But the REAL winner here is Tiffany.

These are some of the blankest expressions I’ve ever seen here. I can’t tell if those two are sad, confused, or trying to fart stealthily.

They are suffering from misconceptions of what life is.

They’re all so immature/young! Tiffany makes me think she watched soap operas as her Dad worked .

I can’t blame you, Gunther. Sometimes it is best to walk away.

Scary that Tiffany makes real sense; and the ones oblivious of the facts have at one time or other talked down to her.

Bets needs to work on herself first before she can have a man.

Gunther’s actions today are the smartest thing any of these characters have done in this plotline.

Bets doesn’t love herself and before you can love someone else, you have to love yourself. Bets is afraid to trust gunther and afraid to trust herself. She didn’t want love in the relationship, just “likes” and sex. She feels Gunther ruined a good thing by throwing “love” into a lustful situation.

Well, we have one more day of this arc. We will find out if Bets runs to Gunther or find Gunther at home alone or Bets arguing with Tiff about why she didn’t run after Gunther. And Bets? Your excuses so far have been lame. Are you trying to convince Gunther or yourself? Convince yourself that you had a legitimate reason to ghost Gunther?

Good for Gunther. He got fed up with all the drama and the angst, and he just wants out!

And Tiff should just shut up. That girl really has watched too many Hallmark movies. (I would say she’s read too many Harlequin romances, but I don’t think Tiff’s much of a reader.)

Dang – Tiffany had a pair of Jacks – but tried to play them like Aces. I had hoped she could slowly wet nurse these two back together.

Mmm mmm mmm. Not a surprise, given Gunther’s raised eyebrow at the end of yesterday’s strip.

Still, Gunther said he loved Bets and wanted to stay together on Wednesday. Now he finds out that love is sometimes hard and he walks out. Gunther may be better off without Bets, but I don’t think he is better off having done it this way. Rather than stand up for himself and “fight” for a healthy relationship, he would rather forfeit and walk out. What will he do the first time his next relationship hits its first snag?

Budding true love is terrifying after a life of insecurities and toxic relationships.

This is just another step in Gunther’s development. He’s come a long way with women and relationships, but that doesn’t mean forcing something to work is a good thing.

Bets, don’t let your cowardice do the talking again. That’s how you keep losing guys like Gunther. Trust me, I should know. Screw the knuckleheads here who think you’re an abuser; they clearly never experienced being used and abused to the point of having severe trust issues. But Gunther is the first step to healing. Listen to the blonde woman and GO!!!

Tiffany and Bets are now on the same page. Both are passionate because love is tough and worth a fight. Gunther can’t take it anymore. GO BETS! RUN AND TALK TO HIM! He’s confused and sad now. And if Bets doesn’t, TIFFANY! YOU GO!!!

To continue on my snark from yesterday; Tiffany is still sounding like she’s channeling Bernice and her textbooks. What the two of them know about love won’t even fill one of Tiffany’s tea cups.

Gunther has finally had enough. Good for him. Let Bets find some other guy to boss around and bully. He knows Bets’ reasoning is BS. The only thing she’s afraid of is not getting enough attention on her social media accounts.

I have the feeling that all of this will somehow end up bringing Gunth and Tiff closer…

So, lemme guess. Today, Gunther just walked. Tiff, God bless her, is trying to help her friend. Tomorrow, Bets gets up and walks in the other direction. Sunday we concentrate yet again on Luann’s dirty room. Monday we’re back to a different arc.

Good choice Gunther. A person unwilling to provide emotional support, who sucks energy and never contributes, who requires you to chase them to keep them in your life is ultimately not what you need in your life. No matter how good they look in a Starfleet uniform.

We are actually at a MGTOW moment, here. Some may see that Gun views going incel as the safer play. At the moment, it sure is. Romance with Bets means drama.

It’s Tiffany who will pursue Gunther. In time, that will be relationship drama, too, as will be LuJack. It all leads back to this strip’s analog of the blue French horn; Gunther’s middle school obsession with Luann. It will make sense again, some day.

Since when did Tiffany become an expert on love? To my knowledge she has never really been in a relationship.

I’m kind of with tiff at this point. betts admitted she’s afraid but she played too hard to get.

Smartest Move Gunth’s made in a while.Bets understands the “pain” of leaving and would rather inflict it on others than risk having it inflicted on her. That she’s claiming to do so out of love… well that’s just stupid, cause instead of “avoiding” that pain, you’re guaranteeing it.

Honestly if she really loves him, she’s got a lot to make up for. If nothing else all Tiff’s efforts should at least prove to the G Man that he’s worthy of love.

I haven’t read through all 200(!) comments at the time I posted this, but I do agree with a few of them: Tiffany DID Gunther a favor. He would always be wondering when Bets was going to “break” again and leave to get “things together”. She is broken when it comes to relationships, and will always be until she deals with it (therapy? Something else?).

Gunther on the other hand needs an equal, not a “lead”. He would have been disappointed and possibly damaged in this relationship. They don’t ALL end like the movies. ;-).

My personal experience with a gal or two like this Bets (I eventually married happily and have two awesome kids) a good guy like Gunther leaving her is the wake up call she needs to keep trying. I’m not saying they’ll last a month, or Bets will stop doing annoying vlogs etc, but Gunther is someone whom she is actually attracted to, and fears a deeper connection. At some point, she knows if she doesn’t want to die alone, she has to take the leap. The sooner she takes the leap the better.

As for Gunther, he’s 100% right to walk away. He has also had his heart broken with Rosa and not sure if he wants to work so hard for a relationship twice in a row. The relationship may have given him confidence with a cool, strong woman to know what NOT to look for in the next one. That’s the way life works. Everybody will learn from this for the next relationship if this one doesn’t work out. Good luck to both of them whatever the outcome.

Maybe I’m from a different time, but most guys I knew would have stood up, told Tiff to shut up, read Betts the riot act, told them both to stop wasting his time, told them both to perform an anatomically impossible act, and walked out. “I forfeit” is a pretty weak option.

I hope on Saturday that Betts runs after Gunther because I think they make a nice couple. What is in store next? Staying tuned!

This the a classic misdirection arc with meat for the anti-Bets crowd and thin hope for those of us constituting the minority of pro-Bets and Gunther. One thing is that Tiffany is orchestrating this romance in her mind, but is the opposite of what Gun and/or Bets need. She is scared of commitment, he is apparently impatient of the “game” being played. Tomorrow maybe might have an answer. I’m still waiting.

If you go back and look at the comics from June 24 through today, you may notice that while Bets offers a 2 word apology to Gunther for leaving him alone in the dark then ghosting him for a month, but has NOT ONCE asked Gunther how he was doing or what he was feeling. Everything has been about Bets, what she fears or wants or expects.

Zero consideration for the guy who proved his worth long ago.

Even now, Bets is not willing to make the commitment, but wants to put conditions on the relationship, things she expects Gunther to take on or deal with but no responsibility to Bets for making Gunther feel wanted and appreciated.

No wonder Gunther has decided he should walk away.

Yesterday, I said there was no guarantee here, but was hoping … Guess that’s not permitted around here.

Gunther made a choice here and said, ‘I’m not playing anymore.’ – Now likely, the best option here, for him.

… ‘I’m not playing anymore.’ …Probably not a bad idea … In more than one respect.

Oh please don’t let them make up tomorrow. Bets declared her love, explained she has fears, Tiffany tells them love is worth fighting for and Gunther – whimpy whiny immature little mamas boy Gunther – chickens out. Bets deserves better. All she did was be honest. Aside from being a little doting baby than can be manipulated (and his sewing skills), Gunther really has nothing to offer in a relationship.

That was not what I was expecting. Bets, that is how you break up. Face to face, not ghosting for weeks, please take note and remember this for your next break up.

Do I think they love each other? Yes, I do. I just hope Bets does not chase after Gunther, and if she does, I hope he continues to walk off. Gunther, you deserve better. Bets is someone Gunther needs socially, but not intimacy. Stay friends, go trek together and hang out as friends. Your a nice guy, but the majority of women don’t want that. They want the bad boys. Find a girl that will appreciate that you are a nice guy.

Both need time to process all of this … all of this. I still like Bets and hope this isn’t then end of her. Gunther got what he needed from this, an answer. But I am not sure if Bets got what she needed out of this. Between the two, Bets has the most to learn from all of this.

Tiffany, both Bets and Gunther need an honest friend. So sit down, give Bets her refund and apologize like you said you would and just talk to her as a friend.

Know when to hold ‘em and know when to fold ‘em. Indeed!It was good Tiffany got them together. Gunther realizes how Bets was manipulating him. Bets seemed to acknowledge her fears. I think she will realize she messed what could have been a good relationship.At this point Tiffany should stop. If Bets still wants whatever money Tiff did or did not take refunded and an apology, give them and let her go.

I feel for Bets. Easy to forfit when your not loosing much. Gunth, you got the closure you wanted. Bets, you apperently didn’t get the refund Gunthers friend owes you & you want. I just want to mention that I find it interesting that so many of the people who now hate Bets in this scenario have decided to keep using her IMO silly nickname for her possibly ex-boyfriend, “Gun”.

I wish I thought Gunther had grown a backbone in all this, but I really think he just hates fighting, no matter who is doing it. Keep on walking, Gunther. Keep on walking. And Bets? First panel—-Neither Bets nor Tiff go chasing after Gunther. They just stare after him as he walks away.

Second panel——Tiff and Bets turn and look at each other.

Well, Greg doesn’t drag on these arcs that long, so things will come to a conclusion tomorrow, I think.

I KNOW Bets won’t want to sit and chat with Tiffany (sorry folks, there’s no Easter Bunny, no Batman, and no refunds from Tiffany), and she’s hardly likely to run after Guns since that would be following Tiff’s advice. So I expect we will see Bets show up at Gun’s place and ask if they can talk, and Gunther – a la Quinn when he broke up with Luann, will say something along the lines of ’there’s nothing more to say. Good luck and goodbye’.

… and somewhere in his office, Greg Evans will mark another relationship shot down in his comic strip, because if you think about it, that’s what Evans does. He’s the Terminator of Relationships, just ask Luann/Berniece/Gunther etc.

Bets perspective (as far as she knows): I was tricked by Gunthers friend into coming here to fulfil Gunthers need for closure. I was tricked out of $300 by the same friend. Who Gunther is not standing up to. I don’t have family/a support system for my finances. Gunther and Tiff do. So yes, money is a priority for me. What happens when we need to buy a house? Have joint checking accounts? Can I trust this guy alone with Tiffany? Is this devotion to me or is he just a tool for any pritty lady? I just confessed my trust issues and Gunther is doing nothing to reassure me?? Bets may have well earned trust issues but she really can’t “work on them” with this crew. This isn’t really a need for therapy situation.

I’d give her one last chance- because unlike most of the female characters, she seemed to have a libido. But one more flight and she’s out.

Tiff got G&B together, and then she should have left them alone. She has no credible relationship advice to offer, since she has never been in a relationship. Just bad writing as is a month long ghosting to begin with. I hope Gunther realizes that he deserves better and accepts this thing with Bets is over. We have all endured too much melodrama, and it needs to stop.

Tiffany is certainly unclear on the concept.
