Okay, I’ll say it. Toni’s fantasy Shannon behaves more like an eager to please domestic than a child. Even a well behaved one. I know Noah has a less responsible approach to child rearing. But if this is how Toni sees child rearing, I’m beginning to doubt both of their qualifications for parenthood.

Nope. I’d not want a kid like this dream Shannon. Gives me the creep.

Delusional fantasy?

So Brad is seeing, in his dream what life be like with Shannon.

I still say that Brad and Toni’s idea of an “ideal kid” is coming across as Bernice. ;-)

i hope we get to see what the other characters look like curious to see how the guest artist will render luann and bernice . ohh and puddles.

i’ve been thinking about this arc while glopping catfood into a bowl, and concluded that AlterShannon is just as over the top as G+KShannon. so, maybe a little irony / satire / whatever is operating here? with some really good artwork, too. i’ve snarked about stepfordish characters but what else would be Shannon’s antithesis? and both versions ore about equally annoying.

Are the Evans’ on vacation? Let’s move on from this version of Mike Doonesbury’s Summer Dream.

When Toni finally wakens from her dream, I wonder what damage Shannon would already have done!

Why is Shannon addressing Toni as Mommy? Either the Artist is not quite tuned into the strip or I missed something.

In some ways dream Shannon is just as um um annoying yes that’s word… as annoying as Gregs version.

Now this truly has become a fantasy. Imagine when GnK resume their strip, Toni snaps out of a dream.

This Shannon is pretty annoying, but has no trace of the banshee we’d ordinarily see.

If they ever get around to actually having a child, they’re going to be extremely disappointed.

Cannot believe how many people do not know this is a daydream.

It sounds like I am the only one who sees the humor in this arc and is enjoying it.

The universe has broken.

Saccharine. I feel diabetes coming on.

I’m more and more scared of this perfect Shannon of Toni’s fantasies. It’s obvious that her future children will never be like this! I would like to see Brad’s fantasies about how Shannon could be like with him as a father. Probably more like the real Shannon, just a bit less turbulent.

Sorry. Not enjoying this.

It could happen. She does tend to be enthusiastic.

Brad and Toni sure have a weird fantasy of what Shannon would be like if they had raised her. A 6-year-old girl version of Felix Unger. (The Odd Couple, don’t you know.)

Now, this is going too far. Now a 6 year old daughter that can do a triple full out backflip is perfectly believable.

We’re getting over the top with this fantasy.

Besides, why aren’t Toni and Brad’s work clothes all firefighter uniforms?

I am only here to criticize this cartoonist and this nauseating arc. Why is Shannon’s head bigger than the adults? Why does she have more body mass than Toni? Why does she kick up dust everywhere she goes? Why does Brad have skunk hair? This guy Jay is so un-relatable. He has actually managed to make Shannon (now including Toni and Brad) more annoying than ever before. Why Greg and Karen turned him loose on Luann is beyond me, but this is a perfect example of a cartoon than I would never look at or follow.

OK. Enough of this.

Maybe Toni delaying parenthood is a good thing.

So, this child (not necessarily named Shannon by the way) in a comic strip within a comic strip is taken to a child psychologist who tells Brad and Toni that they have completely destroyed the child’s mind and that she is hopelessly obsessive compulsive. The real comic strip Brad wakes up and runs off to get a vasectomy, returns home and tells Toni, "Now we can enjoy doing what young couples do without fear of creating either a Shannon monster or an insanely “perfect” child."

Oh no! Dream Shannon is anal-retentive mixed with OCD!

Good thing neither artist reads these comments. Most of these are far from kind and not at all constructive. Twitter on GoComics? Ugh!. Try reading Luann Fan. Lots of background that might make one pause before running a steamroller over a comic, which by the way, is about fictional characters. Not real. Yelling at them won’t make them change. So reflective of out times. Sigh…

I like this artist’s style and take on Brad and Toni and Shannon. Maybe this can spin off and Jay could do a seperate comic. Luanne has too many characters and story lines – which go unfinished – spinning some off would be a solution for me.

No more Red Bull for Shannon! Wait, no more AFTER she does MY closet :-D

I think the Shannon pendulum has swung 180°. This Shannon is also annoying and out of control. Enroll her in a sport, maybe track as she’s good at running. ;-))

This is Toni’s dream. It’s a response to her fear of “chaos”. She described Jonah’s life (and kids for that matter) as a “chaotic mess”. So her dream is one of “order” and in her dream, her child is running around organizing everything…. no “chaos”. Jonah is a free wheeling creative guy; Shannon is turning out like him (no doubt). Their lives growing up (Toni &Jonah) were “chaotic”; Toni essentially had to take care of Jonah. This dream of the child Toni would raise is a response to all of this….. but yes overdone, for sure, to the point of being “nauseating”.

I really hate the new artwork.

Shannon’s not necessarily a bad kid like some commenters have suggested, she just have a lot of energy without a real proper outlet to release it. She spends all her time around adults whether than kids her own age, so her behavior seemingly comes off as unruly. At least that’s how I see it.

I actually think this art is PERFECT for a daydream sequence. It’s so over the top. The art is clean and expressive. I think this artist has a real future in comics and I wish him lots of luck!!!

I know that we have a guest artists, but I’ve been interpreting the different style as telling us that it’s a dream sequence.

Imaginary Shannon acts like those kids they rescued from slavery imposed by their influencer mom and her psyco best friend.

After the garage and attic, Shannon will attempt what could be her biggest challenge of all — Luann’s bedroom! d;o)

She is like a clone of Bizzy Buzz Buzz from Snuffy Smith and Barney Google.
