This isnât quite the same, but in DE, we have the town of âHoustonâ, which is pronounced âHouse-tonâ, not âHu-stonâ, as it is in TX; and âNewarkâ, which is pronounced âNew-arkâ, not âNerkâ, as it is in NJ.
