looks like Bwad is going to be a dad!

It is long overdue, to have a Toni and Brad arc, Who can we expect in the arc besides TJ, Shannon, either Gunther or Les or both, and possibly Frank and Nancy.

It sure is going to be nice for the next month or so not having to stay up until 1am waiting for the new comics to drop to read and comment, because I refuse to conform to G.W. Bush’s extension of an antiquated concept that has been proven by medical and mental health experts to have absolutely no benefits for people, their internal clocks, or their circadian rhythm. So while everyone else has already lost an hour of sleep, I’m still basking in standard time until April, which is when we would still be springing forward had Bush not extended is for absolutely no reason whatsoever. ("To improve trade with other countries, he said, but literally the only other country that went along with extending DST was Canada, because they had no choice in the matter). DST sucks, past it on.

However, not wanting to revisit a “Why is a certain character still there” argument (Ala Bernice) I would merely suggest that the kitchen might not be the best place to whip out the old home pregnancy test kit, Tone.

PS: CVS, once a terrific pharmacy that rarely missed a beat, even during COVID, now stinks. Thanks Corporate. :-(

It could be hard on Toni and Brad to take care of Shannon along with their own new baby (if that’s what’s happening). Jonah will have to figure out some other way to take care of her…like a job with predictable hours.

When she says “I hope not,” it sure looks like she means she hopes there won’t be anything to surprise him with.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, everyone. The test may come out negative. If it’s positive they can run this story arc for the next 3 years before she has that baby. You know how slow time goes by in this strip.

Frank and Nancy are going to be grandparents. I bet they will be overjoyed. With a kid on the way, a subplot could be Toni and Brad informing TJ that his bedroom is going to be converted into a nursery after the baby arrives. TJ discovers that rents have skyrocketed in SoCal and moves into The Fuse. If I recall, Brad really wants to start a family (remember the dinner with “baby” back ribs, “baby” carrots and “baby potatoes”) but Toni might be a bit hesitant which explains why she said that she “hopes” that she does not have a surprise for Brad.

At first reading it might appear that Toni IS pregnant, but if you look at the solid setup and panels one and three its more likely she might feel she is pregnant, or might want to be, given the CVS Bag in panel one, and the pregnancy test kit in panel three. This is a setup arc, and its part of the deep bench in this toon, introducing us again to Toni, TJ, Brad as characters, whom we are of course interested in: will Brad and Toni be pregnant? Follow the story.

I’m surprised by the negative comments about Shannon. Toni and Brad, and Brad’s family—-even T.J. (remember, T.J. figured out how to create a little bedroom for Shannon so she would have a permanent spot of her own in the house)—-represent the only family stability Shannon knows. No way Toni and Brad would push her aside for any reason.

Give me a break on the.product.placement cracks.. This is STORY PROP for GODS sake, not.product placement…GnK are merely using a common, almost generic method to make the arc clear: now the whole issue of Brad and Toni’s possible addressed in true Luann fashion. Follow the durn story, not grump about immaterial things that detract from ot.

The LAST thing Toni wants. She’d have to suspend her career as a firefighter!

If Toni is pregnant, she won’t be able to be an active firefighter. Since that appears to be something she really wants, she will be disappointed. And since firefighters don’t earn that much, having only one income won’t be enough for them to get by. One of the reasons they invited TJ to live with them was to help with rent. Possible arcs could include Toni getting another job and what happens when Brad and Toni share their bedroom with the crib (not much sleep at night – not so good for a firefighter who needs to be able to concentrate, Brad. Other arcs: TJ as baby nanny, Luann as baby nanny…

It’s about time! plus, it’s about time that last arc was done!

The moment I feared has arrived. The one about the really serious talk about having children or not which could determine the end of the relationship between Brad and Toni. Let’s hope the couple will be able to overcome this moment and not fall apart. Probably TJ’s help in saving the couple will be fundamental, as it was for the creation of it.

Never having had the need to run a pregnancy test, I am curious: Are they normally run in the kitchen? Why else would Toni ask TJ if he was “going to be in here now?”

Yes! If Toni is pregnant, let’s move TJ out. After all, this house has been established to have only one bathroom, and they need it to potty train and bathe and whatever parents do with babies in bathrooms. And then there’s Shannon. She needs room to throw pots and break stuff. There’s no room for TJ, and doesn’t he deserve his own bachelor pad? Brad and Toni probably will adjust to cooking their own meals.

She doesn’t know yet if she’s pregnant or not. The test is in the box she’s looking at. When she says she hopes there’s not a surprise for Brad, it sounds like she means she hopes she won’t have to tell him she’s pregnant.

So I guess the psychotic-looking Luann “puppet” is forgotten. What was the point in making it so unhinged if that was never going to be called out? I know Bernice started to address the issue, but like the big Bets/Stef confrontation it quickly fizzled out to nothing (remember how much we were looking forward to that development, only for it to utterly disappoint?).

While I hope it will not happen here, I am reminded that G&K have (in the past) led us along in believing something great, i.e. the story of achievement and experience (I’m talking about Luann skydiving) only to pull the rug out from under us, i.e. it never really happened. So I will wait to see in this case.
