hint right then when G&K put the weight on her.

Hmmm the Karen thing again. I could comment on that but I perceive it as a female who uses White girl and supposed class privilege’s over those she feels don’t measure up to her somehow. I like how the body language is drawn between two grown women here, one who owns the very establishment where the employees are being so rudely insulted. This is not an experienced grifter, used to tricking or bullying her way against kids, or vulnerable young adults, or older upper middle aged men who are easily swayed by a beautiful women, rather she is sparring with an experienced, calm, smart, lioness of a woman, who I believe has a very distinct ability to separate out the bull hockey pucks from reality. This going to be, in a distaff sense, like cool Muhammed Ali against Jolting Joe Frazier in the Thrilla in Manila, and who won that? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think blows will be exchanged, unless Ann throws first. Then I am sure whose feminine derriere will get thoroughly kicked. Frank might have to bond out Nancy though.
Ann Awful reminds me of why I HATED working with customers. The customer is ALWAYS the customer and deserving of respect, but the customer is almost NEVER right.
“I’ve managed Weenieworld, I know a thing or two” is the most uninspiring statement I’ve heard. Is she referring to the restaurant or her activities with Tiffany’s dad?
Sometimes things are not what they appear to be. Why be quick to judge? Why not show a humane front and force your opponent to show their hand. Nancy is playing her head game and is equally as shrewd as she is. Don’t be mistaken, I’m sure she had to deal with plenty of poisonous snakes in her past and is a very skilled snake handler. Ann may appear to have power, but sometimes appearances can be deceptive as her past has always proven to be. Nancy is smart and an adult, she is fully aware and equipped to deal with whinny bratty children.
They may be talking but who else is listening as well? You just never know what greater power maybe equally as interested also and is using Nancy to draw her out into the open. This could very well relieve Tiffany from Ann at last. But that real bear may be too big to kill here without several bear hunters with really big guns. Creating a safe haven for Tiffany though could have a positive impact on her grades at school ultimately. In some twisted way your enemy could become your best teacher regardless of their nasty fangs and spewing venom. Just avoid the head and you’ll be ok.
Nancy understands what kind of person the client is and has left her gentle side to enter the battle mode. Ann is absolutely not impressed by this and continue her attack. This is getting better and better!!! GO NANCY!!!!
Wait till Nancy realises that this is the manager from hell that was managing Weenie World when Brad was working there while getting ready to retake his physical qualification for the Fire Department.

I think you have to tie TIFF’s meltdown last week over failing grades to Ann’s appearance at the Fuse. Ann and Tom must have received a transcript from Mooney U. and learned that Tiff is flunking out.
Apart from Ann — I think the next step for Tiff will be moving out of the dorm and into the DeGroot house. And she’ll transfer to the community college. That’ll solve her money problems and let her get a grip on her academics in a more supportive environment. She can always transfer back. It’ll also tie Tiff’s storyline back to Luann’s.
Anybody ever think that maybe Ann might have something to do with Tiff’s bad grades? Maybe some money under the table to insure that. Force Tiff back home and further under her thumb?
Panel 1: Nancy is acting properly as the manager in that she is professing a willingness to diffuse any issue an apparently upset customer may have. Displays apologetic, subservient posture
Panel 2: Customer presents self as person intent on being boorish, obnoxious and belligerent. Insults Nancy’s competence as a manager. (Luann1212 might say Awful Annie is throwing shade at Nancy.)
Panel 3: Nancy abandons her appeasement posture and assumes a posture of equality with the customer. She now indicates a willingness to “do battle.” who u?
Oh, don’t forget: Mr. Gray could come into play here, too. This is about to become a free-for-all… a Brawl that would make Irma look like a spring shower.
This could go a number of ways. However at this point GnK have positioned Awful Annie in a position to get her comeuppance. Nancy’s encounter with Ann is likely to exhibit maturity and self confidence. As opposed to Tiffany’s powerlessness and Pru’s emotionalism.
So- we have all talked about how Ox and Ann don’t seem to recall their interactions before, but what about TJ? How on earth has this not come up? And if memory serves, didn’t Brad tell his parents that his boss ay WW was horrible? Do you think that Nancy will realize this is the same woman that Brad complained about for so long?
Also- please help me remember- Brad worked at WW in high school and then took a job there when he didn’t make the cut to be a fire fighter – right? (or was he already a fire fighter and was fired? Who remembers?)
As much as I’d like to see Nancy (or TJ) give Ann her comeuppance, Ann is a major Karma Chameleon. She’ll find a way to weasel out of any consequences from acting a like a jerk to the K2 staff.
Panel 1- Following normal business protocol. Apologize as the customer is right or at least until the rant is aired. Panel 2- Ann, proves sexism works both ways assuming the manger is a male. 3- Ann, still trying to hold the upper hand in this but is about to have her azz handed to her in tomorrow’s strip. Since it is early in the week we might drag this out for 3 more days.
I think you missed the snark from Nancy in the last panel, I saw no timidity. In fact, she has her arm poised to sock her in the jaw; especially when she finds out that AE was running a con out of the fuse.
Once Upon a Time (but this ain’t no fairy tale), restaurants and retailers had signs in their windows: “We Reserve the Right to Refuse Service to Anyone” so basically if you caused trouble or were cruel to the staff, you were BANNED from the restaurant/store. Actually, I’ve recently heard of Walmart still applying that policy. If businesses don’t have that rule – they SHOULD and DISPLAY it and ENFORCE it!!! I’ve worked retail for nearly 10 yrs and you won’t BELIEVE how ROTTEN people can be when we’re only trying to help you. Trust me – the customer is NOT always right! They lie, cheat, steal, and they’d kill if they thought they could get away with it. Ironic that nothing makes you HATE people more than working in Customer Service jobs.
So far Ann has dealt with and intimidated inexperienced young adults. Nancy is the head of her household (sorry frank) and has the skills to manage immature behavior. I’m putting my money on Nancy.
Please, let the planets converge here. Allow Nancy to handle it, but even though it might defy logic (hey, it’s a comic strip) bring in all who’ve been wronged to witness Ann’s humiliation. There could be an applause punctuated walk of shame as she exits. Let the woman see how her family has been embraced by the Degroots and bring her a tinge of sadness. Not just furied defeat. This I pray. Amen.
Folks here seem to advocate fighting fire. Not this time. Ann is like a child having a tantrum and Nancy knows this one. She is used to getting a rise out of someone, craves power (over others, like Tiffany’s Dad). Everyone should do her bidding (and wet their pants in the process). But it’s not happening; Nancy is making sure of that. No one is becoming agitated or running (in circles) in response to her. You can see how confused and upset she is becoming….“sit here… no get my order…this… that”. I think Nancy expertly realizes that Ann will just burn herself out.
Maybe Les will come to Nancys rescue and give Ann a piece of his mind or maybe he and TJ. Possibly les will call Al and he will stifle Ann. My favorite scenario is Ann will make such a scene the police will come and arrest Ann!
I"m surprised she didn’t call Ann out for calling Tiffany a name. Slow service is one thing, but being so rude to people is usually not something that management will put up with. I think Nancy will be classy though and put Ann in her place. Please?
Nancy’s facial expressions changed from concern to polite professionalism to you better watch your mouth in the last 2 panels. She’s already seen Tiffany break down, loves Ox, and had to listen to one of them be referred to as Blimpo, both of whom are hard-working. Her mom radar was kicking in earlier, her businesswoman drive kicked in at the beginning of this panel and by the end of this strip that arched eyebrow after hearing Ann assume the owner was a man and then telling her to get busy suggests Ann has a new enemy by the end of this week.
Nancy’s look of disinterest in the last panel shows she has already written off anything Ann is about to say. That’s a look that says I’m going to humor you and listen but you aren’t getting anywhere.
As a private business owner, Nancy’s got every right to throw Ann out for harassment and being a public nuisance and I hope she does. Ann may treat younger people rudely, but she can’t get away with it against a peer.
I actually don’t see anything wrong with apologizing up front. Ann’s still a customer and the idea is to let the customer think they’re getting a concession, even when they’re clearly wrong. Nancy’s respectful and even-tempered response has her in control even if Ann doesn’t realize it. Her sitting at the table at the last remark tells me that she’s got this.
while we are on the subject:WHAT DOES BYE, FELICIA MEAN?Bye, Felicia is a dismissive term which can be used in a number of different contexts. Most simply and frequently, it is used as a cold way to bid someone a less-than-fond farewell.
I don’t recall Nancy ever being really tough with anyone, except her husband. I don’t think Ann will get what she deserves this week. Nancy is not tough or mean enough to deal with people like Ann. Nancy does not seem to know anything about Ann’s past and her dealings with TJ, Tiff, Brad or Luann.
I am confused! There has been all this pain and drama caused by Ann to different characters but when she comes along the only person who seems to remember her is Tiffany
The fact that Ann is actually boasting about having been manager one of the franchise outlets of a comically named hot dog place as evidence of her experience tells me that she hasn’t done much with her life since then other than nab a (presumed) millionaire and sell fake lingerie. At best I might have said “I’ve been a restaurant manager…” which could imply somewhere more prestigious.
From yesterday’s last panel to today’s first, it doesn’t really flow or make much sense. Someone just says to you get my order and fire Blimpo and the first thing you say is I apologize? How about ‘Excuse me? You have no business insulting my staff!’. Although then Ann knows right away that Nancy is a boss and not a staff member.
Because your won’t shut your Piehole long enough to let someone find out and resolve the problem. Nancy doesn’t even know what you ordered. So how is she going to resolve the issue.
Back when Shannon bit Evil Annie’s finger, I ventured a guess that Ann might be Shannon’s mom (to this date, it never has been revealed who Shannon’s mom is). A number of commenters replied that surely Ann would recognize her own kid, so the idea of Ann being Shannon’s mom did not get much traction. Now, we have a situation where Ann apparently did not recognize Ox, and Ox did not recognize her, even though they had plenty of face time during Ann’s take down at Weenie World. At this point, it appears that the only one who knows who Ann is is Tiff. Therefore, it follows that, if no one but Tiff knows Evil Annie, and Evil Annie knows no one but Tiff, by the same token, Annie may not have recognized Shannon to be her daughter. And, at the time, Shannon may have been too young to remember Ann as her mom. We know that it was finally revealed that Ann was Les’ mom, so it is possible that some time in the future, it may be revealed that Ann is Shannon’s mom.

In an interview some time back (2013?), Greg was asked about the two Shannons that looked alike – Shannon Lewis (that Luann used to babysit along with her sister, Lindy), and Shannon Daytona. I forget the exact wording Greg used in his reply, but it was something tantamount to he had forgotten about the original Shannon when he re – used the name and image.

It still would not surprise me if Evil Annie was indeed Shannon’s mom and it has just not been revealed yet.
Good for you, Nancy! Calm, composed, and totally unimpressed. That must really annoy Ann who is more used to the youngsters she can bully as much as she likes.
To those who find it difficult to believe that any customer can be so difficult: recently, an ice cream shop in the US partly reopened under the ‘Phase One’ of recovery from COVID-19 closings, and customers were so abusive and insistent on speeding up their orders that a teen girl quit in tears. And here in Central Florida, a man was so angry while waiting for his order at a deli counter in a Publix (major grocery store) that he pulled a gun on another customer…
Nancy, a friend of mine is an umpire, and he has a saying he keeps in mind when a player or coach starts to argue: Even if I don’t know which of us is right, I know which of us is going to win the argument.
Why does everyone think Brad went crying to mommie with stories about how he was treated at WeenieWorld? He’s a grown man, why would he do that?
I posted this comment earlier, and some people replied to it, but then the comment and all the replies disappeared. My comment is back now, but the replies are gone.
I should add: Mr. Evans? Nancy is masterfully drawn. Every nuance is just so, in her face, her arms, her fingers, in her leaning forward towards Ann’s personal space in the last panel not allowing herself to be bullied whatsoever. Well done.
One would think that a smart businesswoman like Ann Eiffel would know better than to behave like this. But Ann has clearly been living off Tom Farrell’s money for far too long. Now she is like a spoiled child, expecting Tiffany to wait on her hand and foot every time she comes there. This is as close as Ann can get to controlling Tiffany, since Tiffany no longer relies on her father’s money.
Even though her grades are not up to par, Tiffany still has the job to look forward to. So, as things stand with Tiffany right now, even if she dies flunk out of Moony, she can spend more time at the job, put money aside for a small apartment, and enroll in a college that offers classes in cosmetology.
But Ann has become obsessed with controlling Tiffany, and getting her fired would mean no more money outside of her father’s account. She would have no choice but to move back into her father’s home, where Ann would pretend to be the good mother of a troubled child.
But Nancy DeGroot is a professional mother, having raised Brad and Luann their entire lives. Nancy knows how to deal with difficult attitudes. She will be calm and collective, while Ann will rant and rave, making herself look bad to any and all witnesses.
No matter what happens now, Ann will go crying to Tom Farrell, pretending to be the victim. And chances are, Tom will believe Ann and only Ann. He doesn’t listen to his own daughter. Why would he listen to anyone else?
Ann may have found out that Tiffany is flunking school, and Ann might be trying to force Tiffany to go home to Dad and learn to be Ann’s poodle. Tiffany may know that Ann knows. So Tiffany is not coming to Ann’s table, and Ann is furious because she thinks she can force Tiffany to take s*** by virtue of being a paying customer.

Panel 2: Customer presents self as person intent on being boorish, obnoxious and belligerent. Insults Nancy’s competence as a manager. (Luann1212 might say Awful Annie is throwing shade at Nancy.)
Panel 3: Nancy abandons her appeasement posture and assumes a posture of equality with the customer. She now indicates a willingness to “do battle.” who u?

This could go a number of ways. However at this point GnK have positioned Awful Annie in a position to get her comeuppance. Nancy’s encounter with Ann is likely to exhibit maturity and self confidence. As opposed to Tiffany’s powerlessness and Pru’s emotionalism.

So- we have all talked about how Ox and Ann don’t seem to recall their interactions before, but what about TJ? How on earth has this not come up? And if memory serves, didn’t Brad tell his parents that his boss ay WW was horrible? Do you think that Nancy will realize this is the same woman that Brad complained about for so long?
Also- please help me remember- Brad worked at WW in high school and then took a job there when he didn’t make the cut to be a fire fighter – right? (or was he already a fire fighter and was fired? Who remembers?)

Panel 1- Following normal business protocol. Apologize as the customer is right or at least until the rant is aired. Panel 2- Ann, proves sexism works both ways assuming the manger is a male. 3- Ann, still trying to hold the upper hand in this but is about to have her azz handed to her in tomorrow’s strip. Since it is early in the week we might drag this out for 3 more days.

Once Upon a Time (but this ain’t no fairy tale), restaurants and retailers had signs in their windows: “We Reserve the Right to Refuse Service to Anyone” so basically if you caused trouble or were cruel to the staff, you were BANNED from the restaurant/store. Actually, I’ve recently heard of Walmart still applying that policy. If businesses don’t have that rule – they SHOULD and DISPLAY it and ENFORCE it!!! I’ve worked retail for nearly 10 yrs and you won’t BELIEVE how ROTTEN people can be when we’re only trying to help you. Trust me – the customer is NOT always right! They lie, cheat, steal, and they’d kill if they thought they could get away with it. Ironic that nothing makes you HATE people more than working in Customer Service jobs.

So far Ann has dealt with and intimidated inexperienced young adults. Nancy is the head of her household (sorry frank) and has the skills to manage immature behavior. I’m putting my money on Nancy.

Please, let the planets converge here. Allow Nancy to handle it, but even though it might defy logic (hey, it’s a comic strip) bring in all who’ve been wronged to witness Ann’s humiliation. There could be an applause punctuated walk of shame as she exits. Let the woman see how her family has been embraced by the Degroots and bring her a tinge of sadness. Not just furied defeat. This I pray. Amen.

Folks here seem to advocate fighting fire. Not this time. Ann is like a child having a tantrum and Nancy knows this one. She is used to getting a rise out of someone, craves power (over others, like Tiffany’s Dad). Everyone should do her bidding (and wet their pants in the process). But it’s not happening; Nancy is making sure of that. No one is becoming agitated or running (in circles) in response to her. You can see how confused and upset she is becoming….“sit here… no get my order…this… that”. I think Nancy expertly realizes that Ann will just burn herself out.

I"m surprised she didn’t call Ann out for calling Tiffany a name. Slow service is one thing, but being so rude to people is usually not something that management will put up with. I think Nancy will be classy though and put Ann in her place. Please?

Nancy’s facial expressions changed from concern to polite professionalism to you better watch your mouth in the last 2 panels. She’s already seen Tiffany break down, loves Ox, and had to listen to one of them be referred to as Blimpo, both of whom are hard-working. Her mom radar was kicking in earlier, her businesswoman drive kicked in at the beginning of this panel and by the end of this strip that arched eyebrow after hearing Ann assume the owner was a man and then telling her to get busy suggests Ann has a new enemy by the end of this week.

I actually don’t see anything wrong with apologizing up front. Ann’s still a customer and the idea is to let the customer think they’re getting a concession, even when they’re clearly wrong. Nancy’s respectful and even-tempered response has her in control even if Ann doesn’t realize it. Her sitting at the table at the last remark tells me that she’s got this.

I don’t recall Nancy ever being really tough with anyone, except her husband. I don’t think Ann will get what she deserves this week. Nancy is not tough or mean enough to deal with people like Ann. Nancy does not seem to know anything about Ann’s past and her dealings with TJ, Tiff, Brad or Luann.

The fact that Ann is actually boasting about having been manager one of the franchise outlets of a comically named hot dog place as evidence of her experience tells me that she hasn’t done much with her life since then other than nab a (presumed) millionaire and sell fake lingerie. At best I might have said “I’ve been a restaurant manager…” which could imply somewhere more prestigious.

From yesterday’s last panel to today’s first, it doesn’t really flow or make much sense. Someone just says to you get my order and fire Blimpo and the first thing you say is I apologize? How about ‘Excuse me? You have no business insulting my staff!’. Although then Ann knows right away that Nancy is a boss and not a staff member.

Back when Shannon bit Evil Annie’s finger, I ventured a guess that Ann might be Shannon’s mom (to this date, it never has been revealed who Shannon’s mom is). A number of commenters replied that surely Ann would recognize her own kid, so the idea of Ann being Shannon’s mom did not get much traction. Now, we have a situation where Ann apparently did not recognize Ox, and Ox did not recognize her, even though they had plenty of face time during Ann’s take down at Weenie World. At this point, it appears that the only one who knows who Ann is is Tiff. Therefore, it follows that, if no one but Tiff knows Evil Annie, and Evil Annie knows no one but Tiff, by the same token, Annie may not have recognized Shannon to be her daughter. And, at the time, Shannon may have been too young to remember Ann as her mom. We know that it was finally revealed that Ann was Les’ mom, so it is possible that some time in the future, it may be revealed that Ann is Shannon’s mom.

In an interview some time back (2013?), Greg was asked about the two Shannons that looked alike – Shannon Lewis (that Luann used to babysit along with her sister, Lindy), and Shannon Daytona. I forget the exact wording Greg used in his reply, but it was something tantamount to he had forgotten about the original Shannon when he re – used the name and image.

It still would not surprise me if Evil Annie was indeed Shannon’s mom and it has just not been revealed yet.

To those who find it difficult to believe that any customer can be so difficult: recently, an ice cream shop in the US partly reopened under the ‘Phase One’ of recovery from COVID-19 closings, and customers were so abusive and insistent on speeding up their orders that a teen girl quit in tears. And here in Central Florida, a man was so angry while waiting for his order at a deli counter in a Publix (major grocery store) that he pulled a gun on another customer…

One would think that a smart businesswoman like Ann Eiffel would know better than to behave like this. But Ann has clearly been living off Tom Farrell’s money for far too long. Now she is like a spoiled child, expecting Tiffany to wait on her hand and foot every time she comes there. This is as close as Ann can get to controlling Tiffany, since Tiffany no longer relies on her father’s money.
Even though her grades are not up to par, Tiffany still has the job to look forward to. So, as things stand with Tiffany right now, even if she dies flunk out of Moony, she can spend more time at the job, put money aside for a small apartment, and enroll in a college that offers classes in cosmetology.
But Ann has become obsessed with controlling Tiffany, and getting her fired would mean no more money outside of her father’s account. She would have no choice but to move back into her father’s home, where Ann would pretend to be the good mother of a troubled child.
But Nancy DeGroot is a professional mother, having raised Brad and Luann their entire lives. Nancy knows how to deal with difficult attitudes. She will be calm and collective, while Ann will rant and rave, making herself look bad to any and all witnesses.
No matter what happens now, Ann will go crying to Tom Farrell, pretending to be the victim. And chances are, Tom will believe Ann and only Ann. He doesn’t listen to his own daughter. Why would he listen to anyone else?

Ann may have found out that Tiffany is flunking school, and Ann might be trying to force Tiffany to go home to Dad and learn to be Ann’s poodle. Tiffany may know that Ann knows. So Tiffany is not coming to Ann’s table, and Ann is furious because she thinks she can force Tiffany to take s*** by virtue of being a paying customer.
