I am the only one finding Ox query about Ann’s permanent departure just a little bit foreboding? Like maybe Ann’s not really gone.
And forgive me for saying this, but I’m a little disappointed that we didn’t see a “victory dance” at the mansion, including Tom’s profuse apology to his daughter plus his thanks to Les. I guess the best we can hope for this week is Les and Tiffany asking TJ for two weeks off because Tom is taking them both on a trip to Paris. Still, I kind of feel cheated.
Well you two sure picked a fine time to care about Ann’s presence!
This looks like another attempt at retconning the whole Ann arc. Neither Tj nor Ox made any effort to help Tiff and Les get rid of Ann not even when she was actually at their place of work, including the whole soufflé lingerie scam. I’m not condemning them (we don’t know what excuse G&K r using for their absence just yet) but their complete lack of involvement makes it a bit jarring when we see them so invested in the story.
Ann is like that bad smell in your neighborhood that you just can’t seem to locate and that won’t go away. It’s there. it’s gone, it’s there, it’s gone…….
ya know i find this really funny that both of them are trying to tell them it reminds me of myself and my friends or family when something good happens. also i agree with Les he wants the good stuff to be told so i say let him do it, well at least some of it anyways
Is it time for Nancy to overhear scraps of this, and ask about the full story? And then she finally hears about how her investment, The Fuse, was used by Ann for selling illegal merchandise? Thanks Pru! For being so utterly naive and not keeping the DeGroots informed of who was leasing their space and for what reasons.
Ann Eiffel is not completely gone, Tom is about to find out how much of his money she has moved on with. She had a plan B, She has been stashing away his assets since she first got her grubby fingers on his financial matters.
Is she gone, or is she gone?? We shall see. But before she comes back I’m betting that we’ll be getting some bits of juicy background information from some of those who Ann impacted negatively earlier on in this strip. This will help fill in some of the gaps we all seem to be wondering about.
(Jus’ you wyte Annie Eiffel, jus’ you wyte. You’ll be sorry bur yer tears’ll be too lyte!)
“Just when you thought it was safe to go back into The Fuse”. Somehow i don’t think that Anne’s going to give up this easily. Stand by for her final, nuclear option grade maneuver. ;/
Eiffle is just a trifle. I expected Gunther to walk in on Bets, see her reading a movie guide, and ask her, “What’s showing?” In response, Bets stands up and says, “I’m showing, Guns. Just look at me, and my little round tummy.”
She’s gone. For now. But soon they will discover a lot of missing money from the Ferrell fortune. And they’d better count the silver at Tiffany’s house, too.
Not by a long shot Ox. She will be back. We aren’t yet sure of the capacity, yet, though. I hope (given the start of this new arc) that she’s not in a position to mess with KK or the Fuse. We’ll have to see.
Hopefully Ox’s question is not a fore bearer of bad news to come….. Eiffel is vindictive and she could have swindled all of Tom’s money, maybe she torches the mansion or a few other bad things that come to mind. I hope not but we are dealing with a diabolical entity in Ann Eiffel……
Sigh. Tiffany and Les would have been the perfect siblings. Too bad, it would have been one of the good things about Ann and Tom marriage. For me, Ann now will ask her brother for help and Les will end up to have her as a neighbor.
Really, I had hoped for a fresh arc. I seem to remember a 19-20 year old somewhat scattered, somewhat insecure blonde and her antics. I wonder what happened to her?
Ann will be back, but there are other dramas that will occur in the near future. Gunther and Bess split, Bernice gets a significant other or maybe we have some excitement with Luann.
Soooooooo, it looks like this arc has another week left. Ox’s question has me feeling pretty smug about my prediction, last week. I reiterate: Ann is about to be seen having one too many. Whether she plows her car into that of Jonah (a demise I have predicted for him, when convenient), or simply goes to the clink for DUI would remain to be seen.
Hmmm, are we going to see Ann make an appearance at K2? Some interesting speculation on her next appearance and if Al would help her out (I can’t see it but could happen in an animated cartoon;-).
I may get flack from this, but I don’t care about Tiff’s father. He was never there before and he’s not an interesting character. He only matters in the strip as a device for making Tiffany’s life easier or harder. I would like to see a better growth trajectory for Tiffany in the coming months, though. On the other hand, I would like to see less of Less. The switch of him from villain to sympathetic character has not been successful. He’s resentful, grumpy, and creepy. He is also ugly.
This is great! I love the way Tiffany finally won and I am assuming got reconciled with her dad, but this ads a nice little anticipation to the strip – how and when Ann will turn up again? You know what they say about a bad penny! Maybe a future scene would be everyone’s faces as they see her on tv as the new (pregnant) assistant to the mayor! LOL
Ann is like the corvid-19 virus, although she is not dangerous (I have a dark thought on that though) in that she is hard to get rid of, there is no final solution/vaccine, other than death, and I really don’t want to see that personally, so strong avoidance remedies have to be employed. I like the relationship that has developed between Les and Tiffany, like step-siblings who for all intents and purposes could be the same blood, and feel very strongly about each other—not romance, yet—and the whole of Fuse being concerned about Evil Ann is a good touch. Family. That is what both Les and Tiffany need, Luannverse. When is Bets and Gunther gonna get into this I wonder? I just worry that Ann might try something violent regarding Tiffany, hope not, GREG and KAREN, lets not go that far please. Of course that brings in Al, and while I think he is capable and has friends/associates who could do bad stuff at his request he does not want that in his life anymore, and not against his baby sister either. So many ways this can go.
Ann’s gone for now. Yes, she’ll be brought back down the road to be a thorn in someone’s side. She’s already messed with Bernice, Brad, TJ, Ox, Shannon, Tiffany, Tom, and Les. Maybe next time she’ll face off against Luann, herself. We shall see.
The more interesting question for now really is how does this change Tiffany’s life? Presumably some of the financial constraints will be coming off that will allow Tiffany to decide what’s next for her in terms of college and residence. Will she continue in the Fall back at Moony? Presumably yes, although she’ll have to recover from her failed econ class somehow. And where will she live? Will she go back to her current roommate situation, go back to her posh single, or possibly this is the beginning of her transition to become a household member at the DeGroot’s.
Given how the strip has given a lot more airtime to Tiffany these days, this could be the prefect moment to have Tiffany move in to the DeGroot’s. This would include Luann in more of the plot devices that involve Tiffany and more easily link her back to the rest of the Moony crowd.
Fer chryssakes let her BE GONE already!! Something tells me Ox’s question will be answered tomorrow morning by Ann herself saying “Not on your LIFE” … and the BS will continue. Is Beetle Baily still around? I need a new daily cartoon to accompany my morning coffee. :-(
Wow! Think I did mention the Ann arc evolving into someone else’s. Funny how both Tiffany and Les are trying to tell the story over each other. I like their excitement. The guys just want the bottom line. Wonder what else will be divulged and who will join in. Have to also wonder if there will be a known or unknown guest to wait on?
Prediction 1: Record number of orders for prints.Prediction 2: Eiffel will return. (Never let a good villain really die.)Prediction 3: Record number of returned prints.
The “gossipy” discussion and details being shared between friends is interesting especially with regard to Ox’s comment.
I tend to suspect Greg would not go here, but I keep thinking….
In about 4-6 weeks, it would be a rather interesting twist if Ann suddenly reappeared and had pregnancy test results that showed she was NOW pregnant and that she was suing Tom for child support etc.
Well I have to say I inadvertently and sarcastically called this one today, partially anyway – meanwhile I was not expecting this story arc to actually continue; but a new arc to begin! So, 2 days ago, many hours after “The Slam Heard ’Round the Luanniverse”, a reader commented – perhaps jokingly – that Luann and Bernice would be in today’s strip talking about what just happened to Ann Awful over lunch at The Fuse/Kafe Kablooie. “Wait, what?” How could that be if Lu and Bern were not actually there? So I put my 2 cents in, saying that Tiffany and Les should be there dishing the hot-off-the-press gossip to Lu and Bern, because of course Tiff and Les set that chain of events into motion and saw it through, even beyond the climactic slam (I say Tiff did the slamming because she had the best reasons to do so), and Tiff and Les both work at K2. Which makes sense. Again, I wasn’t actually expecting this to happen! The differences, of course, instead of Lu and Bern we have TJ and Ox, and it’s not over lunch; just workplace banter. But there it is – Tiff and Les dishing out Ann Awful gossip at the Fuse! And yes, Dr. Sheldon Cooper, that indeed is sarcasm!
I hope so, or else Ann will go Alex Forrest on them and make their lives even more miserable. To those who have seen Fatal Attraction, you’ll know what I mean.
Woo hoo, witchy woman – See how high she flies – Woo hoo, witchy woman – She got the moon (and Tommykins) in her eye – (Eagles). I’d be surprised if we don’t see a visit from Ann soon.
I am wondering at this point, why are people, who are much older than Tiffany and Luann and Gunther, making such a fuss about these plotlines? As Queen said: Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? I wrote bad garbage stories in my fiction writing classes in college. But even my BS got As. And I’m…confused by all this attention for “Luann.” And I’m a stupid Texan.

Anyway all that gossiping Les & Tiffany, Et cetera, are doing kind of damages ol’ Tom’s reputation — doh! Got conned, Tom! BRILLiant attorney…

I’m nervous that Ann knows where Tiffany works. I could see her slipping and falling at the Fuse to punish Tiffany.

This has nothing to do with the storyline, but when is Delta going to visit?

The important thing is… Ann Eiffel is GONE!!!

They really do make a good sister and brother though.

Is Ann Eiffel gone? For now, perhaps. But like the proverbial bad penny, she will no doubt turn up again someday.

TJ rarely gets upset. But he is upset in Panel #4!

Yes, Oxford. The Evil Witch of Pitts is gone (for now).
Let us enjoy her absence while we can! And it would be nice if TJ would take a Leave of Absence, too….

You just know she’ll be back. Hopefully not any time soon.

Awful Annie is like a wart.
Almost impossible to get rid of. She just keeps coming back.

Interesting. I thought this arc would have ended on Saturday.

I made a comment that Argythree found really unfunny, and I agree, so I deleted it.
