I don’t know Gunther… If Bets’ income has dropped since you left, I suspect she’ll be looking to replace you, on her channel, or maybe even replace your all together.

If Bets was still interested in Gun wouldn’t she face time with him? I have a feeling Gun is kidding himself about the status of their relationship.

And the storyline that never ends, drags on

Gunther is so far down in denial that I think he’s in Zimbabwe. That said I don’t know why they brought him back from Peru since he has contributed little to the strip and as a momma’s boy with a passion for sewing is out in left field. Bets was / is an interesting character, one of the few with agency in this strip (Tara is the other but not in a good sort of way). If someone is to be written out of this strip it ought to be Gunther. Have him die of a rare tropical disease he picked up in Peru and bring back Bets. He will never be missed.

2nd fiddle doesn’t get the standing O.

Traveling in a van for three months is too much togetherness. Even married couples aren’t together 24 hours every day unless maybe they work together.

And yes, I predicted Thursday Bets will replace Gun to up her earnings.

When you “uncouple” cars on a train, something usually happens gets left behind.

Over the course of this conversation, he’s moving toward a more realistic idea of what happened. They did care about each other, but it couldn’t work, at least right now. An “uncoupled couple” is the same thing as a couple who broke up. He gets it.

Sure, right, Gunther…because you are desperate to believe it. And hey, Luann snarked and nobody in here blinked an eye.

Luann is clearly not buying it. And to be quite frank, neither am I. Someone needs to give ol Gunther a whack upside the dome and tell him straight up that it’s over and he needs to move on with his life. he’ll be a lot happier that way…

Unable to answer Luann’s question, Gunther diverts his attention to a sandwich.

A conversation which would have never happened had it not been for the intervention of Bernice.

They don’t really love each other. In fact, they don’t have any respect for one another either.

“He think’s they’re still in love?” and she left him off into some wild adventure? But yet he’s enjoying being apart? Hopes abound in his heart to go back to the way things were. But alas, the big tour bus called life, waits for no one and is constantly on the move.

Is this just some mundane drivel between two old friends that have moved on with their lives? OR, are GnK signaling a sea change in the firecracker hot relationship between Gunther and Bets? It certainly seems to be the latter.

Is this the fruition of Irma’s of Irma’s Road Trip plan to break up or, at the least, cool down their steamy-hot love life? Did Gun and Bets burnout on the trip? It certainly looks like it. Each of them is appearing to revert to their original, separate life positions. Gunther to his sober, studious life and Bets to her hot vlog, comicon life. Recall if you will that Bets was first attracted to Gunther by his Trekkie costume and Vulcan ears.

The BIG QUESTION is “How long will it take for us to get an answer?”

“I THINK we love each other” is not how you say it if you TRULY love each other. I think they both love/loved the idea of loving each other.

Time to move on.

Even if Gunther were not cruelly deceiving himself, this is not the foundation of a good relationship.

My guy and I have been dating for 23 years. We figured out early that we each need our own space. So we are LATs – Living Apart Together. Works for us.

Let’s see Bets makes an income producing NOTHING of value – just social media garbage. Gunther has the makings of a professional who can PRODUCE goods and services to help others. GUNTHER is the champ here. Money is not the goal in life, it should be the byproduct.

It does sound like Bets & Guns have parted ways & it’s just taking a while for it to sink in.Guns is really a home town boy.

Maybe she’ll find a new boyfriend and release Guns.

Bets might have a great strategy (and Gunther might be in on it) – but just imagine – when she broadcasts their “reuniting” it should make their fans go wild. I mean, it will be epic – like the solar eclipse – or maybe like a sale at the dollar store.

Gunther should just become another fan of her Internet persona. Move on.

I mean, it does work for some couples. Especially when it comes to hobbies. that being a part is helpful to relax and clear the mind.

They can’t live with each other and can’t live without each other. Well, except for that last part cause they aren’t together anymore.

When Bets meets a handsome cosplay guy one with e-celeb potential (and less mommy issues) and starts vlogging with him, Gunther will be like, “B-but we were an uncoupled couple! How could she do this to me?!”

Luann actually doing what Bernice tries to do. Listening, and, letting Gunther come to his own realization about his “relationship” with Bets. If Bernice is still “observing” she should be taking notes on how Luann is helping Gunther. That’s how a real counsellor would do it.

Gunther is realizing that he still has feelings for Bets, but also that he doesn’t really need her in his life to be happy. That does not bode well for Bets, in the long run.

I think him and LuAnn should give it a go, they’re good friends…

Hmmm…. Well, sometimes time apart is good for a couple, by helping them define their priorities. But he could just be in denial. Which is it? I guess we’ll find out when Bets finishes her latest convention circuit.

So Luann has a half a sandwich and a couple of fries left and Gunther has nearly everything still on his plate. Is that a significant notation for Bernice and her study?

So this is the only interaction where they got food. And one of the other participants is waiting on them. Still not sure what she thinks this will demonstrate.

Honestly, I agree with the skepticism Luann seems to have. I’ve strong doubts that what Gunther is doing has the sense he hopes, it sounds really weird! He seems to hope that Bets will fall in love at first sight again when she’ll sees him after months of not even writing to each other. I’m sorry for Gunther, but I’m afraid it’s unlikely. I wonder if Luann will tell him that or support his delusions. I hope for the former, but I also hope that she does it tactfully.

This is a good sign for Gunther, to be able to calmly talk with Luann about what happened with Bets and how he’s handling it. Remember a few weeks ago when Gunther came home in a taxi and he was visibly upset? Relationships are hard when you’re with someone 24/7, as many have commented today. Very wise and mature of Gunther to admit that “we love each other but don’t love always being together”.

If Gunther is smugly waiting for Bets to come crawling back to him, I think he’s in for a major disappointment. It sounds like he’s expecting her to fail as a media influencer, come running back to him, crying, admitting she was wrong, and begging him to get back together with her.

Sorry, but I don’t see that happening.

Gunthie will die alone of extreme old age in a monastery. His last words will be “Mama”.

Gunther has barely started his food and Luann is half done. I’ve never met a young man who ate slower than a female. My husband does every thing too slowly except for eating. He eats much faster than I do.

Fascinating.

Maybe the girl that fills the 4th spot in the college quad – will fall for Gunther. I’m ready to get that spot filled and move on from the Bets story.

I think Luann is better at psycho analysis than is Bernice.

Any week without Stef is a good week. And we’ve been without Bernice the last few days too!

The poor boy has been with two women now with agendas completely different than his own. Time to move on Gun. Next time, pay attention to the red flags earlier on.

Amid all this Bets drama, Luann is quietly doing her stealth counseling thing again. It’s been awhile, but here it is. If only she were as aware and reflective the other 99.5% of the time.

Zen romance

Gunther is so far in De Nile he’s current in the middle of Africa. Though that’s to be expected, since he can’t keep his story consistent from panel to panel about just how well Bets is doing without him. Is she getting a zillion fans and making bank, or is her revenue stream dropping significantly? Get your story straight, Gunther.

I think Luann is doing a good job today of listening and asking the right questions to give Gunther more clarity.

“I THINK we love each other, [but I just delight in the thought that without me, her revenue has slipped significantly and she’ll come crawling back to me]”.

“Happiness comes from unexpected places [as I gloat at her upcoming failure without ME]”.

(smiles smugly as he shoves a breadstick/gravy-covered french fry/sweet potato fry into his pie-hole)

Yeah, hold on here, hold on… you “love each other” but don’t love the same things, ok, that’s normal. But being happy when your “loved” one’s things are not going the way they wanted (and I’m referring to the previous strip, about her income decreasing)… no. Just no. That would be the same as Bets being all happy because Gunther was failing classes. That’s a nasty turn in his personality…

Maybe in another couple of months Bets will show back up in the strip, pregnant. Then there might be a real story line in this strip.

Rodney Dangerfield:

“My wife and I sleep separately, we eat separately, we take separate vacations. We’re doing everything we can to keep our marriage together!”

Maybe they should have coupled more…

I think Luann needs to butt out and Gunther needs to find his own way and move on from Bets.

Luann could help get Gun’s mind off of Bets by taking him skydiving. It’s still on, right? Or did it already happen?

Bets is not an end goal in and of itself; Gunther is working to complete his education and he cannot do that while on the road with her. Ironic, Bets is the one with abandonment issues…
