Although some people are fond of dissing Bets, I actually feel sorry for her. If Gunther and Luann are in a compromising position—or he’s still yelling “We’re not a couple!”—Bets will see what’s happening and have a negative reaction. She may scream at Gunther, cry and run out, or ask “What’s going on?” Whatever her reaction is, it won’t be pretty.

This shows what a total prize **** Bets is…an engineered ‘break up’ so she can get more fans and fame by an equally engineered ‘reunion’. Someone should remind her of the number of celebrities who have played this exact game in order to get a free boost for their publicity and had it blow right up in their face.

As much as Gunther has been criticized for hoping her viewership has slumped without him, she’s imagining him as alone and friendless without her. They’re both too immature to actually love another person right now.

Bets is assuming that Gunther will be overjoyed to see her. If I had to guess, that isn’t going to happen. It looks like Gunther is realizing the they weren’t meant to be. I sense that the official break up is about to happen. And it’ll be streamed live on her website.

Uh-oh. I know Gunther is not sitting but he better NOT be happy to see her and hugging her. Bets must be so badly losing her followers for her to do this to Gunther….fooling him into thinking she wants him back when she is doing this for a selfish reason. Hope Luann notices her holding the phone filming the reunion and calls her on it. At least Gunther knows she is losing followers and hopefully his logic remains and kicks in when Bets comes in and hugs him and he sees her filming.

So the breakup was a drama planned by Beta, like a reality show? She seems to have a very altered perception of reality.

So she knows he’s at a costume party but doesn’t imagine he’s dressed up as anything?

I hope this isn’t the start of another one of Greg’s drag out misunderstandings between lovers. Let Gunther sweep Bets off to one of the mansion’s out of the way rooms and disappear for the rest of the evening, or week, or year.

I cringed at Bets fantasy having as much (if not more) emphasis on how she envisions livestreaming her reunion with Gunther to a bunch of strangers on her vlog and getting a powerful dopamine fix when the likes start pouring in…. If she’s dreaming about that, it’s a sign of her being addicted to it. I mean… she’s not even fully hugging him in in this dream, she’s aiming the camera to catch the hug so she can livestream it to everyone. ಠ_☉

If this story were going in a direction of Bets having to kick her social media addiction it would actually be a decent idea. I know people in my life who literally were unable to refrain from oversharing on facebook or instagram and it really damaged their relationships because the need for validation from strangers was a bigger priority than they were.

I do have to give compliments to the art in this strip though. I especially like the dreamy haze in her fantasy and the blending of her idealized version of events in the panel. As misguided as her intentions are it’s kind of cute how she imagined it being just that easy. And panel 1 is pretty nice too with Tiff’s house and Bets streaming on her phone within Ruby.

Bets only thinks about one person herself.

So Betts might see Gunther and Luann an inch apart while Gunther is yelling, “We are not a couple.” Bets assumes he is referring to her and him. After all, Gunther and Luann look like a couple. Whatever the scenario, it won’t be good for Betts, Gunther, or Luann.

Just for more likes, NOT because she misses Gunther. seriously GUN DROP THIS SACK OF CRAP

Wow, is Bets going to be in for a rude wakening or what? Like Live2Read above, I kind of feel sorry for her as this is almost guaranteed to work out badly especially if Gunther is still going on about “not being a couple and not being on a date with Luann”. Bets might realize that things are going south if everyone stops talking and give her a nervous stare/ glance of pity. To quote Gomer Pyle: “Surprise, surprise, surprise!”. I just hope the G-Man is not holding hands with Luann or posing for more photos with her when Bets makes her entrance.

She drives off and does her own thing and expects the world and Gunther to be waiting for her when she gets back?

She is picturing him sitting morose and alone at a costume party with his friends. He is not dressed up in costume in her fantasy even though she knows fashion/cosplay is a special interest of his and this is a “dolloween” party.

This to me shows Bets’ self-centeredness. She thinks that when she leaves the room, he ceases to have a reason to exist. She either hasn’t bothered to listen to him talk about his interest in sewing and costumes or she doesn’t think he would pursue it outside of her, even though he did so before they met.

Bets is not unredeemable, and the pairing of self-centeredness with being an influencer is definitely tired, trite/stereotyped writing. It’s the non-influencer, non-social media tells that really show how she’s self-centered, like this. The problem isn’t that she’s going to livestream the reunion, even though that seems to be set up as a “gotcha” against Bets. The problem is that her image of Gunther is that he has no volition, hobbies, friends, or happiness outside of her. It’s compounded here that she should know better in this setting. She’s going to a party where she knows he is, a party around one of his particular interests, and she knows he has longtime friends there. Her expectation is foolish. She should be smarter than this.

The question is, who will be more surprised?

Let me get this straight. Bets went off to have fun, but she expects Gunther to not have any fun?

I think Bets really misses Gun and was looking forward to a happy reunion.

That’s why I hate social media personalities like the character of Bets.They’re like the Hiltons and Kardashians of their arena.IMO, they are nothing more than attention who@#$ who cannot function without an audience and forced drama.

I’m surprised Bets, the internet-famous cosplayer, missed an opportunity to wear a fancy costume to a Halloween party with a specified doll theme. I’d have thought she’d do something less well-known (so people ask her who she is so she can talk a bit about the costume) like Rainbow Brite, Jem, or Polly Pocket.

I guess if Greg and Karen wanted to play to this arc’s theme about jilted love she could go as a voodoo doll with a pin in the heart (since she might not get the hearts on her livestream?).

I’m not sure how this will pan out. Bets is pretty smart and should have a handle on all the circumstances involved. But I’m gonna save my money on this roll of the dice.

My expectations are low. That way, by Saturday I won’t be disappointed.

Bets seems far more interested in clicks and upvotes than in Gunther. Caution! Drama ahead!

In panel 2 it shows thought circles. I think that’s what she is “hoping” will happen. She will be surprised by what the reality will show.

Bets imagines a sweet teenage movie situation, but reality is different. However, I hope the ending will be the same she dreams of. Not her running away thinking that, after only two months, Gunther has forgotten her and now he’s with his beautiful childhood friend Luann. From Bets’ imagination we can see that she still loves him, but also that she’s needs more and more of compliments by her followers. Let’s hope this situation helps her stop that need. Especially if she and Gunther get back together; but a part of the fans will continue to tell her he’s a cheater, the other that he did well and everyone will only talk about this, forgetting about the cosplays.

I so much want Bets not to win this time … Poor Gunth, beeing always correct has to decide whether he is obliged to Luann for the evening or to Bets due to the fact that he officially never broke up …

Is there any possible way they could make Bets more unlikeable?

Funny frames today. Bets conjuring up a made-for-video scenario in her mind, not realizing the big surprise will be on her when she sees Gunther not exactly sitting alone sulking. Some critics are complaining this arc is going on too long, but it’s really not. The build-up has had dry spots, but has led up to the crescendo this week.

Hilarity is about to ensue. LOL

With all the “We’re nota couple!” to everyone, Gunt might be a bit cranked to see Bets.

If Gunther can convince her there is nothing “going on”, there is the harsh reality that he can have a life without her, that there are meaningful people in his life beside her. I think that be the bigger wedge.

Greg and Karen are really trashing Bets here. As in, she is HAPPY to imagine that Guns would be sitting alone and dejected, with no joy until SHE appears?

This last trip down memory lane with Leann is certainly going to complicate any reconciliation between Bets and Gunther. The way things are set up this can play out in many ways. There nay be another split up; permanent or temporary. There may be a reconciliation but with a change in the dynamic. Or, Gunther may cave and return to the status quo. I can hardly believe it will be the latter.

And where does it leave Luann at the end of it all?

I wonder if Bets will be wearing a costume and initially go unnoticed at the party….then she’ll see LuAnn and Gunter together. The question is, will she slink out unnoticed, or make her appearance known showing Gunther as a bad guy on her media app??

For once, I agree with Bets. I am gonna love seeing her humiliated in front of all of her followers when she walks in and makes everything about herself. I don’t like how they’re portraying her as being very mercenary. I think bets cares for gunther more than just as a way to up her view count.

Expectation and reality are two different things

Because heaven forbid she experience a personal moment without streaming it to an audience. Bets is about as deep as a birdbath.

Someone made a very interesting point. Panel 2 shows Bets’ expectation that while she was off exploring her vlog adventures she expected Gunther to be home alone pining away for her eventual return. So she expected Gunther to suffer distress during the separation while she (apparently) had none.

Reading further. She expects to profit from the reconciliation via her vlog subscribers. That’s a pretty crass attitude.

Does Bets even know Luann? Because I predict there will be blood…

I think both Gunther and Bets have this all planned out for their viewers. Maybe even planning a jealous confrontation using Luann.

Should I stay for the week (knowing Team Luann will find a way to stretch this out that long), or should I just come back when the wind has carried the fallout away from ground zero?

Looks to me she really does not care about him , she just wants to please her fans. It’s a shame, he really cares for her, he needs to let her go.

Bets will maybe experience that people eventually move on without her if she decides to move out of their lives to do her own thing.

The character “Bets” may be dreaming but we are the ones experiencing a temporary shared hallucination. We go into a cartoon world that doesn’t exist, give advice, relate to characters, laugh at Luann’s over padded bra, and come back out to reality.

So Bets expects Gunth to be all miserable without her. She’ll come in and see him and Luann together and happy. Bets is going to flip and break up with Gunthie live online.

For a while, I thought this was Gun’s dream come true. But, then I saw that this happy scenario is in Bett’s mind from panel 2. How will it turn out if, instead of Gun being alone on the sofa, he’s with Luann?

I think there will be more than one surprise in store!

So, Bets is imagining that Gunther went to a party with friends but since she isn’t there all he’ll do is sit in a corner and mope, while her surprise arrival will serve to bring joy back into his life. Pretty clearly shows that she thinks Gunther is dependent on her for his life to have meaning, and is nothing without her. I am REALLY hoping she gets a massive face slap from reality over this one.

Note that Bets’ imagined scenario shows her Livestreaming the whole thing …. :-(

Well, hasn’t this just been an interesting walk around the block? And we are right back where we started. Interesting.

Well, now we know where Betts’ priorities are. I don’t know if she thinks she can keep Gunthie’s love by using him as a prop in her social media existence, but I think he may have had enough and will force her to choose between a free wheeling on line documented fun fest, or settling down with a dedicated Mama’s boy. Judging by the way this arc has been going, her career as an influencer will hit a major snag, and Gunthie’s application to the monastery will be accepted. Unless, of course, Luann intervenes and in her usual fashion makes it worse.

Bets is in for a big let down.

This has been the second time Bets has somewhat “ghosted” Gunther. She’s coming back on HER terms (this time, after “finding herself”), not his. Good grief I wished he would just dump her, he’ll always be a door mat for Bets. Marriage won’t make this any better, in fact, it will worsen.
