Years ago my wife and I attended a “dinner and a show” at a local dinner theater. The show was “Grease” and the performers were also our wait staff. It was fabulous! Unfortunately there don’t seem to be any dinner theaters in our area any longer. Just another thing we miss from the “good old days”. :-(
Time moves slower in the comics. By showing the kittens, then referring to The Archives, I think that signals a flash forward for today’s strip. But I also think that the comic’s Forward aligns with Georgia’s Now.
This is the strip Georgia mentioned in her ghost talk in Snoqualmie! It is a glimpse into the future. She said Ora Zella was not going to become a reporter And yes, the Boy has long hair. He is incredibly handsome, maybe even beautiful.
Puck looks so distinguished with his white stache. Even Elvis’ face is showing signs of lightening up, too. I love how the boys have aged in this strip. Very handsome! Iggy and Bea are so professional and Ora Zella … well, I’m definitely sensing a Miss Piggy vibe from her as she vamps around in that very stylish dress.
Finally mailed the last of them Saturday. Depending on where you live in the US, yours should show up before Thanksgiving. Canadians, it depends on the labour situation with Canada Post. Thanks for your patience.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: By the power vested in me as Queen, I declare The Week of Gratitude open.
All: Hear! Hear!
Beatrixia: I have located a number of scrolls in the Pretty Good Library about Gratitude stories lost in futurity.
Puckmosis: Can you give us some examples?
Bea: Sure. There is one where the descendants of the Royal Procurers pull off a great pie heist. Unfortunately, they had tummy trouble the rest of the day until Lupinium’s descendant brought them a bottle of Pink Pep.
Iggy: I have heard stories of a great tree that many of our descendants enjoy climbing in.
Thomios: And I understand my kibble pie recipe has passed down through the generations.
Queen Cat: It seems we all have stories of gratitude.
The boy? Now waitsaminute. That look like the girl. With thems long dark hairs and all. And the boy was has blonde hair too me theenks. Not tells me this some impostor humanoid alien robot from outer space who as smart as steenky so called AI.
Ok I figured it out before resorting to comments. This is the future. The news crew is older, the kittens are cats, and the Boy and the Girl are grown up. The Boy looks just like his dad the Man, with long hair and a familiar plaid shirt.
It’s a beautiful strip, even though it reminds me of my own mortality and that of our beloved pets. And if Imp and Smudge don’t stop tap dancing on my laptop, I may scream!
Kitty Update! Frenchie (the Shy) jumped on our bed last night! Didn’t stay too long, but that was HUGE! Hyphen joined Jim in his recliner this morning. Smudgie is wondering when this sleepover is ending :).
Love this, but seeing Puck and Elvis old just tore my heart up. I hate when they get to the age that you are reminded how short the time left you have with them is, every time you look at them.
Oh, this is WONDERFUL – thanks so much for this little peek into the ‘crystal ball.’ I love how Elvis is still ELVIS … just a touch crankier and needs to wear glasses full-time now. And Ora Zella and The Girl are still absolutely over the top, too.
Iggy looks pretty cool in his suite, Pucky with his mustache, Elvis demanding “a tiny spoonful”, OZ in her dress. Everyone is just too cute dress up to the 9’s!
It was probably said at the time but I don’t have time to go looking for it. Georgia did the Jumble one day last week. I’m a few days behind looking at newspapers that run it.
Georgia said: “The Boy’s long hair has been a bit of a showcase in today’s strip! Longtime readers will remember the Man’s long curls many years ago, and when he “lost his tail.” The Man in real life grew his hair out several times and donated it. The Boy has similarly grown his hair out “just like Daddy” (no plans to donate it just yet, though. He’s a very ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ and medieval-and-celtic-warrior history kinda kid and I sense long hair is about to be part of his future teen years… again very much like his Dad!) I thought it might be fun to see their resemblance to each other in the comic over the years. In real life, the Boy is the spitting image of the Man, with my family’s chestnut colored hair and my Opa’s eyes. (My eyes—that eye gene is very strong!) If it ever does happen, perhaps the Boy will allow a flash-forward strip for when he loses his tail. I feel like that will be many years into the future though, he loves his hair!”
Here I am!! As Le’letha said—Tuesday we were hit by what the National Weather Service called a ‘bomb cyclone’ which had very strong (up to 80mph) winds. Knocked power out for around a half-million people in the Puget Sound area. We got our power back at 4-ish Saturday afternoon, ‘net back around 7-ish. So I and mine are all okay, the house is once again warm and well-lit, and I don’t need to be fully dressed when I go to bed. There’s still some thousands of folks without power.
Hey, guys, IDK if this is a problem anymore, but I FINALLY found an ad blocker that takes ads off pages (and blocks annoying cookie pop-ups!). Being my natural Techie self, I can confirm that it works and I am not sponsored to tell you about it. It’s called pie.

There’s no business like Ora Zell business
Like no business I know
Everything about it is distracting
Stopping the flow of traffic
Nowhere could you get that crabby feeling
When Ora Zella is stealing
That extra bow
There’s no felines like show felines
They smile when they are low
Even with a turkey that woman cooks
You may be stranded out in the cold
But still you wouldn’t change it for a sack of kibble
Let’s go on with the show
The butcher, the baker, the grocer, the clerk
Are secretly unhappy men because
The butcher, the baker, the grocer, the clerk
Get paid for what they do but no applause
They’d gladly bid their dreary jobs goodbye
For anything theatrical and why?
Why, why, why baby?
Why, why, why baby?
Why, why, why baby?
Because there’s no business like Ora Zell show business
Like no business I know
You get word before the news has started
That your favorite uncle died at dawn
And top of that, your ma and pa have parted
You’re broken-hearted
But the news goes on
There’s no felines like show felines, they don’t run out of dough
Angels come from everywhere with lots of jack, and when you lose it, there’s no attack
Where could you get money that you don’t give back? Let’s go on with the show
The cowboys, the wrestlers, the tumblers, the clowns
The roustabouts that move the show at dawn
The music, the spotlights, the people, the towns
The baggage with the labels pasted on
The opening where you think you’re gonna die
There’s nothing so theatrical and why
Why, why, why baby? (Why?)
Why, why, why? (And why?)
Why, why, why baby?
Why, why, why baby? Baby, why?

*I Found This Rather Bittersweet:
Bill Lane/Roger Nichols: The Times of Your Life*
Good morning kitty friends
You wish the good times would never end
But time goes on and you will see
The new and old will always be
Together in your hearts
Our loved ones will also do their part
Creating memories along with you
Remembering you’ll always do
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?
Each day has such joy and such sorrow
Share it with all whom you love
Live for today, prepare for tomorrow
Find inspiration as it comes from above
Here comes the rising sun
A new day has just begun
So live your best life for today
Share your dreams along the way
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?
