What was motive for Joe, the CFO, for offering Frank Degroot a cabin in the mountains? To hoodwinked Frank into leaving the company?

If there is no heat yet, why isn’t everyone chilled to the bone? At least there is some firewood, but is there room for all four to even lay down in the sleeping bags? Are there enough sleeping bags? Is there enough wood? How about food? Those are important questions because it looks like they are going to be snowed in.

The road to town might be cover with a snowpack?

I’ll be disappointed if this turns out to be “the best Christmas of all,” even though they have little or no food, a small dirty cabin and nothing to do there. The CFO’s wife would probably be horrified if she knew people were going to stay there with it in that condition. They probably come early to clean when they stay there and bring things the DeGroots didn’t know they needed. They need to think of an alternate fun vacation and get out as soon as they can.

What did she expect to hear?

Third time the porch has been shown with a black V at the edge. Perfectly placed to be an arrow propped up against the post.

Well, now we see where Luann gets her entitled behavior. It’s a free stay in a cabin, Frank. It ain’t your CFO’s fault you made faulty assumptions.

I’m reminded of an episode on I WAS LUCY where the Ricardo’s and the Mertz’ were snowbound in a cabin in Switzerland.

A roof over their heads, 4 walls and a floor, a stone fireplace with wood to burn, a kitchen. Think of the days when you had to cut down trees and build your own cabin and find your own food. We have become SO spoiled. “Oh, it’s not big enough!” Grab an ax and enlarge it then. ;-)

Thus, the Ge Groot clan perished in the wintry mountains, allowing the strip to be rebranded as Tiffany.

As I said whent he arc started, it’s a CFO’s cabin which means it will be 100% disconnected. If there is an exec who loves nature, then it’s likely a complete shut off from work and society. Glad to see Luann is picking up on that. There is nothing like the sound of falling snow and that first day after a solid snow fall…the world is muted under a blanket. One of my favorite sounds.

And the BAD part is, somewhere back in the town of Pitts, Bernice is resting comfortably in a nice, warm, DeGroot home, enjoying cocoa and internet access.

And it begs the question: If the DeGroots don’t make it back, does Bernice get the house? ;-)

Looks like Luann really likes the place. Maybe having a similar refuge to write in total concentration, away from any distractions, is one of her dreams. Frank really took too many things for granted, at this point it’s clear this happened because of his superficiality and his CFO really just wanted to be nice, having no idea that he would be bringing the whole family. For me it’s clear that they will stay there at least for one night. It will be a truly different Christmas for them. Finally!

I’m hoping for some spookiness at some point.

Ah, the sound of silence. Something that can be very special at times. That’s why my wife and I like boon-dock camping.

I live in the woods I get to see my neighbors come fall and winter maybe. They can’t stan it I mind my own business I don’t get caught up in the drama. And I happy!

This is the beginnings of a Holiday themed horror flick. No internet (let’s be real, maybe no cell service), no one nearby to hear your screams. Just throw in a serial killer dressed as Santa Claus.

Nothing nicer than listening to the silence of snow falling..Sadly tinnitus has taken that pleasure from me.

I live in a very densely populated area. I would love a few days in a cabin in the woods away from people and traffic.

I love the snowy effect. Just lovely!I also think they’re going to be fine. They have firewood (not “wood sticks” as someone said. That would be kindling), they have a decent kitchen, and plenty of rooms for sleeping bags. They’re going to enjoy time as a family, the best gift of all.

Ah, the sound of silence! Could be a song title! ;-))!I’m thinking Toni will come to surprise them on a snowmobile and tell them they’re in the wrong place. The lodge is further down the road and decorated for Christmas. Well, one can hope!!

I am definitely going to win the plot lottery on this one. Just a reminder: wrong building, family discovers peace and love. My God, these are so predictable.

Silence is golden—enjoy it while you can! I always enjoyed the magical silence that a big snowstorm brought on (I grew up in Minnesota). Make some hot cocoa and chill out, guys (esp. mom and dad, who seem to be acting out a wee bit much). Brad is being the adult in the room…getting a cozy fire going will change the mood (unless the chimney hasn’t been cleaned in a long time…).

CFO’s pretty smart. He wants to use th cabin in a few weeks, and if it’s been a while, it needsta be cleaned up. So let the DeGroots use it and they’ll clean it up while they’re there. That way it’ll be all ready for him. Durned smart thinkin!

If they aren’t going to get while the gettin’s good, then Brad the first responder needs to put down the jerky and remember frostbite is a thing and get the fire going.

I would’ve gotten all the details about the lodge, then checked the weather forecast… But then we wouldn’t have this tired, overused story arc.

In th third picture there’s a lot of snow buildup on top of the chimney. Mebbe they needta check that before lighting a fire. Could be an old bird’s nest on top of the chimney if it hasn’t been used for a while an the snow’s sittin on it

A lot of commenters are gushing about what a “wonderful, sweet, amazing family Christmas the DeGroots will have!”

But no one said it was Christmastime in the Luannaverse. Comic strip time doesn’t match ours.

If G&K says the family will be stuck in this tiny cabin for Christmas OK, but I’ll wait until they make some mention of Christmas. Remember, G&K blew right past Thanksgiving with nary a mention.

Ok, it’s not a luxury “Guest Lodge” with all the amenities, but it looks pretty good to me as a get-a-way! It’s also at least as nice as most of the houses my relatives lived in back in the 50s in Appallachia, and those were actually quite comfortable.
