Live band and Dancing!! For a Bloody Good Time come to The Fuse!! =)

I wonder what band TJ knows?

It’s nice that they’re all enthusiastic and have ideas to make it fun. Phil needs to stay out of it, since he’s meeting Luann’s friends and mother for the first time. He can’t control everything.

You know, I thought one week to run this story about a blood drive at the Fuse was kind of constrained. Judging from today’s strip it would appear that St. Patrick’s Day will have come and gone before this crew gets anything organized.

Blood doesn’t need a brand.

“Transfuse at the Fuse” is rather catchy, but as another commenter brought up with this running past St Patrick’s Day, they may need to dialyze all the donations to get the BAC levels down to acceptable levels.

Aaaaand the too-many-cooks all jump in to contribute! Good luck keeping the event on track, Phil. Now do you understand why Luann has so much trouble focusing?

Saint Patrick led the snakes out of Ireland, and Phil could draw blood from a turnip!

All they want is a good time and they don’t care about the blood drive. Poor Phil.

If there is a cover charge at the Fuse, you could wave it if the particpant gives blood.

I actually like the ‘Transfuse at The Fuse’ label. It catches your attention. The cookies are a great idea, too. The band and dancing, not so much.

A blood donor gets cookies and juice afterwards, anyway. Gotta bring that blood-sugar level back up, y’know.

So is this going to be a blood drive or a mosh?

Phil is a dead ringer for (Where’s ) Waldo. I guess everyone really does have a doppelganger.

Looks like Luann and Phil picked the Wrong place for the blood drive.

I suspect Brad and Toni’s fire department would have been a better venue, although the fire chef probably wouldn’t have allowed it. ;-)

Before I see my primary healthcare provider at the Tulsa, OK Ernest Childers VA Outpatient Clinic, I have to go to the Lab first. Last month, I told the lady who took my blood samples, "I donated blood twice in my younger days. But, I could not give a full pint either time. But, now the blood comes out just fine. If the person is new to me, I tell them exactly where to stick the needle.

Auugh!

Phil is right. A blood drive does not need a brand nor a band.

I’m all for donating blood, but they won’t let me. When I lost my job in 2009, I tried to sell some plasma like I had done 25 years before, the last time I was out of work.

Because I had a tiny skin cancer removed in the intervening years, they said I was permanently ineligible, despite (1) no recurrence after the initial pinhead mole, and (2) you can’t transmit cancer by a transfusion.

Worst part was instead of telling me that straight out, they made me get a blood workup on my own dollar before sending me away.

Nancy has an excellent point. It’s one thing for people to contribute a pint of their blood. It’s quite another to obtain financial contributions to pay for entertainment, unless the entertainers are willing to contribute their efforts gratis also. Organizations that actually collect the blood are usually publicly funded, meaning from taxpayer dollars, which is how they can supply the equipment and manpower, including juice and cookies to replenish blood sugar. Any other food supplied gratis would have to be declared as a tax write-off by The Fuse. In any case, all these elements would need to be recorded, in order to meet IRS accounting standards for tax deductibility.

well he may as well learn now that Luann came by her chaos organically and not due to some kind of traumatic event. Will Phill survive the year…..who knows?

Looks like Luann’s first idea of ​​throwing a big blood drive event will be the one that gets done, even though meeting Phil made her decide to do something simpler. Get a free drink when you donate. Fun fact, it takes less alcohol to get drunk after you donate because your ratio of blood/alcohol goes up.

How big is the dinning room; it can’t be too big if they only need 1 or 2 servers and one cook. Do they even have a parking lot for the bloodmobile?

I’ll skip making a political comparision here and just state this is heading into chaos. The question is, will Phil beable to help LuAnn pull it all back on track?

Leave to Tiffany to turn a simple community blood drive into an EVENT.

Phil’s getting a good look at what it’s like in Luann’s universe. Not sure how well his “keep it simple” mentality is going to fit in with all the chaos.

Ox is the only one with a sensible idea. They give you cookies after giving blood, and mentioning the free cookies in the ad is a good idea.

The band TJ knows of is probably a Milli-Vanilli tribute band….

Idea people? I’d like you to meet the money people.

I remember the first time I gave blood. Was trying to emulate my Dad, who was a major donor. After the needle was in for about 30 seconds I turned “whiter than white”. The Red Cross said “Don’t call us. We’ll call you.”

There was a time when Luann wanted to make it into a kids carnival but now Phil has her on the ‘simple’ track.

Maybe they should think about hiring somebody qualified to stick a needle in people’s arms.

We had them where I worked on the clock, free drinks and snack.

Forget the Luann/Phil relationship. It is doomed.

How about The Cramps. I hear they’re bloody good.

Why are they all here anyway? Just tell them when to show up.

Sorry, Phil, you’re running with the big dogs now. Back to the bedpans.

Perhaps the Kafe Kablooie staff should get back to work and let the adults worry about this.

Put your hand down Tiffany, this isn’t a high school classroom.

You can’t serve homemade cookies at a public blood drive, maybe a neighborhood pot luck, but not this. The collection entity that comes on-site will be responsible for adhering to necessary guidelines. My question is – Why is Nancy meeting with these bimbos about the blood drive? Seems like she and Luann should be contacting the hospital blood bank or a Red Cross representative. A cute Red Cross representative that shows up to advise, and sweeps Phil off his feet. Now that would be great!

Nothing like turning something free into a deficit

Thank goodness Phil didn’t suggest the K.I.S.S. method to Tiffany. ROFL! I love how all their personalities just overflowed at the same time. I would have loved to hear what Ox would have had to say.

Well, this was predictable wasn’t it ? ;-)

The kind volunteers who watched my three year old twins and gave them sandwiches provided all the entertainment I needed; t’was like a short spa session! (And to those who think I was horrible, forcing them to do that, I’d wandered in, asking how late they’d be there, so I could get a babysitter, and they offered to watch them then and there. Now, at 42 and 42, I can’t find a babysitter for them anymore…but that’s their wives and kids’ job…)

Ahhhh, the “bus stop” discussion:

Board of directors discusses and approves a multi-million dollar expansion in 5 minutes then spends an hour with no decision discussing whether to put a $100 shelter around the bus stop in front of the facility.

I know the feeling Luann, never have a chance to speak. "Blood drive and a spaghetti dinner at The Fuse. Food and dancing you can’t ‘refuse’…..lol.

I got a T-shirt, and a Mets bobble head, for donating outside a preseason game in Florida.

I like transfuse at the fuse. Everything these days seems about creating excitement. And this would do it.

Phil seems like a control freak and the girls are caving. And am impressed that Luann is holding down her girlish fliberdigibet.

Maybe just Luann and Phil should organize the blood drive. No one else deems to be able to focus.

Phil and Luann, just plan the blood drive. Advertise and get the Red Cross to come and take the blood. No bands, no music, just donate.

I’ve given blood and platelets for decades. A band is okay, but you don’t want any dancing involved when you’ve opened a vein.

One of the techs streamed music on his phone at one of my hospitals’ blood drives. When a donor came in wearing a Rascal Flats t-shirt, he played them while she was there.

Ah, yes, the team makes the dream! But this team seems to be running off into a different dream!

It’s a blood drive, not the Met Gala.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

It’s Luann’s parents’ place. She should get it organized with just them, and then they inform THEIR EMPLOYEES as to what’s going to happen. Simple. Done.
