Is Iggy enjoying watching the storm, or is there something out there? An inquiring mind wants to know.
I like being inside and cozy and looking out the window at storms — but then I feel guilty thinking of the people and animals and trees outside and not safe.
I live in a part of California in which summer/electrical storms are not a thing.
Except for one year. In which we had over 1,000 lightning strikes overnight in my county. I was in the bathroom, on the floor, away from any windows and worrying about the animals outside. The booms were terrifying.
The next morning, my closest friend, from Colombia, said: Wasn’t that relaxing? It was just like home. So wonderful.
Like Iggy and Ora Zella, we can have markedly different responses to electrical storms!
My indoor cats seem unruffled by storms; what I worry about is the electronics. Yes, I do keep them on protective power strips, but I fret all the same.
I’ve had cats that hated thunder, some cats who ignored them, and some who would actually sit in the window (Like Iggy) and watch the lightning flashes. Not surprising that they did the same when it was firework season.
Funnily enough, thunderstorms don’t usually scare me, and in fact I rather enjoy them. But then I play Minecraft and suddenly hear a thundercrash in the game and it’s like a freaking jump scare.
I’m with Iggy. I ❤️ thunderstorms. They are very rare here in New Zealand. Back home in Texas they were a commonplace thing. I treasure them all the more now. :)
I put of the pictures of the baby squirrels, that I told everyone about, last week on my patreon site! Get a Dogs Life / Patreon . com type with no spaces.
Although this can be a “stand alone” strip, I am anxious to see if the storm or its after effects will be mentioned tomorrow. In other words, could the cause of the transmission glitches and glowing night sky also be responsible for the storm?
So much to love in this strip! First and foremost, the Queen reference!!! Puck calling Ora Zella “cherub”. Iggy’s delight in the storm (what a sweet li’l vampire boy!). The cozy cat and kid pile.
I guess Lupin must feel the vibrations of the thunder and they spook him somehow, because I remember from years ago he liked to watch the lightning show.
HAPPY 17th GOTCHA DAY —the very happiest of Gotcha Days to my precious Tucker Lovesponge! He has been the light of my life for all these years, and I have never once regretted bringing him home from that convenience store parking lot. Nobody could possibly ask for a better little furbaby!
Happy Sunday everyone. Only took me over an hour to ready every comic and comment from last Sunday. So tired of work life getting in the way of my comic reading. Hugs, Purrs, Power of the Paw to everyone.
Well, the heavy rains have driven ants into my house. I’ve put fresh ants baits out, and the ants ate going for them, but it is driving me crazy to see them on my kitchen counter and not kill them. I know I have to let them eat the baits so the nest will be killed, but still, the temptation to windex them is so strong. Yes, windex, or any window cleaner with ammonia. I’ve found that it kills them instantly, and doesn’t smell as bad as bug spray.
The Girl is not fond of thunderstorms. But she likes to watch the lightning, so it somewhat balances out. By contrast, The Woman does not like the lightning because she has a fear – one she acknowledges to be irrational – of her chair being a literal lightning rod.
Wonderful compendium of cat skills—Puck using his kitty Doppler radar to analyze the fear levels of nighttime storms, while Iggy is in the kitty zone, taking it all in and feeling the natural bliss. . . .

Well, Ig loves a stormy night
He loves a stormy night
Loves to hear the thunder
Watch the lightnin’ when it lights up the skies
You know it makes him feel good
Well, Ig loves a rainy night
It’s such a beautiful sight
He loves to see the rain on the pane
Trace the drops and the drips
In the flashing shadows
Flowers drink as their stems dance and sway
While boomin’ thunder rages away
And Ig loves a stormy night
Yeah, he loves a stormy night
Ooh, ooh

Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain
Telling me just what fool’s you have been
I wish that it would rain all day so I could perch here
It would be such a glorious day
The woman’s stuck in bed with the kids and cats
Huddling from the noise
But little do they know that all the nose the storm make
Is music to my kitty cat heart
Rain please tell me how you make things grow
And how your give the world a fresh new start
I love it when it rains and the sounds it makes
So fill my day with your lovely rain and from this window I won’t depart
And from this window I won’t depart
But little do they know that the rain is good
The thunder speaks to my heart
Rain won’t you tell them that you are so very good
At giving the world a fresh start
Rain in my heart and let the love we knew start to grow
Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain
Telling me just what fool’s you have been
I wish that it would rain all day so I could perch here
It would be such a glorious day
Oh, listen to the falling rain

Kara: I did. Now I’m ready for a good breakfast at Floofnet’s Culinary School.

Tash: Some things are best not kept secret.

Floofnet the Joyous: Welcome travelers! You’re just in time for breakfast. What brings you on a trip this way?
Bea: We’re going to Afar to meet with Beaver Lee Cleary to research the Portentous Wind.
Floof: Oh. Is a Thing about to happen?
Vi: That’s what we want to find out.
Floof: Well, when a Thing is about to happen it’s best to be prepared. Time to do a lot of baking.
