Frank is going to be proud of her… and a little jealous. I hope Luann tells Tara to take a flying leap and ends that relationship.

I wonder how long it took Greg to draw the airplane, to get it just right? ;)

This “DeGroot” is Frank, I assume? From the way the Jumpin’ Jack instructor (AKA Judy Funnie from Doug) is drawn with womanly curves and the DeGroot is drawn shapeless and schlubby it kind of makes me think we’ll be getting the switch-a-roo. Especially with that transfer sign being a Chekhov’s gun yesterday.

If we went for a big twist it ends up being Nancy, Brad, or Toni but I kinda doubt that since they set up Frank wanting to do it.

The jump instructor calls the person “DeGroot.” I think this was done intentionally instead of calling her Luann. This way it can just as likely be Frank as some people suggested wanted to jump. Given the back of the figure presented, it is not obvious who that is.

Hmm, without any support for tsul half, how does airplane stay aright? In any event, we are not being shown any of training or outfitting pilot must have put Lu through.

Nonrefundable fee is great idea— without it 3/4 of jumpers would have bailed out. I mean, not bailed out. Cold feet.

The fact the last name is used might be a tip it’s Frank. The instructor did greet Luann with her full name so she knows her name is Luann.

To be honest, this should be a tandem or buddy jump. When I made my first, and last jump, I was attached to an instructor.

So, no instruction? No orientation? Just “Here’s a parachute, good luck!”?

I’m thinking either the dad or the brother, not Luann.

Awesome! After making us understand that Frank would also like to try skydiving and that it was possible to transfer the jump from one person to another, now there is today’s strip. Made to raise doubts about who is jumping between him and Luann… I think/hope it’s Luann. That “If I survive” she said yesterday makes me think she was completely determined to continue alone, in spite of Tara, Piro and the whole world!

Wow… Luann isn’t going to bother finding her so-called “friends” and dragging them back to parachute school? Hopefully they’ll visit her in the hospital.

The contrast between the two profiles is pretty clearly intended to allow for “DeGroot” to be either Luann or Frank. I’m hoping it’s Luann, and that her figure isn’t obvious because she’s slouching – figuratively being dragged – rather than striding confidently towards the plane. The confidence will come after she’s completed the jump.

Nobody is going to take pictures of this! And nobody is going to believe that Luann did this!

For my 40th BD I bought myself a present of a tandem jump in Snohomish Washington. A 45 second free fall. Experience was equal parts sheer terror and exhilaration.

Personally, I think that is likely Frank rather than LuAnn. The sign said “Transfer credits allowed” and Frank seemed more enthused than LuAnn.

Who knows, if Luann can really skyjump, maybe she’ll ignore her fears, and, really committ to a relationship, with somebody.

So Luann’s jumping out of a Cessna Caravan. Sweet, its one of the few turbine powered aircraft that I’ve ever wanted to fly.

Is it just me or why is the green jumpsuit person, allegedly Luann, so mysterious looking? I know they wear helmets, but leader lady doesn’t have hers on yet. Planting seeds of doubt that she didn’t call her dad to come take her place?

I’m betting that it will be Luann’s dad who makes the jump.

What I want to know is if the pilot is going to turn out to be someone from Luann’s past, and if so, then who? Personally, I am hoping for either Aaron or his father. His father would result in a longer and more complex story line with catching up happening first, then the typical Luann concerns of whether she should get in touch with Aaron. (Yeah, I know some people did not appreciate Aaron, but he and his father were mostly kind souls. Remember the night they rescued soaked Luann during a storm at the mailbox in a bikini because of a sleep-over dare? Aaron’s father taught both kids a good lesson that night.) Who would I not want the pilot to be? Crazy Annie leads the list.

Luann’s already on the plane. She got there early. She doesn’t want to do it alone. She’s planning to get new friends if she survives.

QED, she called Frank and he’s going with her, but he’s a little late and thus the last one on the plane.

If you look carefully, you’ll see that is NOT Luann, it’s a body double.

Meet your new friends in the plane

The sign about credits being transferable was shown for a purpose. Although we wanted it to be Luann, and I jumped to that conclusion at first, that is definitely Frank.

a lot of folks here seem to think it is Frank (I sure hope not); aside from his enthusiasm and checking the prices of options, there’s not a lot of evidence that the person in the green jumpsuit with headgear is anyone other than Luann. It looks like there are others (who didn’t need coaxing) on the plane waiting. The way the instructor is walking with this last person and speaking follows up on yesterday’s interaction; she knows Luann is scared and doesn’t want to go alone and she’s trying to give her confidence, get her to relax and talk. Luann is probably petrified and is just giving a thumbs up hand signal.

I would think the first jump (without even any ground school) would be done double?

I honestly really want it to be Luann jumping that would actually make for a very good storyline. It would create a lot of little arcs moving forward too. Creative writing class now she has something to really write about.

I didn’t even pay attention to the transfers allowed notice yesterday, but when I first looked at the last panel and the instructor said, “DeGroot.” I understand it’s meant to be ambiguous but it’s Frank not Luann.

Let’s just be honest here, we all know how the Evanes write…they don’t have the drive to have Luann actually go through with it even though having her actually be the jumper here creates so many opportunities for character growth and story arcs moving forward.

If G&K are having Frank take Luann’s place because they think it will be a dramatic plot twist and a surprise to the readers, they couldn’t be more wrong.

It would be a bigger surprise and dramatic plot twist if they actually let Luann go through with it!

The Cessna Caravan is well drawn.

If the jumper in the green jump suit still is Luann, good for her: but It looks as though it may be some other DeGroot she transferred in. Either way, the DeGroot paucity of backpack suggests a tandem jump with Curly Red of Jumping Jacks. Bums away!

This really hurts ya know? Expecting to jump with friends and they don’t want to. I have been to events by myself.

I would like Luann to jump, but “DeGroot” shown walking to the plane had a helmet, A different jumpsuit and, more importantly, A different body in the jumpsuit. Built like Frank.
