Bets is more than Gunther’s Girlfriend. I look forward to seeing the new Bets and what exciting interests she replaces her social media account with.

Only in the final frame does Stef appear to be truly empathetic! Can’t wait for Bets to develop her own identity, maybe in a business class

My brain hurts from reading this week’s strips. Why did Bets scream her head off for Stef, chase her across town to the dorm, drag her out of bed to say what? That she’s Gunther’s girlfriend? Something that Stef cares not one whit about. More to the point Bets has not talked with Gunther once since returning. She has talked at him, she has talked around him. The words she’s throwing at Stef are words that she should be saying to Gunther. So why isn’t she?

Or simply a reminder to Bets of what she is really about here?

Kip’s squeeze; that’s pretty accurate. Nothing more than that. Stef is honest (again) about that.

“I’m Gunther’s girl friend.”I hope that does not mean that’s all she means to be. Being firmly attached, loving and supporting, and all the rest, is fit and proper, but there are other things in life.

Gunther Berger’s GIRLFRIEND?

Hard to understand what’s going on with this character…“I’m Gunther’s girlfriend”? That’s not much of an identity, especially when their relationship was in doubt and still needs work (that she’s avoiding doing). Has she given up on her college business studies? She’s gained social-media skills; why can’t she put them to use on a less personal project? It feels as if she’s having a breakdown, which is a little too serious for a comic strip.

Her whole brand was being Gunther’s girlfriend to begin with. It’s in the name. What social media account did she have before she met him?

Just Gunther’s girlfriend, yuck. Work on yourself.

Uhh, Stef? Your “identity” aint all that either. A cheerleader, “Miss Yams” and Kips squeeze? Is that all she defines herself as?

He’s not a manly man…we know, BUT he can sew so there’s that.

Or we back in Junior high with these two.

I’m looking forward to Bets being broke now that she cut off her social media moneymaker. Boyfriends are great, but they don’t pay the rent. Gunther, especially, is not gonna be paying Bets rent anytime soon.

All’s well that ends well! … I suppose.

Stef, in six years, what will you be? You will be a former cheerleader, a former Miss Yam, and you probably won’t be Kip’s main squeeze. Bets has business experience, and she will continue to be successful. Maybe she will have some setbacks along the way, but she is and will continue to be a business woman. Besides being Gunther’s girlfriend, a business woman is her identity.

Poor Stef, just can’t connect with reality.

Stef just did a boyfriend comparison; a classic queen bee shaming tactic. Bets is realizing that she has to be a better girlfriend, now that being Gunther’s mate has become her sole identity. There’s still plenty of thin ice around.

I think Bets loves Gunther. Now Stef, on the other hand is using Kip!

Stef is incredibly annoying, a real nuisance. She says things without any delicacy and thinks she’s better than everyone. For Stef it’s clear that Bets will end up regretting her choice, she also thinks that Gunther (unlike her fantastic, athletic Kip) is a worthless loser. I really hope that time will prove her wrong and Bets and Gunther will continue to be together and be happy. Now it’s time for Bets to return to her room, even if the possibility that Stef and Kip have used Bets’ bed for themselves is very high and there will be a need for a general cleaning.

Barf. What an awful message. Remember girls, if all else fails, you can still be someone’s girlfriend. Because as long as you have a man to attach yourself to, you don’t have your own identity. Seriously, if this is what the Evans’ think a girls identity should be tied to in 2023, then retire please.

Bets has learned that it doesn’t matter what all strangers and indecisive jerks think of you, it’s what you think of yourself that matters.

G&K are still sidestepping the real issues between Bets and Stef, along with the reality of the wrongful harm that Stef committed this night. Issues that do need to be addressed between Bets’ and Gunther’s issues cannot be addressed while Bets is with Stef and being sidetracked from addressing Stef’s wrongdoing. Maybe next week B&G will have that talk they promised each other just before Bets stormed out to deal with Stef.

Ummm, Halloween was WEEKS ago, look at the calendar.

The New and Improved Bets?

I dunno. While I’m glad that (maybe) Bets has kicked the social media habit, I’d have ask: WHERE is Bets going channel all that excess energy?

Her studies? That would be a good thing, although boring for the Strip.

Sideline Business Ventures? Probably. I can see Her and Tiff teaming up with something hair-brained that might actually work.

Unfortunately, I fear that Bets may drop back to one of her other glaring quirks that manifested itself the first time We met her: Jealously. Here’s hoping that all of T.A. Gunny’s “clients” will be dumb male jocks and not aggressive voluptuous babes.

At any rate, the good news is, next time Irma SNUBS the New and Improved Bets at Thanksgiving dinner?

lets see stef in 10 years when miss rah rah is 30 , i dont think rah rah is gonna pay the bills and most likely kip will have kicked her to the curb by then. As for Bets, if she truly wants to have a life where her partner takes precedence over her social media prescence ,then she needs to learn how to balance things and not be selfish or demanding. i still dont think that she is mature enough for relationship nor do I think Gunther is as his creepy mom still hasnt cut the apron strings nor has he stood up to her and moved into his own place. cant be a 12 yo boy forever Gunther

Not for nothing, but if she HAD a popular social media account, she was bringing in lot’s of revenue from ads and such. She just cut all that off.

These two are so one-note. Stef is just a vapid mean-Tiffany replacement and Bets is explicitly confirming, “now that all the contentious elements are exorcised from me like a swarm of demons, I exist simply to be Gunther’s Girlfriend.” Yeah, Bets, we know. And it’s not exactly better, just a different type of bad cause being “the girlfriend” is of limited appeal in terms of reading about you. As bad as Bernice can be, at least you can say she’s got other roles to play outside of “Luann’s friend.” It’s why Rosa and Quill eventually faded out of existence (Aaron Hill too) cause they only really had one purpose.

For a start, Bets. You’re in the process of making yourself much more than that.

Stef: You post stuff all the time. Bets: Used to.

Bets has suddenly had an “epiphany” (we have yet to see how long it will last) and is now ready and willing to vilify anyone who exhibits the same behavior she “used to.” Of course, she COULD make an effort to share her enlightenment in a kind and constructive way with others, but that would never occur to her.

Stef neglected to mention that she’s also Airhead Extraordinaire.

This is an outcome I hadn’t expected. Betts and Stef as almost friends. Perhaps this is a Thanksgiving gift.

Happy Thanksgiving. Contrary to what I think is a major responsive narrative, Bets was not being drawn as really likely to knock Steph’s block off. How many remember that to settle a roommate issue between, I believe Tiffany and Steph, Bets volunteered to room with Steph during the upcoming semester? So many hate Bets whenever she tries to do something good, which she does all the time, if one honestly looks at strip history, should see. I think this is basically over with another hilarious twist by Saturday, and Monday we should see a return to one of the several pending stories, or maybe the Count will lose his mind because Ann Eiffel will show up. Who knows?

Happy Indigenous People’s Day! I was disappointed in Bet’s response. Her lack of self-esteem is starting to show up again. She’s SO much more than that. And, Steph’s condescending look? Give me a break!

She’s succeeding in getting Bets off the topic. This is what people like Stef do, they never take responsibility, they dodge and evade. I want to see Bets get back on topic and nail her to the door.

Bets had tens of thousands of followers (at least) before she ever met Gunther. This makes no sense.

The difference is Bets has never ever posted anything malicious or untrue. Stef WANTED to hurt Bets.

That’s a Part of her, but she seems to be many things and I would guess a lot less shallow than Steph. If only because I can’t imagine Gunther would be nearly as interested in her if she wasn’t!

Changing the subject a bit, but I think (despite the goofy sleep shades) Stef looks a lot better without the bow in her hair. Maybe it’s hinting more maturity, or something along that line. Or it could be that she just doesn’t wear the hair bow to bed.

Ok Stef you’re a cheerleader, not many of those in the world. Miss Yam for a year and then what? Kip who’s the ‘star’ quarterback in what a D3 school. Not really that big of identity.

Oh, yay, her identity is that she’s attached to a guy. Very fulfilling. Who was she before she met Gunther and before she started the stupid blog? Wasn’t she a person then? What about her nerdy interests? Doesn’t that count?

sigh ** Back to making characters one-dimensional? I understand that Stef is written as a foil, ironically similar to how Tiffany was used back in the High School days as a foil to Luann. But Bets is supposed to have developed more as a person. Bets ALREADY had a moment of decision regarding Gunther and commitment, long ago, and while it may make sense for Bets to have doubts and have to recommit, it’s wrong in my opinion to demote her to an accessory for Gunther.
