If you’re gonna dream you are Enterprise crew members..why not dream you’re on the ship as well?!? I have a feeling that’s Ensign Tiffany at the door….

“Knock knock” is a euphemism….

Oh No! Not that crazy chick again!

Who could that be at the door? Why it’s Tiffany! And she’s bringing her “A” game.

A nice, clever way to remind new readers what is going on. As for who is at the door…. Bets is possible but seems too soon to me. It could be Tiffany come to give Gunther some comfort leading to an ill-timed arrival of Bets or, and this I like, when Gunther opens the door he will find TJ, Ox and Tiffany there to “comfort” in his time of trial. And suffocating him in pity. Other people’s pity is worse then the thing making you depressed.

Ho, Gunth could play the drunken porter (in MacBeth) who hears someone knocking at the the door (Act II, Scene 3): “Here’s a knocking indeed! If a man were porter of hell-gate, he should have old turning the key.” He also makes a joke that the person at the door must be an English tailor who skimps on the fabric, but now that tighter hose are in fashion, cannot get away with it…

A less interesting possibility, the knock may be Irma bringing cookies and milk for Gunther.

Tiffany… or Bets? My prediction? Tiffany comes over to console Gunther. While she’s there, Bets finally decides to come over, and finds the two together. Not doing anything. Just, together. Remember their last ‘argument’? Bets thinking Gunther was choosing Tiffany over her. Imagine how this will look. And what about poor Ox?

The beard’s coming back. Does he stop shaving every time he breaks up?

Looks like our boy Gun is deep into a snack induced stupor. Poor Guy…

But wait! … Hark! What knock from yon door emits? Tis the morn and Juliet is the sun! or Bets? or Tiff…

It’ll be Tiffany, not Bets, at the door. It’s more obvious than the fate of the man in the red shirt.

Tiffany would text Gunther, not knock on the door.

Okay, Bets, I will give you this: You look good in a trekkie uniform. But, please stay out of his dreams. You’re not doing him any favors. Okay, I believe this is Tiffany at the door. Guess we gotta wait all week before we’ll find out what Tiff will say to Gunther. Tomorrow: Gunther opens the door and finds Tiff standing there. She comes in and says he looks terrible. Tuesday: Gunther apologizes and immerses into the final moments with Bets. Wednesday might be the day. Tiff apologizes and says it was her fault for not at least do a pirate or two items that night such as a shipwreck song or an elegant nautical theme seeing that he did a wonderful job making the costumes. Thursday: Gunther tells Tiff the pirate thing was unrelated to Bets ghosting him, that the L word had everything to do with that. Friday: Tiff tells him he should talk to Bets face to face….or tells him if Bets refuses to talk to him, that alone tells him everything he needs to know: She no longer wants to be his girlfriend. So, move on, already. Saturday could be anything.

Maybe, it the harp player.

Haven’t missed Bets at all.

He has those ears in his dream? Yeah, I can see why that’s such a happy vision. He looks like an elf.

My bet is Oxford (Ox). Ox is more sensitive than Tiffany.

I’m willing to wager it actually IS Bets, but i have the feeling she’s coming to break up with Gunther. Saying she can’t handle the real feelings he shows her.

And…Gunther sleeps through the knocking and Tiffany gives up and goes home. End of arc.

After scrolling through all these conjectures, all I can say add is, quoting Men at Work: “Who can it be now?”.

Tiffany won’t knock much longer.

Careful, Gunther – it is a Klingon in disguise, and this whole last year will have been a dream. Greg was watching old “Dallas” re – runs.

The knocker is undoubtedly Tiffany, who will be in the apartment just in time to be seen by…bum, bum, bum…Bets!

Well, …. at least this wasn’t another mermaid dream …..

Also, is it coincidental or meaningful that Bets is a “redshirt” in Gunther’s dream?

It’s Mr. Gray. He has decided that is about time for you two the start paying rent.

Poor Gunther, his only happy place is in dreamland. His good looking three-day beard is back (HOORAY!) And lil Punk is next to him ♡. Based on what we saw last week, the one knocking furiously on the door must be Tiffany. Yes, it’s could be someone else, maybe even Bets. But I hope it’s Tiffany, worried about her good old friend/studybuddy Gunther ♡.

Some observers are advising Bets and Gunther to go separate ways. Doesn’t seem that’s gonna happen this week, even in dreamland.

Is Gunther dreaming he’s an Ensign in the Sciences department on the Enterprise? If he was a commander, wouldn’t there be more stripes on his cuffs, and, in Gunther’s dream is Betts an Ensign in Engineering, or, security?

I’m not betting it’s Tiffany at the door, for sole reason that would make Me too Happy.

I’m leaning more toward Irma showing up with non-stop, annoying, smothering this week. Or Al, complaining that Gunther’s snoring is too loud.

I’m surprised that no one suggested it could the coupon girl, returned and looking for her “easy mark,” Les. (I’m looking at YOU, Brdy)

Or Luann, who’s well aware of Gunther’s plight. Luann shows up and she and Gunth eventually pick up where they left off in Gunther’s bedroom back in early 2019 BB. (Before Bets) Nah. That won’t happen either, because that too, would make Me happy.

Maybe it’s a couple gals that have become Gunny’s fans due to Bets constant podcasts. Of course, that would make them stalkers, but what hey.

Or perhaps it’s Ann Eiffel, there looking for Les, but finding Gunther instead, at the lowest point in his life. Ann smells blood in the water and decides to make a weaken Gunther her new apprentice. Behold, as Gunther turns to the dark side.

Nah. It probably some joker Gunther never heard of running for the seat in the sixth congressional district, asking for Gunther’s vote and promising that if elected, he’ll raise taxes on the rich and see to it that those potholes in the street in front the Gulag, “get fixed.” :)

How long is it going to take him to realize what a terrible person she is? I thought he was going to figure it out when she stormed out after their date went slightly less than perfectly, but I guess not.

Confession: I NEVER watched any of the Star Trek. Not for a lack of interest, I just have a hard time finding the original series before watching the next ones. I don’t think there’s any continuity to them, but I just want to see where it all started first. Any Trekkies here wanna help out a Star Wars fan here expand his space adventure?

I often wondered why women crew members would wear mini skirts on a starship. Possible zero gravity situations could cause problems.

Well now comes the next stage, maybe, if the Bets, Gunther saga as it connects with the Tiffany coming in as a more other awareness person. I know the setup is most obviously that Tiffany, feeling bad about what happened to Gun and Bets is over to console Gunther, leading to Bets coming over to make up or talk and seeing Tiffany there leading to a jealous Bets once and for all leaving, but I doubt if that is the scenario, or if it might be, that it will turn out that way. Let’s see how the cookies crumble.

I see a parallel between Gunther’s current situation and the time when Tiff holed herself up in her dorm room (eating pizza and donuts) after finding out that Tom was spending the summer with Ann Eiffel not her. The shoe’s on the other foot now with Gunther falling into depression, sitting around eating chips watching trek videos, not shaving or bathing, not leaving the house etc. I’m guessing Tiff will now try to lift Gunth out of this hole which he did not dig but merely fell into.

Of course Gunther would dream of Bets in an Uhuru outfit but not dream of the Mirror, Mirror version with the bare midriff and hip knife accessory.

Who is at the door? Remember when Tiff was depressed over Ann Eiffel dating her father and shut herself in her dorm room? Gunther went to see her, talk with her, introduced her to Star Trek and got her to open up. Tiff is going to repay that favor.

Hopefully it’s Tiffany and Gunther can rip her head off. If she hadn’t been so rigid about the dinner, or at the very least made more of an effort to tell Bets there was no way the pirate thing was happening, the big fight wouldn’t have happened, the conversation at Weenie World wouldn’t have happened, and Gunther might have waited for a more appropriate time to tell Bets he loves her (instead of when she was in a blind rage). In my opinion, there would have been absolutely nothing wrong with giving them a romantic pirate dinner and pocketing the $300. She didn’t write anything even close to what really happened in her precious A paper anyway – so why would it matter?

I wish that wasn’t a dream but sleeping Punk look so cute that it took out the sting.

Okay, how about this, Tiffany at the door, apologizes for the dinner fiasco thenBets shows up….finds Tiffany there with Gunther….and the fight is on!That is certainly what would happen in real life to me. That is for sure!! Lol

So Tiffany, in her argument with Bets, claimed that she knew about romance. It struck me that I have never seen her with a boyfriend or significant other. There are vague innuendos and portrayals of her acting kind of slutty flirty, but never anything real. So what makes her a romance expert? Has she been reading books? I think not. Watching Hallmark movies? Maybe. A vivid imagination is probably all she has to draw from. Either way, she certainly never had anything to back up that claim.

It took me several read thru’s to get that the first panel was part of the dream.

Original Trekker here…But who in the world in their right mind would watch Star Trek on a laptop computer screen?!?

Maybe it’s Bets coming to give Gunther his communicator pin back… we can only hope..

I predict that Tiffany is at the door….. and she will convince Gunther who is in a snack stupor of some cockamamie scheme to try to get Bets back…. so we will have a week of “hilarity ensues”….. but during the madcap adventure, Tiffany will begin to realize she actually has a romantic interest in Gunther….. and at the end of the week either:

A) Gunther and Bets will have some sort of reconciliation….. and yet Tiffany will now have unresolved feelings and interest in Gunther….. leading someday to an arc where Tiffany voices her own romantic interests,

or

B) Tiffany tells Gunther of her romantic interests…… just as Bets shows up in some way to explain her actions and seek forgiveness and a renewal of the relationship….. leaving Gunther utterly flummoxed and not knowing what to do.

This does not bode well for Gunther

If Gunther wants Bets back so badly maybe he should try getting some grownup furniture rather than expecting her to share his single beanbag chair. But sure, that rug he blew the furniture budget on was totally worth it. /s

Michelle Nichols was going to leave StarTrek to do a Broadway play. Martin Luther King Jr. requested she stay on the show instead.

This does not bode well.

Personally, I did like Bets when she was first introduced as a strong woman who stood up for herself and Gunther to LuAnn and company. Then she de-evolved into the instagram follower queen.

Oddly enough I don’t hate Bets. She is not as relentlessly stupid as Tiffany nor a towering stack of neurosis and anxieties like Bernice. She has an upbeat personality and a lively interest in things, much like Luann without the disdain the authors have for Luann. Bets does have an annoying habit of wanting to document her life on-line. In that respect she is a lot more like the girls of today than Luann, Bernice or Tiffany. Gunther has in times past expressed displeasure about this but he has never made an issue about that. Judging by their behavior at the study-prom (where Bets spent the evening sitting on Gunther’s lap) Gunther has been willing to trade a lack of privacy for the skin-contact with her. Still, for all that Gunther needs to be able to say “no” when “no” is his position. So while their relationship needs some balancing on the whole I see it as being beneficial both for Gunther as a character and plotwise for the strip.

When Bets was introduced she mentioned that she had trust issues due to something in her past. Having listened to more episodes of Dr. Phil then I ever wanted I would assume that Bets was the victim of catfishing — someone claiming they loved her while cleaning out her bank account, or cheating on her with other woman (or men) If that is her background it is easy to see why Gunther saying “I love you” was as triggering for Bets as Bernice seeing a heavy-set man and assumed he was Ben. I assume that by weeks end Bets will have worked out her feeling and come back to Gunther. And because Bets has been good for Gunther, I hope that this is what will happen.

Gunther’s state of “chips” stupor will last until Saturday, meanwhile, we get to enjoy a Gunther’s dream sequence.

that better not be Bets at the door….odds are that it is Tiff.

So, he sleeps right through his last, best chance for a reconciliation.

That was a good little twist for a comic strip…but disappointing for Gunther.

I would rather it be OX to offer some brotherly comfort to Gunther. At least Punk is there for him. Most likely Tiffany though.

Personally, I would have preferred to hear Les and Ox give Tiffany suggestions on improving her business concept.

Having gone through the pain of loss and having similar dreams thereafter (not sci-fi themed, mind you), today’s strip hit me a little harder than I thought it would. I feel for Gunther. Dreams can comfort you or torture you, especially in grief.

Hapless, hopeless dreamer, Gunther.
