Hidden from Tom? Tiff, did Les tell you that Ann abandoned him when she married the husband after your dad? You gotta watch out for this baby if it is not an old one of Les. Ann might purposely get pregnant to ensure her future as Mrs Farrell and take away YOUR inheritance and give it to her baby AND ensure an alimony. Ummm…IF it is hidden, it means Tom doesn’t know…so, that begs the question whether the baby is Tom’s?? She could be already pregnant when she met Tom and is now trying to pass it as his to ensure an inheritance and an alimony. That would explain why she cut off credit cards from Tiff…she wants all money going to her baby and her.
Now what will she DO? Wonder if she will say, “Congratulations, Dad. I am excited to be a big sister” when dad gets back.
Could be from when she found out she was pregnant with les. yes the baby in the photo could be les. Ann could be using a fake pregnancy to force Tom into marrying her so she gets half of everything.
But Ann does not know Tom had the big V, and Tom is going to reveal that secret at the cabin, and discard Ann for good. (One can hope and dream this will happen.)
Ann did give Tiff a list of “chores” to do while she was house sitting. Chores like dust the master bedroom? Oops, there’s an envelope taped to the back of one of the pictures that just happens to fall off at the slightest movement. And, a picture that Tom would want to see right away, Okay, children, can we all spell C O N J O B?
Well Tiffany you have a sister, are you going to grow up, or behave like a spoiled child. If your wise you will pick up Ann’s clothes, ignore Ann and try to maintain a relationship with your father
Maybe Tiff will take this as the cue to redouble her focus on that Plan B that Tom always wanted her to have (see https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2015/02/11 ).
Meanwhile [I fantasize, but don’t go so far out on a limb as to predict], Tom “does the right thing” and marries Ann, but a couple months later, she miscarries. One morning during Ann’s convalescence, it’s Chef Justine’s day off and Tom, despite his limited culinary skills, decides to make her breakfast in bed. Wanting to look up a recipe, he finds that his phone has a dead battery, but he notices that Ann has just fallen asleep with her laptop open on her bedside table. He innocently steps over to it and begins to type “how to fry perfect eggs” into the browser. When he gets as far as “how to f”, he sees that the completions offered include “how to fake a pregnancy” and “how to fake a miscarriage”. …
1. Leave picture of someone else’s fetal ultrasound to where someone finds it.
2. Explain that the birth control method that they were using did not work.
3. Stupid Tom makes her his fiancée.
4. A wedding date is set.
5. Just before baby starts to show, have a convenient “miscarriage”, and Evil Annie can have her personal groinocologist sign off on a scam miscarriage for a fee.
6. Have Tom bring Evil Annie home from the Dr’s office because she is too weak from the “procedure”.
7. Idiot Tom feels even worse about what happened, and marries her anyway.
Wow. Tiff and Les are going to have a baby brother or sister. This is like one of those old soaps my mom used to watch; “Search for Tomorrow” or “Days of our Lives”. Do I hear wedding bells?
Maybe a miscarriage, which leaves Ann depressed and will get even more attention from Tiffany’s Dad. Ann could be really depressed, which would be understandable or could fake depression, considering her past.
Speaking as the middle child on my Dad’s side of the family…if you don’t get enough attention from Daddy now wait nine more months and really see how unwanted feels like.
There have been many instances in the last dozen years of coercion .. women buying “positive” tests in order to force the man to marry her.I hope, for his sake, that it’s such an attempt and he can shoot it down.
I feel Tiff’s pain. Now she realizes she’s been cast off from the family. Tom has a new wife to be and a new little one, while Tiff’s just yesterday’s news.
I thought this would happen. I’m still depressed by it. I need some sort of flag to avoid Ann strips in the future. Or just remove the strip from my feed and see if I miss it.
It’s not great to be finding things out like this. But like it or not, there’s another bun in the oven and another woman in dad’s heart. Tiff doesn’t have the luxury of growing up on her own time (she’s 18, at least). She needs to get that degree from Mooney…. on her dad’s purse, because it may be the last thing of value she gets from him, and while she’s at it, she should pick up those clothes from the yard and put them back where she found them.
HOORAY!!!!!Hem… you know… I really like this kind of huge revelation, especially if well planned in the story. Now I can’t wait to see how Tiffany (and Les) will react. Maybe Tiffany will faint? Surely, it’s better for her to sit down and take big breaths. I wonder if Tom will be happy with the news.
Well, this is a revolting development. I wonder why Ann would leave the sonogram behind for Tiffany to find, instead of bringing it with her to show Tom during their vacation. And I don’t see redemption for Tiffany after this.
Ann: Better a rejected con woman, than a prospective stepmother. But, on to the important stuff. I’m enjoying the close ups of Tiffany. She’s still young, she’s still sexy, she now has bigger curves, so she should dump that shapeless shirt and strip down to things more revealing.

Anne will use this photo—which might be hers from Les (as someone said) or any old photo from a sister or a friend—to put “loving” pressure on Tom to tie the knot. And, yeah, there’s no way a fetus developed that far wouldn’t be noticeable on a woman with Anne’s figure.
Something just feels “off” about this, making me think it’s a con job. She set Tiffany up to “find” this little gem. It’s too convenient. And I agree that ultrasound looks too developed for Ann not to be showing a little bit. Also, the implication here is this is a “surprise” for Tom? Is so, why hasn’t she told him yet? Is she saving it for “the cabin” ? That doesn’t make sense as she would have taken the photo with her to present it to him there. And if the surprise has already been revealed and that’s the reason for the smiling together photo, then why keep the ultrasound taped to the back of it? Why not put it on a frame? I smell a rat named Ann! Either way her intent is to hurt Tiffany.
This is going to be a turning point…is Ann telling the truth about being pregnant? Is Tiffany’s dad the baby daddy? How is this going to change the dynamic between Tiffany and her Dad? Will Ann make her Dad choose between her and Ann? Ann did say in a previous strip that this guy was her almost husband…so we will see
Bet Tom is already snipped. Didn’t tell Ann. Ann had invitro to con him. Tom is going to freak and dump her. He’ll then be profusely apologetic to Tiff.
I don’t think Ann is pregnant. I could be wrong (and probably am) but I don’t think so. Why would Ann choose this method to tell Tom she’s pregnant? Putting an ultrasound picture in an envelope, taping said envelope to the back of a picture that Tom may or may NEVER pick up hardly seem like the most efficient method. I mean, she could be giving birth before he ever sees that ultrasound pic. Unless he’s in the habit of picking up that framed photograph of himself and Ann to maybe admire himself (LOOK! LOOK! I DO HAVE A FACE! SEE? I HAVE PROOF!!) or maybe he has to do all the housekeeping now that Ann fired the staff, I think the odds are pretty long that he would ever pick up that framed picture.
I think this is just Ann playing mind games with Tiffany. She KNEW Tiff would go snooping, so she decided to mess with Tiff’s head a little. Again—I may be completely wrong.
So many thoughts. None of them pleasant. And, as of today, this comic strip is no longer pleasant.
And to think, yesterday, I was liking the turn of events.
Reminder to self: Yesterday was about Tiffany coming to grips with Tom’s attention turning away from her and toward a new life with Ann. It’s not like Tiffany ever was the center of Tom’s life, but if you’re into money, I suppose it wasn’t a bad life. That ship has sailed, and it’s time for Tiffany to move forward with her own life – without Tom or his money.
I thought that, along with a dose of perhaps both Tom and Ann going on hiatus for a while.
Well, that sure got dashed in a hurry.
But it sure does look like a “cliff-hanger” to me – as in, I’m expecting a cutaway to another arc next week.
For those into soap operas, this is the kind of hook that would keep you glued to this strip through perhaps months of Shannon just waiting for G&K to return to this line.
I call scam. She’s faking a pregnancy and after she’s gotten a quickly wedding, will “lose” the baby. Then milk Tom along for a few years, file for divorce and try to clean him out. Hopefully she gets exposed.
It could be a scam but I’ve always felt that Greg loves Ann as a character too much to get rid of her. Perhaps he feels hilarity would ensue if Tiffany gets saddled with her for a stepmother. The plot would then evolve into this dysfunctional family all trying to get along with each other. I dearly hope to be proven wrong with this prediction.
The whole arc of Ann Eiffel continuing subjugate and humiliate Tiffany Farrell has become predictable and painfully boring. The only surprises are when the story comes up with new ways to torture the Tiffany character and the inexorable descent of said character toward depression and despair.
Her character’s come a long way from Sheraton St. Louis. I don’t know who can say her character has done anything but been transformed as apposed to grown.
It will be a boy, and Ann will make very sure that he’s Tom’s only heir. Tiff should be working harder at her school work and watch her back because Ann’s coming with a figurative knife. Tiff’s invitation to the family home is a huge trap to destroy her. I’d put Ann’s clothes back, take time-dated pics of every room in the house, then leave only to return on the day they return, take time-dated pics of the rooms, then leave again.
Sorry Tiff. This will be the final nail in the coffin. Tough up kiddo, it’s time to move on from daddy’s money, which you will get none of. This strip has become as uplifting as Funky Winkerbean.
I’ve figured out a possible happy ending! Mr. Gray sues for custody, on the grounds that neither Ann nor Tom are fit parents. Since he will eventually wind up raising another of his sister’s unfortunate offspring anyway, he might as well cut to the chase before the damage is done.
So Les can give testimony against Ann (and open Tom’s eyes to what a viper he married) his father’s old buddies can testify how she just used Les to ruin Hardy Knox’s life. Tiffany can then testify to the ravages of Tom’s emotional neglect. Mrs. Phelps can testify to the damage done to these emotional orphans, both as Tiffany’s psychiatrist and Les’s school counselor.
Stabbed to the heart with guilt and shame (and secretly relieved to get out of his responsibilities—he is, after all, a child-neglecter)Tom doesn’t put up a fight. He also kicks Ann out of his life. Irma Gray gets a new baby to coo over and raise to be a goodhearted high-achiever like Gunther. Everybody wins except Ann, which is as it should be.
You have GOT to be kidding! If it’s her’s, guess she not too old to get pregnant. If it’s just for Tiff’s eyes and not true, it’s mean. Bring out the barf bags!
Pits-ville finally lives up to its name. Next week’s episode:
Announcer: As our story opens, we see the long-suffering, put-upon waif Merry Wurse (nee Tiffany Farrell) entering the Pittsville bus terminal. She shambles up to the ticket window and purchases a ticket with her meager funds for parts unknown. Ticket in hand she takes a seat in the departure area. Across from her is a dour looking, youngish man attired in dark colors. Next to her is a kindly looking older woman. The woman strikes up a conversation; let’s listen in:
KW: Where are you off to child?
MW: Hmmm? Oh, excuse me, I was just thinking. I’m not sure. The man said Reno, Nevada was as far as my money would take me.
KW: My. You sound so sad. Are you going to a funeral?
MW: Actually I’m leaving a funeral… of sorts. My father has married a woman carrying his child. She hates me and has made my life into a living hell. She has alienated me from my father and relegated me to a life of servitude in what was once my beautiful home.
KW: Oh, you poor dear.
Announcer: Merry dabs at her tears with a limp tissue. She continues:
MW: I’ve decided that my father’s happiness is of great importance but my life in the home has become too painful. So, I must leave. I’m hoping to start over under a new name somewhere I cannot be found. I’m hoping that new my life will match my new name Merry Wurse. The only real job I ever had was as a waitress. I may be able to find work there.
KW: That sounds so sad. What was life before this woman?
MW: Would you believe I was once slim and glamorous? I was an actress. My stage name was Sheraton St. Louis. I was the darling of my wealthy father’s eye. I had friends. Friends that I truly didn’t appreciate. Then Ann Eiffel came into my father’s life. Now look at me. Alone… and going to an uncertain future.
It is said that G&K thought to “spare” us of the pain of the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic (and the follow-on social and racial unrest after the deliberate murder of George Floyd).
If so, then why this?
What have we been “spared” of, if this is where this story is going?
Ann is evil not just because she hurts people but because she enjoys hurting people and is very vindictive. She hates Tiffany so what I expect is that Ann is pregnant and has plans to turn Tiffany into an unpaid nanny. That way not only does Ann get to treat Tiffany as a domestic servant it frees Ann from the responsibility of raising the child. Which, of course, allows Ann and Tom to continue to travel and play. Tom will be all for it since Tiffany is the big sister. Don’t forget that having a child with Tom gives Ann a 20 year free ride at the very least. If she plays it right it could be a free ride for life.
I bet he had a vasectomy and didn’t tell her. So, her fake sonogram will go up in flames. I am surprised the reveal of the envelope contents is on a Saturday and we didn’t have to wait until Mon.
In the past, Ann comes with a scheme, gets caught, leaves. Why should this be different? It takes forever to get there, but this is my guess for this arc also.
Well… So much for my drugs theory. Pity… Tiffany could have used them to send Ann to jail (where we’d never seen her again) and Tom to rehab (where his therapist would make him see how he’s been a terrible father to his daughter).
Tiff – step back and think a minute. That can’t be happening now because you just saw Ann a few days ago and she didn’t look pregnant then, at least not enough to carry a baby that big. Also – I am sure you would have noticed at least a few pregnancy clothes in the ones you tossed out the window.
Even if the picture is phony, one thing is for sure… Tom loves Ann, and wants her to stay in his life. And nothing Tiffany can say will change that. He’ll have to learn his lesson the hard way.
Tiffany needs to get out of there while she can. Once she tidies things up, she can start looking for a new place to stay. She needs to have her stuff out before they get back. If anything, once they arrive, she can just say goodbye to them and leave right then and there. The less contact she has with them, the better.
Then Tiffany can focus on her future. Even without a business degree, she can enroll in a beauty school and become a cosmetologist. TiffasNails can still become a reality. She’ll just have to take a different route.
My initial response was NOOOOOOOO! But…hang on a minute. To mix metaphors – there’s something rotten in Denmark, and I smell a rat. Definitely something fishy here. Why tape an ultrasound photo, in an envelope, to the back of a framed photograph?? If you are pregnant, wouldn’t you be sharing that with the father? And if you’re NOT pregnant, are you simply saving it to force a man to marry you? It would be great if Ann pulled that stunt, only to find out that Tom got snipped a long time ago. After all, Tiff IS his only child (that I know of). Now, is Tiff going to take this at face value? And if so, what is she going to DO with that information? ORRRRR…what if Tom is, and has been, totally sterile? What if Tiff isn’t his biological daughter at all? After all, we have no idea if they look alike or not, since we’ve never seen Tom’s face. Now, that would be a twist…
Oh, oh. I didn’t see this coming. Ann has to be in her 40s. Is she really, and if not, is this a scam to get Tom to marry her? Come to think of it, either way it would be a scam to get him to marry her.
I saw the black and white version in my newspaper and the ultrasound picture line work really pops. This is one of those days when the color does not improve the comic strip.
Yesterday, I said the plot thickens; more like the plot ‘sickens’. (As for bringing another child into the world, I hope more good people at least take the risk. I don’t think we should give up on humanity just yet.)
Who is doing all the household jobs? Surely not Ann. l don’t see her sweeping, mopping and dusting. And what about that yard? I’m sure Tom doesn’t get on a riding mower. I wonder if the servants were not let go but quit in reaction to working for Ann? Does Ann even have a job any more? She must be in her early 40’s and getting pregnant at that age is very difficult by itself and extremely expensive if you need help. I wouldn’t put it past her to leave that ultrasound where Tiffany could find it. Maybe it was one from her son. After she moved all the furniture from Tiff’s room, you could expect some sort of blow up and Tiffany going into the master bedroom. She would have locked the door if she did not want Tiffany rummaging around in her room. So now where is Tiffany going to sleep? Teeny servants quarters in the attic?
Well, well, well. Let’s all leap to the conclusion that Ann Eiffel is pregnant with Tom Farrell’s child,
She might be. I’d even go so far as to guess that she probably is. But we don’t know that for sure yet just on the basis of an unidentified ultrasound. She could be playing a trick on her mealticket Tom….
I’m a little curious…why was the ultrasound taped to the back of a photo frame? Why would Ann – or ANYBODY – think that someone (esp a guy) would just casually pick up a picture and look behind it? Why was it hidden there?
On Monday … we see Tiffany looking at the back side of ultrasound picture. The date on it is the year she was born. Now she will know that she is the baby. Tiffany takes off the back of Tom & Ann’s picture and finds a picture of her pregnant mom. Hope we get to see what her mom looks like.
An open envelope? ( not a secret) Ann knows that Tiffany would rummage through her personal belongings and left a ruse for Tiffany that would blow her mind. You wonder why Ann was persistent with the maid uniform.
Enough. This used to be a light hearted comic about a young woman named Luann.
Somehow, it has morphed into a grisly comic novel focused on the torment a secondary character named Tiffany is undergoing as her life collapses around her.
It is as if the writers of this “comic” are trying to see just how much emotional abuse the readers of the strip are willing to see heaped upon Tiffany before we crack.
Who knows if the writers will ever let up the pressure on Tiffany. But if they do, you can be sure they will expect the readers to promptly forget all the misery they put this young character through.
I for one am having second thoughts about following a comic apparently penned and drawn by sadists.
Sooo many implications…Tiff having a younger sibling. Her and Les becoming step siblings. Tiff and Les treated like…the proverbial stepchildren. I STILL don’t like the idea of laundering Ann’s poopy personality. Then again, it could be faked. Ann has a way of having backup plans. If Tom started to get wise she could distract him with a potential baby. She’s that level of conniving.

Meanwhile [I fantasize, but don’t go so far out on a limb as to predict], Tom “does the right thing” and marries Ann, but a couple months later, she miscarries. One morning during Ann’s convalescence, it’s Chef Justine’s day off and Tom, despite his limited culinary skills, decides to make her breakfast in bed. Wanting to look up a recipe, he finds that his phone has a dead battery, but he notices that Ann has just fallen asleep with her laptop open on her bedside table. He innocently steps over to it and begins to type “how to fry perfect eggs” into the browser. When he gets as far as “how to f”, he sees that the completions offered include “how to fake a pregnancy” and “how to fake a miscarriage”. …

How to change the “Almost fiancée” to fiancée:
1. Leave picture of someone else’s fetal ultrasound to where someone finds it.
2. Explain that the birth control method that they were using did not work.
3. Stupid Tom makes her his fiancée.
4. A wedding date is set.
5. Just before baby starts to show, have a convenient “miscarriage”, and Evil Annie can have her personal groinocologist sign off on a scam miscarriage for a fee.
6. Have Tom bring Evil Annie home from the Dr’s office because she is too weak from the “procedure”.
7. Idiot Tom feels even worse about what happened, and marries her anyway.

It’s not great to be finding things out like this. But like it or not, there’s another bun in the oven and another woman in dad’s heart. Tiff doesn’t have the luxury of growing up on her own time (she’s 18, at least). She needs to get that degree from Mooney…. on her dad’s purse, because it may be the last thing of value she gets from him, and while she’s at it, she should pick up those clothes from the yard and put them back where she found them.

Something just feels “off” about this, making me think it’s a con job. She set Tiffany up to “find” this little gem. It’s too convenient. And I agree that ultrasound looks too developed for Ann not to be showing a little bit. Also, the implication here is this is a “surprise” for Tom? Is so, why hasn’t she told him yet? Is she saving it for “the cabin” ? That doesn’t make sense as she would have taken the photo with her to present it to him there. And if the surprise has already been revealed and that’s the reason for the smiling together photo, then why keep the ultrasound taped to the back of it? Why not put it on a frame? I smell a rat named Ann! Either way her intent is to hurt Tiffany.

I don’t think Ann is pregnant. I could be wrong (and probably am) but I don’t think so. Why would Ann choose this method to tell Tom she’s pregnant? Putting an ultrasound picture in an envelope, taping said envelope to the back of a picture that Tom may or may NEVER pick up hardly seem like the most efficient method. I mean, she could be giving birth before he ever sees that ultrasound pic. Unless he’s in the habit of picking up that framed photograph of himself and Ann to maybe admire himself (LOOK! LOOK! I DO HAVE A FACE! SEE? I HAVE PROOF!!) or maybe he has to do all the housekeeping now that Ann fired the staff, I think the odds are pretty long that he would ever pick up that framed picture.
I think this is just Ann playing mind games with Tiffany. She KNEW Tiff would go snooping, so she decided to mess with Tiff’s head a little. Again—I may be completely wrong.

So many thoughts. None of them pleasant. And, as of today, this comic strip is no longer pleasant.
And to think, yesterday, I was liking the turn of events.
Reminder to self: Yesterday was about Tiffany coming to grips with Tom’s attention turning away from her and toward a new life with Ann. It’s not like Tiffany ever was the center of Tom’s life, but if you’re into money, I suppose it wasn’t a bad life. That ship has sailed, and it’s time for Tiffany to move forward with her own life – without Tom or his money.
I thought that, along with a dose of perhaps both Tom and Ann going on hiatus for a while.
Well, that sure got dashed in a hurry.
But it sure does look like a “cliff-hanger” to me – as in, I’m expecting a cutaway to another arc next week.
For those into soap operas, this is the kind of hook that would keep you glued to this strip through perhaps months of Shannon just waiting for G&K to return to this line.

I call scam. She’s faking a pregnancy and after she’s gotten a quickly wedding, will “lose” the baby. Then milk Tom along for a few years, file for divorce and try to clean him out. Hopefully she gets exposed.

It could be a scam but I’ve always felt that Greg loves Ann as a character too much to get rid of her. Perhaps he feels hilarity would ensue if Tiffany gets saddled with her for a stepmother. The plot would then evolve into this dysfunctional family all trying to get along with each other. I dearly hope to be proven wrong with this prediction.

The whole arc of Ann Eiffel continuing subjugate and humiliate Tiffany Farrell has become predictable and painfully boring. The only surprises are when the story comes up with new ways to torture the Tiffany character and the inexorable descent of said character toward depression and despair.
Her character’s come a long way from Sheraton St. Louis. I don’t know who can say her character has done anything but been transformed as apposed to grown.

It will be a boy, and Ann will make very sure that he’s Tom’s only heir. Tiff should be working harder at her school work and watch her back because Ann’s coming with a figurative knife. Tiff’s invitation to the family home is a huge trap to destroy her. I’d put Ann’s clothes back, take time-dated pics of every room in the house, then leave only to return on the day they return, take time-dated pics of the rooms, then leave again.

I’ve figured out a possible happy ending! Mr. Gray sues for custody, on the grounds that neither Ann nor Tom are fit parents. Since he will eventually wind up raising another of his sister’s unfortunate offspring anyway, he might as well cut to the chase before the damage is done.
So Les can give testimony against Ann (and open Tom’s eyes to what a viper he married) his father’s old buddies can testify how she just used Les to ruin Hardy Knox’s life. Tiffany can then testify to the ravages of Tom’s emotional neglect. Mrs. Phelps can testify to the damage done to these emotional orphans, both as Tiffany’s psychiatrist and Les’s school counselor.Stabbed to the heart with guilt and shame (and secretly relieved to get out of his responsibilities—he is, after all, a child-neglecter)Tom doesn’t put up a fight. He also kicks Ann out of his life. Irma Gray gets a new baby to coo over and raise to be a goodhearted high-achiever like Gunther. Everybody wins except Ann, which is as it should be.
Not that it’s going to happen, but one can dream.

Announcer: As our story opens, we see the long-suffering, put-upon waif Merry Wurse (nee Tiffany Farrell) entering the Pittsville bus terminal. She shambles up to the ticket window and purchases a ticket with her meager funds for parts unknown. Ticket in hand she takes a seat in the departure area. Across from her is a dour looking, youngish man attired in dark colors. Next to her is a kindly looking older woman. The woman strikes up a conversation; let’s listen in:
KW: Where are you off to child?
MW: Hmmm? Oh, excuse me, I was just thinking. I’m not sure. The man said Reno, Nevada was as far as my money would take me.
KW: My. You sound so sad. Are you going to a funeral?
MW: Actually I’m leaving a funeral… of sorts. My father has married a woman carrying his child. She hates me and has made my life into a living hell. She has alienated me from my father and relegated me to a life of servitude in what was once my beautiful home.
KW: Oh, you poor dear.
Announcer: Merry dabs at her tears with a limp tissue. She continues:
MW: I’ve decided that my father’s happiness is of great importance but my life in the home has become too painful. So, I must leave. I’m hoping to start over under a new name somewhere I cannot be found. I’m hoping that new my life will match my new name Merry Wurse. The only real job I ever had was as a waitress. I may be able to find work there.
KW: That sounds so sad. What was life before this woman?
MW: Would you believe I was once slim and glamorous? I was an actress. My stage name was Sheraton St. Louis. I was the darling of my wealthy father’s eye. I had friends. Friends that I truly didn’t appreciate. Then Ann Eiffel came into my father’s life. Now look at me. Alone… and going to an uncertain future.

Ann is evil not just because she hurts people but because she enjoys hurting people and is very vindictive. She hates Tiffany so what I expect is that Ann is pregnant and has plans to turn Tiffany into an unpaid nanny. That way not only does Ann get to treat Tiffany as a domestic servant it frees Ann from the responsibility of raising the child. Which, of course, allows Ann and Tom to continue to travel and play. Tom will be all for it since Tiffany is the big sister. Don’t forget that having a child with Tom gives Ann a 20 year free ride at the very least. If she plays it right it could be a free ride for life.

Even if the picture is phony, one thing is for sure… Tom loves Ann, and wants her to stay in his life. And nothing Tiffany can say will change that. He’ll have to learn his lesson the hard way.
Tiffany needs to get out of there while she can. Once she tidies things up, she can start looking for a new place to stay. She needs to have her stuff out before they get back. If anything, once they arrive, she can just say goodbye to them and leave right then and there. The less contact she has with them, the better.
Then Tiffany can focus on her future. Even without a business degree, she can enroll in a beauty school and become a cosmetologist. TiffasNails can still become a reality. She’ll just have to take a different route.

My initial response was NOOOOOOOO! But…hang on a minute. To mix metaphors – there’s something rotten in Denmark, and I smell a rat. Definitely something fishy here. Why tape an ultrasound photo, in an envelope, to the back of a framed photograph?? If you are pregnant, wouldn’t you be sharing that with the father? And if you’re NOT pregnant, are you simply saving it to force a man to marry you? It would be great if Ann pulled that stunt, only to find out that Tom got snipped a long time ago. After all, Tiff IS his only child (that I know of). Now, is Tiff going to take this at face value? And if so, what is she going to DO with that information? ORRRRR…what if Tom is, and has been, totally sterile? What if Tiff isn’t his biological daughter at all? After all, we have no idea if they look alike or not, since we’ve never seen Tom’s face. Now, that would be a twist…

Who is doing all the household jobs? Surely not Ann. l don’t see her sweeping, mopping and dusting. And what about that yard? I’m sure Tom doesn’t get on a riding mower. I wonder if the servants were not let go but quit in reaction to working for Ann? Does Ann even have a job any more? She must be in her early 40’s and getting pregnant at that age is very difficult by itself and extremely expensive if you need help. I wouldn’t put it past her to leave that ultrasound where Tiffany could find it. Maybe it was one from her son. After she moved all the furniture from Tiff’s room, you could expect some sort of blow up and Tiffany going into the master bedroom. She would have locked the door if she did not want Tiffany rummaging around in her room. So now where is Tiffany going to sleep? Teeny servants quarters in the attic?

On Monday … we see Tiffany looking at the back side of ultrasound picture. The date on it is the year she was born. Now she will know that she is the baby. Tiffany takes off the back of Tom & Ann’s picture and finds a picture of her pregnant mom. Hope we get to see what her mom looks like.

An open envelope? ( not a secret) Ann knows that Tiffany would rummage through her personal belongings and left a ruse for Tiffany that would blow her mind. You wonder why Ann was persistent with the maid uniform.

Enough. This used to be a light hearted comic about a young woman named Luann.
Somehow, it has morphed into a grisly comic novel focused on the torment a secondary character named Tiffany is undergoing as her life collapses around her.
It is as if the writers of this “comic” are trying to see just how much emotional abuse the readers of the strip are willing to see heaped upon Tiffany before we crack.
Who knows if the writers will ever let up the pressure on Tiffany. But if they do, you can be sure they will expect the readers to promptly forget all the misery they put this young character through.
I for one am having second thoughts about following a comic apparently penned and drawn by sadists.

Sooo many implications…Tiff having a younger sibling. Her and Les becoming step siblings. Tiff and Les treated like…the proverbial stepchildren. I STILL don’t like the idea of laundering Ann’s poopy personality. Then again, it could be faked. Ann has a way of having backup plans. If Tom started to get wise she could distract him with a potential baby. She’s that level of conniving.

This strip would be so much more interesting if Tiffany were pregnant.
