Oh, Annie? I believe you have that backwards. The winners are inside, and the loser is outside.
.
Also, make sure you guys get the keys or fob to the yellow sportscar. She can walk to a lighted street corner in her high heels. Someone will pick her up.
.
I just love the finality of that door slamming shut! Shame her finger wasn’t in it…
Well Dang, that was satisfying! No doubt she’ll turn up again like a bad penny, but hopefully we’ll get a break from her for a little while, at least for now. And so will they.
“And mark my words, you’ll be sorry for this!”. Is Ann just spontaneously prattling off some face-saving bluster, or has she ever been vindictive before?
Please please PLEASE let this be her final appearance in the strip. After all, she’s worked her way through the entire cast of the strip, so who is there left to be suckered by her? (G&K, please don’t take that as a challenge)
She’s leaving, without a suitcase, or any of her designer clothes/shoes, or any of her papers (passport, bank statements, financial records, etc.)? Just the contents of that tiny purse?
Was she maintaining a second domicile, just in case Tom ditched her?
Good to see her (lol) giving them one last chance to kiss her butt and apologize! So, as I said yesterday, some people had a tendency to overthink, and overestimate Ann’s power to file frivolous lawsuits for any little thing.
If she’s leaving her designer duds behind, Tiff can call Gun & bets to sell the stuff off now. Earlier, it would have been a bad idea when Ann was calling all the shots, but now… what would Tom want her handbags and gladrags in his house for? All her stuff… OUT THE DOOR!
or her head, okay in this world these days life has sucked major and we know that but this is the best news we’ve gotten for awhile and Greg at least gave us. anyone wonder if her clothes are still outside or did Tiffany pick those up?
Now it’s time to call the accountant(s) and make sure Eiffel can’t skip with the contents of the checking account— and take a look to see if she was writing checks to herself.
I think I speak for everyone when I say FINALLY!?!?!? Also I’m very excited cause this means Tiffany and Les could still happen!!?? Ahhhh I think they would make a cute couple.
Sad part is, I know someone that could be Ann’s teacher. Same thing always happens, they get busted and then blame everyone else for their failures and then goes right back and does it again. Gees, read a book or something.
Ann, you have smarts plus you have a great bod to boot, you must realize this because you LOVE to advertise your girls and your butt. Tom genuinely loved you and wanted to build a life with you, but apparently the only thing you wanted was his wealth and social status. Which i’m sure he would have gladly shared, had you genuinely returned the love he gave you. But not many men will love you if you use sex and a desire to have a family—-as a weapon. Keep living the way you are and the ONLY men you’ll get are immature boys who are lead by their love muscle rather than their heart.
I will not believe that this arc, which has been the comics’ answer to water boarding, is actually over until I see Gunther and Bets at some dorky comic convention.
Glad to see Ann go. Sadly, I think she will be back considering she had moved in there with clothes etc. This made for a more dramatic ending though. Wonder if anything will happen now between Tiff and Les?
Was Ann living there full time? Her coming over to pick up her things could be a bit awkward. Then again Tiff just might enjoy flinging Ann’s personal effect out on to the lawn with any repercussions from her father.
One thing I predicted did kind of come true, which was that Les would have the last word. It was a bit understated, but when even her son condemned her to shameful oblivion it was just the right touch. Finally Tom picked his daughter over the succubus grifter. We will likely start another arc, probably more girl boy relationship (girl girl or boy boy is extremely unlikely, so Gunther and Bets or Luann and (?Jack) or Brad and Toni and baby (?), but the best thing to see is not Ann’s defeat, but Tiffany’s triumph to get her father back.
One disquieting note of the plot – it appears to me the “Ann plot” is ending just a little too triumphantly for Tiffany. Remember the “Dream Season” of the TV show “Dallas”? It was when Pamela discovered the supposedly “dead” Bobby Ewing taking a shower and it was revealed that the whole previous season was “just a dream.” I do hope “Luann” isn’t planning to play this card. Although “Dallas” chugged along for another three seasons the show very rapidly lost a good share of its audience; the same could happen here.
Wow. Given GnK’s history of misdirection I was not really expecting them to give what the readers asked for. I am still or dreading for the other shoes to drop.
So where’s the betting pool on which characters will be featured in the new arc that starts on Monday? What kind of odds can I get on a Bernice-Zebo romance?
With regard to the “Who is Ann Eiffel?” link appearing daily on this web site?
May I point out that in that portrait Ann has the figure of an eighteen year old woman, that Ann has the features and clear complexion of an eighteen year old woman and that Ann has no fashion sense either with regard to her garb or her hairstyle.
We know that she is a match in beauty, at least as drawn, for her current boyfriend’s twenty year old daughter despite having a twenty year old son of her own. We know that she has a brother who she is close to her in age, but who appears to be old enough to be her father.
How can Ann be so indifferent to human aging while also being so indifferent to how humans behave? Perhaps Ann is not, or at least no longer, human?
This is what we needed for once! The bad guy/girls gets what they deserve with no remorse or guilty feelings for doing the right things to get them out of your life! I’m so over the bad guy winning. I hope Les becomes part of the family and feels welcomed for a change. Once he tells his story Tom will defintely have an easier time getting over her.
I love the “works for me” from Les. Les is definitely becoming a more likeable character, definitely not a saint and he is not Mr Congeniality but he is beginning to grow on me. Its like the icing on the cake of a wonderfully entertaining arc. Gotta like that Tom has his arm around Tiff. Maybe they will make up for a lot of lost time now……
“SLAM!!!” Today the most satisfying word in the English language. In fact, that door slammed so hard, I actually felt it. And the beauty of it all is, Ann is depicted getting kicked out with only the clothes on her back. Tiff should sell Ann’s designer clothes and not burn them. Bets can help with that. I’ll go one step further. Tom should hire Bets to tutor Tiffany, if Tiffany remains in college.I’m thinking that next week may be a week of apologies, gratitude, and perhaps “rewards.” And then, hopefully, it’s a long overdue visit with Luann. I look forward to seeing her again. Even if it is only in her messy room.
The question is: “will Tiffany regain her ‘entitlements’ ?” Will Tiffany live in the mansion? Will Leslie Knox and Tiffany “hook-up” ? """Stay tune as the world turns""""
Well, she still has to go back in there to get her stuff….. Is it possible we will never see her again? Somehow, I don’t believe that. The Evanses like to torture their readers.
Ann will be back in a few years for Les’s wedding at the Fuse. Coworkers will be there …TJ Ox Nancy Tiffany. The poor bride will have Ann as a mother-in-law. I wonder how that party would go??
This arc ended so satisfyingly, that even Greg dumps a week of Shannon on us next week, I wouldn’t even mind. It’s always nice to see an Ann Eiffel scheme unravel.
This has got to be the single most satisfying strip, in any comic, that I have ever read. Thank you, Mr. Evans! This has been a long time coming, and it was worth the wait!
Like I’ve been saying all week, hope she doesn’t have access to Tom’s finances or taken much of it already. Plus hope Tom realizes he needs to spend more real time with Tiff and not just hand her $$$$.
Will Tiff start loosing weight since stress, via Ann, was the cause of her weight gain?
Hopefully a new storyline arc will have Luann back as the main character and not a secondary one. And the Ann Eiffel arc was getting tedious and boring.
Ann Eiffel possibly may be written out, but not so completely sure. G&K will still come up with some other controversial character from which to draw criticism. Just look at how much interest Ann Eiffel attracted. There will be either another, or a conflict from within the existing regulars.
Bravo! Finally, Ann has left the building and the lives of these people. Wonder when Tom will figure out how much she cleaned out of his bank account before this?
Does Tom know Les is Anne’s son that she abandoned? I don’t remember if that has ever been addressed. The two ultrasounds are the same and unspoken is Les must be her son but….
I actually let out an audible “whoo-HOOO!!” for that! (woke the wife up) This is a turning point for Tiffany AND Les. She has her dad back, has discovered she’s somewhat self-reliant, and most important…SHE BEAT ANN!! Same for Les. He’s been waiting to give his “mother” some just desserts. Maybe he’ll find some closure, now, and adopt a new attitude. What i’m curious about…who actually slammed the door?! They all had good reason!
So now that it appears that this storyline is wrapped up (unless we have a few more days of Tiffany getting her dorm room back), who will be the center of the next arc?
Satisfactory. Someday, Ann will come back to torment our heroes with other schemes, but today she’s out! Now, I just hope Tiffany doesn’t quickly get back to her spoiled old self, totally self-centered with a single room, no need to work and with endless money to spend. And that Tom will be more in touch with his daughter♡.
I stand corrected! I didn’t think this would go in Tiffany’s favor. I’m still a little weary about a sudden change of heart by Tom, but sure hope not! Been waiting years for Tiff to get any satisfaction!
It’s as though she’s asking all of us! Guessing, since Tom didn’t collect the credit cards, he can cancel them. Major point being she’s gone, at least for now. (Cheer!) Next time we see Tiff and Les this may not even be mentioned. Almost a shame as it’s a dramatic character growth event for all three. And I would like to see the father/daughter situation evolve with Les somewhere in the mix.
Make sure that all of her stuff, (Anything NOT paid for by him) is packed in a box and set outside of the gate. That way she doesn’t have a reason to ever come back.
I love the united front that Tom, Tiffany and Les make here. I suspect Ann will be back, but hopefully not anytime soon. Now back to a few other storylines!
They make her character much too “naive” She is basically a foil for the kids and her behaviors reflect that. She is written like a young teen aged kid. The entire issue I have with her character is just that. She is basically a 13 year old.
I am glad it turned out the way it did, I think we will start another arc on Monday, but as she said, “mark my words” she will be back, one way or another one of these days. Hope we are ready.
I hope she shows up in other comics, trying to scheme her way in and they all end in the door slam. e.g. Garfield slamming the door for Jon, Family Circle trail dots end at the door, Pearls Before Swine paint her like a zee bah and leave her for the crocs at the door, etc
Ann isn’t bad. She’s just drawn that way. Next story sometime in the future, she realizes the error of her ways and comes back as a Good person. Or is she?
I am glad she is finally gone. Now let her stay gone, and not show up in a few months with a soap opera baby. That would be the death knell for this strip.
they could have closed the door nicely. i don’t see that anything is gained by slamming a door in someone’s face. the door is still closed; you’re making the same statement.
The real winners are the ones who are smiling in frame 1. I am just ecstatic. I couldn’t see or foretell anything good coming out of a Tom-Ann marriage, except from her perspective, which is what she has been about all along…scheming and conning her way through life, as well as being a bully and a few other B words.
Was worth the wait to get this pay off. Now if Ann just falls in a mud pit on the way to her newly clamped car, Karma will be on the first rung of the ladder.
Rather than Ann Eiffel, her real name must be Ann Awful. And it’s pleasant to see how ditzy Tiffany is maturing and learning how to deal with life’s traumas and villains.
The writers need to think of Ann as a sort of chili pepper. Used prudently, it can add zest to a meal. Used imprudently, it can spoil the meal and make people who eat the meal ill.
I had to avoid this strip for a few days. I couldn’t stand the stress. POTUS has been enough of a stress on me. Regardless, this isn’t the last we have seen of Anne. Tiffany will still have major issues. We are not at happily ever after. This isn’t For Better or Worse.
I can’t tell you all how cathartic this week has been. I was worried when the pregnancy was announced there was NO end in sight for this storyline, and it exaservated one of the strips biggest issues; it’s pacing is inocistent with some storylines (Mr.Gray marrying Gunther’s mom), taking a year or so but being decently paced, and other storylines (Luann’s attraction to Jack, Luann’s relationship with Piro, Toni’s good for nothing brother constnatly dumping shanon on them with no repurccussions), taking forever.
This was one of them and it was a mixed bag: The good parts were Tiffany getting more character development by being forced to deal with being cut off and moving into the dorms, Les getting fleshed out a bit with the revelation Ann is his mom and him getting one over on her for Tiffany’s sake, and having characters besides Bernice actually be sympathetic to Tiff instead of treating her like she’s the same person she was in high school.. at least 2 years ago in universe time.
The bad was Ann herself, whose just too one dimensional an antagonist to work for YEARS at a time. She worked previously both because she was only in the strip in bursts and because female on male sexual harassment, which she engaged in in both storylines, was and still is rarely touched on in media, so at the very least greg was tackling a needed subject even if Ann herself was intolerable. But watching a thoroughly terrible and unlikable person constnatly win against someone whose grown as a person and continued to grow due to Anne’s actions.
To paraphrase the immortal J. Peterman, Kudos, G&K, on a job… done. This felt anti-climactic and almost like an ending they came up with at the last minute. But at least its done and now we can move on. So I wonder whats up with Luann and Jack?

New arc? New arc?
Oh no; it’s going to take a full week to really get rid of her.
Monday: Still standing at the door, it starts to rain clothes.
Tuesday: Ann lifts a piece of lingerie from her face to see a locksmith parked in front of her car.
Wednesday: The locksmith changes the car locks first.
Thursday: Ann calls for an Uber and has her card declined.
Friday: Ann meets Luann walking Puddles, and Puddles lifts his hind leg.
Saturday: It starts to rain.

Hopefully a new storyline arc will have Luann back as the main character and not a secondary one. And the Ann Eiffel arc was getting tedious and boring.

Count on it. Ann will get her petty, meaningless revenge.
OneTime59 about 4 years ago
Ann Eiffel possibly may be written out, but not so completely sure. G&K will still come up with some other controversial character from which to draw criticism. Just look at how much interest Ann Eiffel attracted. There will be either another, or a conflict from within the existing regulars.

Next time we see Tiff and Les this may not even be mentioned. Almost a shame as it’s a dramatic character growth event for all three. And I would like to see the father/daughter situation evolve with Les somewhere in the mix.

Jacob Mattingly about 4 years ago
