Of course Stef would be the one to spoil things for everyone. And people complain about Bernice being a bad character; Stef’s even worse.

Once again the Evans’ no-drama policy reduces an interesting story into a non-event.

So Steffi is the one who does the ‘big reveal’, supposedly showing Gunther and Luann as a couple – not Tiffany. Interesting. I guess Steffi figures she’ll use Bets and her rage at the ‘stolen’ Gunther to make sure that Luann isn’t around to steal Kip away! This is not a ‘toon anymore. It’s a soap opera. I could never get into those. I just hope this soaper doesn’t end with Luann in a wedding dress…

I’m wondering what’s going to happen with Stef. Actually, I’m hoping she’s going to be written out of the strip.

I see two possible scenarios coming from this.

1. The morning after the party, Gunther gets an angry blog post from Bets. Telling him she never wants to see his cheating @$$ again (popular choice with many readers, I’m sure).

2. (My personal favorite) Bets calls Tiff, and demands to know what’s going on. Tiff asks what’s wrong, Bets sends her Stef’s text message, and Tiff finally gives Stef the beatdown everybody has been wanting.

I’m going to skip this strip for the next week, it’s just gonna get stupid.

Kinda disappointing that it looks like Bets is going to course change her whole, “bursting onto the scene only to find Gunther with Luann” thing. I always prefer things to be as exciting as possible.

It’ll be funny if Bets doesn’t assume Luann’s costume isn’t like 70% padded out and she thinks she got work done in the time while she was on the convention tour.

Ouch and with one click of her app, Stef has likely initiated a whole lot of trouble for the G-Man, perhaps the equivalent of WWIII from his POV. Now the ball is in Bets’ court. Does she leave immediately and cancel her podcast or does she enter and see this for herself and demand some answers. Of course, the second option will put her number of clicks and views into the stratosphere.

You can count on this strip to NEVER have a happy resolution. (Except in the possible case of Toni and Brad).

As old Luann1212 is oft wont to opine “GNK are known for pulling switcheroos!” Well they really pulled a doozy today. Lu\eave it to Steffie Bird to pull the plug on all of us and ruin the surprise meet and greet we were all expecting. I have a feeling that Bets may fold up her tent and not even show at the party now.

What a dramatic turn of events! Where will GnK take the Gunther/Bets/Luann relationship triangle now!?!?

Bets disappointed to see Gunther accompanied by Luann, or disappointed not to get likes for showing her followers the happy ending she had planned?

You know, everyone assumes Stef is doing this to be nasty, but it actually would prevent Bets from becoming an internet spectacle. A couple years ago there was a much debated clip of a girl surprising her boyfriend who went to a different college with a unexpected visit only for him to be sitting next to a girl with a lot of friends and it caused a bunch of strangers on the internet to make assumptions about the boyfriend (basically assuming that cause he was next to a girl he was definitely cheating). Yeah, it was a whole thing. Stef kinda prevented Bets from ending up like that girl, so it’s a little better than if she ran in there and ended up with an unexpected girl on Gunther’s arm.

I don’t think Bets was going to get back with Gunther. That would be too easy. I think she married some Canadian guy she met on her trip.

So Bets is basically being childish. And Stef is in on it or being used,

I’m not sure that Bets recognizes Luann in a Dolly Parton costume. If this wasn’t a (sort of) family strip, Bets would barge in with some choice words about Luann. I don’t know what tomorrow’s strip will show, but it won’t be that. I’m not so sure if Bets will go in and confront Gunther or drive off toward the morning sun.

Bets is really annoying. I don’t feel bad.

I hope this works out for Bets and Gunther.

Bets assumes that Gunther will always be available. Even if Stef was wrong, Bets was also wrong to make such assumptions.

We will now stall while the artist looks for his crystal ball. What next?

Imagine how this could have been avoided if Bets talked to Gunther rather than her followers. No communication left Gunther to process the breakup.

Yesterday I commented about Bet’s delusional thought-balloon. Today, that balloon is exploded a bit earlier than might be expected — by Stefanie’s mischievous gossip-posting instead of by Bets entering the party and seeing for herself that Gunther is not merely sitting in a chair sadly moping and waiting for her to appear to make him ecstatically overjoyed. One could see a benefit in this revelation: Bets now has a choice to think about her response. She could drive away; and pretend to know nothing about it. She could compose herself to enter and see for herself what is the real situation, considering that Stef is not the most reliable storyteller. Bets could enter and respond calmly, and perhaps even turn the situation around completely by giving Gunther the big hug that she previously envisioned. She might even recognize Luann as a long-time platonic friend of Gunther’s and thank her publicly for keeping him from withdrawing into antisocial isolation. She has the opportunity for all this by benefit of a few minutes’ forethought, instead of reacting blindly to her disappointment that her vision of their reunion was unrealistic.

I’m a little curious about what she was going to say in the second panel, but I’m sure it had something to do with sweeping grandly into the Manse and doing her self-promoting junk by showing her personal Online Entourage the wonderful party thrown in HER honor. There are a few different ways this could go. Could the “user” no longer have a “usee”? As always, time will tell.

I hope that photo alone isn’t enough to make Bets go away, rather that it prepares her to enter the Farrell mansion with a sense of reality and WITHOUT doing a live streaming. But that it would have been Stef the one posting them… I wonder if she did it on purpose, knowing that Bets would see the photo, or if it was posted without thinking too much. It sounds like most of Bets followers have correctly guessed what she is about to do. But no one at the party seems to know, except Tiffany, who she told. So no one at the party is following Bets right now.

It is kind of pathetic that people have such empty lives that they would hang onto every word that Bets says. Her life is not that interesting. I guess there really are people like that in the world.

First of all, she’s live streaming a SURPRISE! Wouldn’t she worry Gunther might be watching her channel while they are apart? And this seems like a concerted effort by Tiff and Stef to break up Gunter’s relationship. LuAnn isn’t malicious, just clueless.

I was wondering why Stef would send an incriminating photo of Gunther to Bets. When I woke up this morning an idea came to me. The assumption is that Bets paid for her fourth of the quad before going on the road trip. Since Bets had switched rooms with Tiffany that would have meant the Bets and Stef were now roommates. And with Bets gone Stef had the room all to herself and Kip. So if Bets returns to school Stef won’t be able to have Kip over all the time. Thus she has a motive to discourage Bets from returning.

These comments are funnier than the strip but… Steph is just a flake. My guess – Gunnie want to go back to South America and chill out with Rosa for while or until these toons figure themselves out. I did see a bit of sunshine in the comics this week when the little grey kitten, Punk, was lovin’ on Les for a minute. There is hope in the funnies. 9 Chickweed Lane and Dick Tracy is worth a read also.

So many fans think (hope) that Bets will leave. Maybe, but I don’t think so. Remember, this arc began with Gunther showing up in a taxi all broken-hearted. (Remember how many of you thought there was some meaning in who the taxi driver was?) Gunther finally shared that he was unhappy that Bets had decided to separate so she could continue with her “influencing” persona. Later, Gunther made the very mature comment that he wouldn’t try and influence her to return until she wanted to. Bets showing up proves the adage, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder”, so she won’t run away now. Steph seems evil but is one of those people whose self-esteem is so low the only happiness they seem to get is bringing other people down.

Perfect excuse for Bets to exit stage right and roll the credits on her story line. She was annoying. Gun was her pod cast prop for her “I Love Me” life.

I wonder why Bets is coming home now? The school semester is half over and the next one does not start for 2 months. She has no place to live except the van and no activities to do. She should have warned Gunther she was coming home if she still thinks they are together.

Get back in the van and keep driving.

Ooh, I can see it now. Stef and Bets VS Luann and Tiffany in a no holds barred cat fight. The bad blood between Tiff and Stef has been simmering since Kip’s summer mansion stay and Bets will want a swipe at Luann for taking the spotlight off of her. Tiff will stand up for her frenemy against Stef for starting drama at her party. Let’s do it…!

Although I don’t like Stefi doing her typical thoughtless action, I hope this may be a wake-up call for Bets to realize that she’s been taking Gunther for granted for a long, long time! Gunther seems to be the only one in their relationship that puts any concern into it. Bets just goes her merry way and presumes that Gunther will be sitting around waiting for her. Even yesterday’s strip actually shows Bets imagining Gunther literally sitting around depressed waiting for her, with him only happy when she shows up. The thought made Bets happy, which IS NOT what a good partner wishes for their mate. Apparently that is what she wants Gunther’s life to be though. If Bets doesn’t shape up, I’m joining the crowd that thinks the two should break up. Gunther can do better.

I will say, Luann has some pretty nice curves here.

Stef did Bets a favor by sending her the photo. Bets can react in private before she decides what to do. Her reaction will not be on the internet for everyone to see and make fun of.

There are so many people like Bets out there that document their everyday life on social media it is just amazing, but what’s more amazing is the amount of people who follow them and pay them money for various reasons.

This could lead to Kip breaking up with Stef, for doing something so mean.

Insecure Bets: cut the loss, high tail it home, and weep yourself to o sleep about man’s infidelity.

Smart Bets: take a deep breath, go inside, and investigate. If Stef is right, want to win him back?

Is anyone ready to make a guess, in any kind of detail, about what will happen next?

Will Bets drive away, or will she go in to the party?

If she goes to the party will she be dressed as she is, or will she be in costume, for example as Uhura or Alita [2019/12/30] or some other character that’s been sold as an action figure? Will she wear something that covers her face and hands so that she can scope out the scene unrecognized? Will she be livestreaming or, having seen Stefani’s message, will she have have her camera off or just recording privately?

Will she find Gunther in an innocuous position or doing something that could raise suspicion? If she confronts/questions him, will she be calm or hot-tempered? Will she immediately trust Gunther’s claim that he and Luann are not a couple, or will she remain suspicious? If she remains suspicious, will anyone speak up in support of Gunther, and if so, who? Luann? Tiffany? Dez (Bets’s old Camp Buckaroo buddy)? All of the above? Everyone in the room, except possibly Stef, simultaneously shouting “They’re not a couple!!”?

If she drives away, what will she tell her fans about the “huge surprise” she promised? Will we see reactions from fans, and if so, what will they be? Will she make accusations about Gunther, and if so, will she text/email/phone/… him privately, or will she vent publicly? How will Gunther react? By chasing after her? By deciding he’s well rid of her? By sitting around moping? If he decides he’s well rid of Bets, will he reconsider trying to be more than friends with Luann? Will he figure out that Tiffany may have changed her attitude since 2015/08/08?

Some commenters seem to think this strip is soooo predictable. I wonder how many are ready to prove it. Personally, I’m quite unsure just how things will play out, except that there are a few commenters who I think will predictably say that the story stinks no matter what happens.

That looks bad but she really doesn’t know what’s going on from a picture.

First off, did she even recognize who that was in the first place? Surely if she knew that was Luann, I mean c’mon. The reaction should’ve been awwww, they look cute and nothing more. I was going to ignore this one, but geez Greg and Karen hate their characters. If we are to take today’s strip as presented, Bets is not smart enough to remember Steff is a known liar (remember the false accusation about Tiff ‘stealing’ her ring?), nor willing to trust Guns, whom she SHOULD know very well. Bets is also shown as being so vain that she genuinely expected Guns to be miserable unless and until she showed up, and further that her first love is the attention for her vlog.

As for Guns, we are supposed to believe he is unable to speak for himself, decide who he is or what he wants.

Steffy is cast as a loathsome gossip who enjoys ruining relationships for no apparent reason.

Just last week we were shown Les as a slimy perv making moves on TIffany and Luann. As if we had not seen him grow.

Luann is cast as someone interested in any available male, plus moderately interested in Guns as well. As if she doesn’t respect boundaries herself.

I mean, G&K have gone all out to trash everyone in their current arc.

Disgusting.

It doesn’t matter who, but, someone should go in, and punch that useless stef right in the snot locker.

I hope Bets does go in and confront Gun & Lu otherwise the comic strip wouldn’t proceed without some sort of resolve. The “are they or aren’t they” elephant in the room needs to be discussed. I have a high dislike for both Bets and Stef and I just want them both to leave.
