… So her Fans were asking for her to get back together with Gunther!

So, she talks right over him to make sure his dialogue matches what she wants her fans to hear. When in front of the camera, she can come up with those lines pretty quickly. That has to be some kind of a talent…

Tiff and Bets really are meant for each other.

As for Gunther and Bets only time will tell. She was basically created to be the perfect girlfriend for him so they’ll probably stay together. Hey, at least he’s smiling in the last panel.

We are fully back in “comedic” territory.

Well, I guess he didn’t Forfeit after all. Hug her back, Gunnie! Try not too be too freaked out with how quick her emotions changed.

Ughhh. Bets will NEVER change. She’s pretending to be sad to garner sympathy from her social media followers. Soon as her desired sympathy and accompanying popularity wanes, she’ll get upset and leave gunther…again

Actually, I’m somewhat anticipating a separation to follow — possibly a temporary one.

Oh, no. Tiff is inciting Bets’ annoying followers to have a say in all this when it should be between Bets and Gunther. GNK are sending wrong messages here, giving the followers the power of control, words, votes, etc, over a relationship they have nothing to do with. This is just wrong. They all need ADULTS to intervene. NANCY?? Where are you? Toni?? Betcha GNK are hiding them – Toni is fighting a fire and Nancy fighting off a gentleman admirer at The Fuse. The kids need your help pronto! They need your COMMON SENSE, of which GNK has none!

I gots me doubts when the desires of others are driving the decision making.

(And if there be any doubts, I feel the same way about Bachelorette or any entertainment based mating shows.)

I haven’t given up, but I would determine her real feelings and if they would change with audience response.

As little effort as possible, eh Bets? (She didn’t even have to chase him.) Don’t talk to me about trauma. Gunther, walk away.

Gunther and Bets together again? Not a problem for me.

But!

There needed to be a growth segment. Clearly, that is short-circuited as of now.

Unless there is a cliff-hanger tomorrow.

At any rate, time’s running out.

As usual it’s not about love for Bets it’s her social media influencers how many clicks can she get.

I agree with Brdshtt. The very first frame, what does Bets do right after she sees Gunther? She tells Tiffany to take a vid (for the fans). What she DOESN’T do is first rush into Gunther’s arms. In the second frame, as he starts to answer her declaration of how they are meant to be together by saying that a few minutes ago, she said something else, she interrupts him. And in the last frame, where others see Gunther as smiling or looking happy, I only see him looking either astonished or confused.

Sorry, I just don’t see this as being good for Gunther in the long run…

Written, directed, and performed by Broadway Bets. Keep your pants on Gunther, everything is phony and your next arc won’t be romantic, it will be trying to get out of the trap you just walked into.

We see what it is really all about….the fans.

Take a video of the backs of their heads, so they can make sure their hairdressers did a good job!

Oho! She’s back to focusing on the fans instead of on the present experience. And she’s telling Gunther how it’s going to be instead of talking things over as an equal.

All you whiners who were complaining about how the writers had a few minutes of cheerleading by Tiffany cure Bets too quickly and easily of all her psychologicsl issues, you may now start complaining about them making it not so quick and easy.

(Isn’t it great how you can always find something to complain about if that’s your goal?)

Crisis averted. Gun just needs to set boundaries about when photos are taken. Aside from that, this is a great couple to watch.

That was my comment from March 28, 2020. It still holds up.

There’s still tomorrow so the crisis may not yet be averted. I hope we see Gunther take the camera from Tiffany’s hand, and then return the ILY.

Has Gunther never kiss Bets?

So many anti-Bets commentors are fee-UMING at this, I bet! But I, for one, am very proud of Bets listening to Tiff and for Tiff intervening when she did. Now there’s just the matter of the refund and the apology…lol

Gunther, show some nerve for once and tell her that she can have you or she can have her social media. There’s not enough room for all of you in a relationship.

I wonder if Bets’ followers were as divided on whether she should get back with Gunther as the commenters here are?

So the elephant tiptoed out of the room. I still don’t get how Bets was worried about Gunther leaving her before she ditched him. Bets was Gunther’s only real GF and he didn’t appear to have wings on.

This is why I don’t particularly care for Bets. She needs too much validation from fans.

Gunther may want to make sure he is not the lead character in the “Truman Show”. This plot is going down the path of a “3’s Company” like sit-com. Granted people typically like happy endings but is this really going to be long term or did Tiff just “enable” Bets and her platform with this act of kindness? I mean that Tiff had good intentions and she really wanted to help Gunther but she just handed Bets a potential viral blockbuster for her vlog channel and is this “glee” of Bets being back with Gunther genuine or just part of charade for the camera as inquiring viewers are now going to click on and see what Bets is going to do with the young lad next?!?!?

Side note: I am disappointed with Gunther, kid had a chance to stand up for himself and he came up with snake-eyes instead, its like he has a sign on his back that says “Kick me!” but hey if he is happy with life like that, more power to him. It is just that some think it is difficult to have a happy fulfilling life when you allow others to make every decision for you.

This may be the most emotive I’ve seen Bets be- much of the time she has this kind of look of “Dull Surprise” over her face- she wasn’t quite as happy nor as angry as the other characters- kind of less cartoonish overall. But her look in the last panel is pretty good- they may be beginning to “figure her out”.

Of course her obsession with her Twitch viewers or whatever still comes into her happiest moments. Gunther’s as confused as you might expect, but at least seems happy with the results. Granted Bets has been acting very mercurial and all over the place so she’s hardly the most stable personality, but this MIGHT actually lead to more communication and/or backstory (like, her FAMILY left after she said she loved them?).

I dunno- Gunther had a stable girl in Rosa, and it just didn’t work out. Maybe he needs a flibbertigibit to be happy, as she needs his stability.

Gunther looks so happy ♡. Bets grabbed him and she doesn’t seem to want to let him go for the rest of her life♡. Tiffany is satisfied, her job as a good friend was well done. But I’m afraid the “fans” will question this reconciliation…

heh and here I thought they were losing it into an overly sweet happy end but no, the stripes on the hornet are there still :D

Nothing has changed. Bets is still more concerned about her followers than about Gunther.

Congratulations, Gunther, you have a girlfriend whose FIRST thought on seeing you again was to take a video to post on her page so she could get hits. Her priority was not to talk to you or fix your relationship, it was to promote herself.

It’s not too late to make good your escape.

Tomorrow Gunther goes to the hospital to get treated for the whiplash from Bets jerking him around so violently.

Tomorrow we see Gunther saying No Thanks, or I’ll Think About It to Bets offer of reconciliation. He is not hugging her back. His body is stiff, the exact same way he was when Rosa hugged him goodbye in Peru.

No woman in their right would say that they are meant to be together with Gunther.

Wow! So many people are hung up on the fact that Bets uses (gasp!) SOCIAL MEDIA!! The horror! The horror!!

Ok, I thought people were making way too big a deal of the fact that Bets is terminally online, but her first instinct when Gunther comes back is to capitalize on this love revelation for her fans? Please let this story end this week. I don’t even care who’s right anymore.

Good guys “CAN” actually win for a change. Why not Gunther? A good looking girl who loves him and has a future. I’m really looking forward to all the laughs this match up will present in the future. Thank You!!! I guess my rabbit’s foot, horseshoe, four leaf clover, and cross fingers on both hands is still going strong these days and is working well….thank goodness…. :)

Gunthie needs to grow a pair and establish some ground uses if this love match is to continue. Like, ditch the omnipresent video. It sounds like Betts, for all of her romantic visions, is so addicted to social media stardom that it still takes precedent over anything else.

Again, this isn’t about Gunther, it’s Bets’ fulfilling another fantasy and putting it on display for “fans”. No one is considering Gunther’s feelings, his needs or where the heck he’s been for the last 20 minutes! Please Gunther, put the brakes on this charade, because nothing has changed.

OMG, such an obvious comedic bait and switch on the part of GnK! Even though Bets had her phone trying to call Gun(ther) when she saw, hugged, and told him her feelings, she handed her phone to Tiffany, but said nothing about “fans” Tiffany did. Those who hate Bets will immediately jump to their usual conclusions, others, like me focus in the story. Obvious red herring. Let’s she how Gun(ther) reacts on the Saturday strip, along with Bets. It should be neck jerking either way.

Sad that nothing is private with her. Tiffany should have left when Gunther arrived. Gunther is now a door mat.

Tomorrow Tiff will realize she did not hit the record button. Bets will get upset and want to do it all again. Gunther will get a clue and exit stage right. Maybe stage left.

I have to say, I think that this is pretty sweet. I was hoping that things would work out. They obviously enjoy each other. Bets realized what she had/has and how she messed up, Tiffany helped her look far into a probable future with Gunth, and now can move on from her fear of rejection. They’re cute together! Young couples have survived much greater challenges than what we have here — including the social media fixation component. And Tiffany, not too far underneath all of her “surface effects,” has a really good heart, and was genuinely helpful. Nice. This all could grow into something beautiful. Now we just need to get Tiff a good, loving guy, if she wants one.

I was hoping Tiffany would say no to taking a video. Hopefully Gunther will now say since the video was first before him he is still out.

BOOOOM, my head is exploding. I have to apologize to those I gave a snippy, pedantic comment to (I do that sometimes I admit) about today’s strip. I am just as guilty of projection as those I accuse of it. Yes Bets did hand the phone to Tiffany and suggested she take a video. It certainly raises the points made by BRD and others that this is all a social media scene in Bets’ mind. Maybe she projects herself. So let ME wait. I believe she really loves Gunther but..? I still think this might, might be a big red herring, but as much as I warn about misdirection plays too. So I’m SOOOORRYY.

If this is the way this storyline wraps up I think I’m done. I’ve disliked “Bets” since she was introduced. Gunther being an endless doormat for whatever girl looks at him twice is getting old.

I had hopes that now this relationship would last. Then, today, it’s “Tiff, take a vid!” which tells us how and why it’s all going to end: not because of Bets’ fear of being dumped, but because of her narcissistic obsession with Instagram and Facebook. Way to let your fans down, G & K. Shame.

This situation that is being depicted is still disappointing and frustrating to me:

1. Sure…. Bets NOW is all about “the love”. But, she is not showing or displaying any sort of awareness, chagrin, or recognition of what her actions were up to this point.

2. Sure…. Bets was all hurt and confused about Gunther’s “I love you.” statement… but not because of Gunther, but because of whatever happened to her in her past. But, without her explaining her apparent change of heart….. this sudden and rather extreme 180 would feel akin to “whiplash” to most folks…. including Gunther. Bets needs to SLOW DOWN and do the work of explaining herself, and her thoughts, and also to apologize for her previous IGNORING of Gunther for weeks and weeks.

3. Sure…. we ALL know that Bets is all about the “social media-ization” of her life. But…. damn…. the idea that she pauses to give Tiffany filming instructions…. before starting her “I love you!” surprise “reveal”….. just…. feels too, too scripted…. too, too callous…. too, too calculated. And, like I said in #2…. the “I love you!” from her should occur after apology and explanation of her other unfortunate actions.

Overall… Tiffany succeeded in her efforts…. but…. I very truthfully feel that right now…. this current situation is not an improvement for Gunther…. and Bets has not learned the real things about relationships that she needs to learn.

so glad I stopped reading dailies and just binge a month or two at a time. This strip has been wasting a ton of time, fluffing it out fluffing it out.

One thing about the phone red herring, as I call it. I made a mistake in my first comment and apologized because I did not realize that Bets handed her phone to Tiffany in panel 1, asking her to take a video. Then the middle panels where she declares her love and feelings about the future. Here is where I need to point out the (new trite word) inflection point between those who can’t stand Bets and those who like her: those who hate her say that Bets directed the video for her “fans.” Those who like Bets and want to see the relationship survive and prosper, see that TIFFANY was the one who said “fans” unsolicited. Very instructive. Tomorrow should be determinative.

You can tell by the comments here that we are an older crowd. Our disdain for posting our private lives on social media is not shared by younger generations. They see it as a totally normal way to live. Everything is meant to be shared and discussed. On that note, THIS Gen X girl is grateful to be from the Old School.

A bipolar friend just said that Bets reminds him of himself on a moodswing roller-coaster. I’ll just leave that here for now. For the record, once you get to know them and how to deal with them, bipolar people can make wonderful spouses—if you value excitement over stability. Granted, they’re an acquired taste, but they will never bore you.

I don’t know where you get people were “whining.” I commented that if Bets had such deep-seated pain, and was so scarred by her past trauma, then she wouldn’t just get over it in a few minutes, I don’t care who she was talking to.

So we have two choices: A) Bets" trauma wasn’t as bad as she was making it out to be if a quick pep talk from Tiff can cure her,——-OR———————

B) Tiffany is secretly a practicing witch, and she used the incense and the wind chimes to cast a spell to magically make Bets all better! :P:P:P:P

I don’t know why you guys dislike Rosa so much. To me, she actually cared about Gunther a lot; she just also was very idealistic and wanted to help people. But she didn’t drag Gunther to Peru and insist that he join her crusade. He decided to go with her himself. He had actually found a good job at her uncle’s clinic and was helping employees with their computers. But Rosa realized that the clinic wasn’t helping poor people, which is what she wanted to do, so she set out for another location. Again, though, she never insisted that Gunther participate and I think she really probably did miss him when he left. But it’s entirely possible for a person (man or woman) to be dedicated to a cause and to also love a person. So why can you only think of her in terms of only trying to ‘trap’ Gunther into marriage to support a child? She never put her ‘fans’ ahead of Gunther and I doubt she thought of the people she tried to help as ‘fans’…

Will Gunther have the sense to see that Bets’ addiction to her fans/social media is stronger than how she feels about him? Someone whose feelings swing so sharply and so quickly doesn’t seem to be good partner material. Good Lord, Gunther, RUN!

I am disappointed that this took such a shallow twist, with Bets reverting to her media minded obsessions, but you have to admit she does have a way of taking advantage of situations that will look good staged on the internet. Tiffany’s reaction is a surprise. She’s all on board with taking the video, knowing full well it will be posted on line. Seems like her “love guru” alarm would be going off because this is not romantic, it’s just the opposite. It publicizes and demeans what should be a private moment. Gunther, well, he’s just clueless and no one cares what he wants, so he doesn’t matter. Those two girls are running the show.
