Sadly, I read this as Gunther leaving, and Bets and Tiff realizing their unexpected attraction to each other.

Congratulations to whomever it was who told 1212 that this was a Hallmark movie rip-off. 1212, I don’t often disagree with you, but on this one, I had to. This was a Hallmark movie rip-off – and not a good one, at that.

I’m glad that Gunther and Bets are back together, BUT!

A moment to stretch and grow the characters was completely swept under the rug.

Just hope we’re not pushing the „love and marriage, baby carriage“ theme to fast.

I’d hate for the cart to get ahead of the horse.

Congrats to Tiffany, while we’re at it, too. She has graduated from the strip’s villain to ditzy blond – but with a good heart.

Just waiting for her turn in the spotlight once again.

Yawn – A Hallmark ending. I think we should leave them alone as well. I am so ready for a new episode. Tara – stir up some trouble somewhere.

Bets asked Gunther to take her back. And the camera magically disappeared beforehand without Gunther having to say something about it. There is some basis to hope for a healthier future for these two love birds.

Bets is staying, yo. She’s just as important to this strip as Tiffany and Gunther. Cue the gnashing of teeth and rending of garments.

Well this has been fun. The total comments Bets gets is enormous as usual, mostly hate. Those who hate fall for the obvious story setups, those who don’t generally follow what appears to be the story. Gunther has a real gf, and the relationship has survived a big bump. Is that not normal? One thing I’ve noticed here is that Gunther, who is actually happy, is advised to run at the least excuse. Tiffany summed it up with her comment last week on “hard love.”. Love that survives adversity is forged like titanium. It does not necessarily go smooth, but it goes strong. If there is a moral to this story that is it to me. Of course Tiffany has to be the wise and funny vessel.

So the use of the word “Weeks” has been crated up, and it is being moved into the storeroom of forgotten plot holes, as we pan backwards to see crate after crate marked lingerie…..

Tiffany needs to excuse herself and go peek around a corner to get fulfilled.

I like the way all these kids are growing up and maturing along the way. Although there’s a certain Doonesburyness about it. Brad and Toni should have a kid shortly.

Well, that’s nice. It is a bit corny, but still nice.

I’m happy for them both. With everything in this world going wrong it’s good to see something good happening. It looks like Tiffany turned out to be a better counselor than Bernice.

Kudos to Tiffany for so unselfishly enjoying the happiness of others — despite that she’s a 3rd wheel who needs to remove herself, and stat. As for Gunther willing to “have” Bets, it will be always be the other way around. But given how he was raised perhaps that’s the kind of role he desires.

What we have here is clear telegraphy; foreshadowing that this love triangle will become quite the story line over time.

Told ya that Bets would let the refund and apology slide. This strip is so easy to predict. And yet I keep reading it. :-)

Pulchritude in the pagoda? A lanai love nest? A cupola of canoodling?

OK, Mission accomplished, Tiff. Now let them have privacy. And Gunth/Bets… relax, enjoy each other and figure it out. Keep communicating. You will, figure it out.

I thought she would want Tiff to film this as well. She would just post it for a different set of “fans”. Also the only disaster at the dinner was Betts.

I need to get some of that lavender scent and tea that Tiffany used on Bets. What a transformation! (might be a good idea to send some of those home with her) Interesting that all of the hearts in these drawings have been black, the dinner, the pagoda etc, and Tiffany is getting kind of creepy now, hanging around gazing at Gunther. Is that what it looks like when you help the boy you love find romance with someone else?

Well, we finally got here. And it all started with Tiffany waaaaayy back on June 14th with a knock on the Gulag door wakening “Mr. Grumpy.” — https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2021/06/14

It took four weeks worth of strips for Tiffany to work her magic. Gosh! It also took four weeks of strips for Jack to get Bernice together with Nil! Imagine that! — https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2021/05/10

Ah other point of interest. Both “rocky roads to love” included the female member walking away after an expression of affection. Bets after “Gunnie’s” Luv U blurt. Bernice after her “French-Kiss Floozie” episode. A kiss that lasted across two two days. (May 21 & 22.)

So what dos it all mean??? Jack and Tiff will hook up taking four weeks and become the Dynamic Duo of Matchmaking? Using their Combined Power of Romance to find Luann a hunk of her own?

Or “something completely different” as Rocket J. Squirrel would say.

Ah yes the Pagoda of a piece of crap !

There is a famous Drama Triangle axiom. “The rescuer always gets kicked.” In this case, Tiffany.

Wow a lot of miles in that story line. Took a long time getting this far.

And the beat goes on… the crisis averted ignoring the elephant in the relationship which means we have future crisis. So much like life it’s almost like you live it. Oh wait, some do;-)

Tiff needs to fade on ou of the scene. This is no time for a three way.

Two words for Tiffany: ’Clue" and “Less”.

I’m sure Tiff has a spare bedroom or twelve lying around somewhere…

Okay, I’m back to being fully in Bets’ corner.

She acknowledged Gunther’s right to participate in the decision-making.

She dismissed the question of financial interest. emotion on both sides.

She recognized this was a matter for two — not three, not thousands, not even us (other than me and thee perhaps, as long as we’re quiet — but I bet they turn off the panel and even exclude us). Not for show. Not a performance.

She was very kind to acknowledge my beloved Tiffany’s help and diplomatic bur definite in telling her to butt out — even though it is her maze.

And she only has eyes for Gunther the Great.

And “hearts is hearts no matter what color they is,” so we are visually told the true feelings involved.

On a side note: my beloved Tiffany’s tear of happiness for them is sweet and her nearly square eyeballs are worthy of contemplation. (Square eyeballs??)

Gunther has been wronged but has forgiven. I can’t let a drawing be a bigger man than I am. (In fact, few are.)

OK fine, but pretty soon all of Bets media obsessions will return Gunther, and you will have to put up with it all….

And on Monday, Rosa shows up from South America with a curly-haired three-year-old….

Whatever happens in the future, I’m rooting for Gunther and Bets to both to grow in good directions.

I think the black hearts are on purpose. They represent a lack of true love. (Sorry Scarlett). They are getting together because of a temporary need. Betts needs Gunther for her post, Gunther needs Bets for female companionship.

Well, this can’t end well.

Well Bets you never know, maybe Gunther is into threesomes.

This has taken so long, I don’t really care! What’s more concerning to me personally is that I caught nothing while fishing this morning!

Gunther needs to tell her to ditch the phone if they are going to do this. I still wish Gunther would run for the hills

Tiffany is in love with the idea of love, with ‘love’ itself. Someday she will have it herself. For now she did a good job of helping Bets to take her relationship with G on its own merits and not let past experiences with others cloud her judgement.

But Tiff also did not like Bets’ and G’s relationship going south as a result of her romantic dinner even though it was not her fault and she knew that, it was on her watch and I believe she couldn’t bear that especially since she got an A for the business concept assignment.

Some of you mentioned Tiff eyeing Gunther in a big way, seems relevant. Sudden attraction? Since she seemed sincere in getting Gunther and Bets back together moments earlier?

Betts has two important people in her life: herself and herself.

They now have what Tiffany wants!

Wonderful. Can we move on to another arc now, please? While I think this relationship will end in disaster, it might not. Readers have been clamoring for romance, so maybe we’ll actually see some growth in these two characters. Bets may learn to deal with her insecurities. Gunther might actually grow a spine and lay down some ground rules. Unicorns might fly past my house. Hey, it could happen.

Just like it was planned. Way to go, Now GO……

Greg has gotten soft…use to end relationships for a lot less. What is so special about this one??? Ended all Luanns relationships with the quickness

So, back where they started, minus those 3 words. Engaged? No. Just dating again.

Hmmm?, indeed! Looks like logic is kicked out by love again, in the Pagoda of Peace.I know it’s a comic, but I feel so let down after all the drama and Tiffany logic. Guess the therapy session was worth $300, but I wouldn’t bet that it has a lasting affect on Bets’ behavior. Sheesh!

I don’t know what’s worse… This pairing up or Granthony and Elizabeth over at the FOOB..

What a terrible end to this arc. Do they read these comments? The writing is awful and you should feel bad.

While I am glad for both Bets and Gun, it was a little too fast for everyone to just forgive and forget. Was Bets redeemed in this arc? I would say no. When they made up, it would have been nice if Bets forgot her fans and just focused on Gunny, but that didn’t happen. The ghosting … at some point Gunther is going to have a serious adult talk with Bets.

What a terrible ending to this story. Enough to make me quit reading this strip :(

Gunther and Bets have a fan base, but by reading the comments, it is clearly not us. I am looking forward to a new arc Monday but also to future arcs about Bets and Gunther.

Tiffany….take a hint!

Gunny, I hope you have health insurance for your head and your heart, buddy…you are in for a bumpy ride with this loon.

This arc ended too neatly; Bets needs therapy before she can truly love.

Bets looks pretty hot in the last frame. It would be nice to see a Sunday single frame shocker: A black dress with white spots and a purple shirt draped over a chair – with the sun rising in the window. Too bad if the “family comic” agenda precludes even a frame like this.

If this relationship works, we need a new Gunther venturing into adulthood. Maybe let the neat hair grow out – wear dark shades and a black T-shirt.

Tiffany needs to take her tinkly little chimes to the next Senate meeting…

At least they stopped the video. Now for a Sunday strip and to move on to ANYTHING ELSE.

This could be the beginning of a triangle. Pretty hot possibility if Greg has the guts.

To be fair, seeing Gunther kiss is a rare thing…

I just recently finished binge watching an old TV series, St. Elsewhere, on IMDb. The final episode showed that the entire series, all 8 or 9 seasons, was nothing more than the fantasy of an autistic boy.

So what if everything that happened from 6/21 was nothing more than a dream sequence of Gunthers or, more likely, a fantasy projection of Tiffanys? The last panel from the strip on 6/18 had Tiff saying: “Full of romance, she (Bets) accepts your love, sees that I was right all along, refuses the refund….”

And HEY! Lookie there! That is exactly what happened! Bets is all: “Tiff helped me see the light….my past is all forgotten……Forget about the refund Tiff (and by extension the apology)…..”

If this is the real ending, OK. Rather silly and anticlimactic to me, but whatever.

But if G&K did decide that it was just a fantasy sequence, then that would be a genius plot twist, not to mention incredibly funny.

The Pagoda of Peace worked, now butt out!

“Sure, I’ll be your doormat Bets! Or should I be your cabana boy? I can do both!”

All’s well that ends well. At least for the time being. Now, let’s see what other storyline is in the works…

So, Gunth goes home and leaves Bets and Tiff to sort out his future.

Find a safe spot, Tiffany. I think that these two are about to experience a Close Contact of the seventh kind, human version.

The suspension of belief is heavy. Just like that, Gunther forgets how he felt being ghosted for weeks. Just like that, Bets is now willing to commit to Gunther. Good luck, kiddos, you’re going to need it.

Next up, hopefully, the young woman for whom the strip is named gets an adult relationship????

Ah, the self-centered person can charm the birds right out of the trees. Especially if there’s a chance of losing the current victim. Then, the first time that person doesn’t get their way, the punishment is doubled. I don’t know if that’s what will happen here, but in real life (and I know, it’s just a comic) it would be a disaster over and over again. Time will tell!

And so we ride into the sunset, which is easy to do in southern California, waiting for a new arc to begin next week. Will it be TJ winning a prestigious food award and deciding to move out, stimulating once again Brad and Toni’s desire for their own house? Frank’s frugal approach to new footwear? Nancy’s not-secret admirer at the Fuse? Tara’s cousin escaping from jail? Bernice and Nil? Jack and Luann and Puddles at the dog park? Something with Shannon? Les takes Punk to the vet? Ox tries again with Tiff?

UGH…

Yeah, but is she going to get therapy for her control issues. And is Gunther going to keep that pair he grew, for like two seconds?
